It is a blockbuster created between Venezuela and Spain in 2013, starring Edgar Ramirez, one of the few Venezuelan actors who has ventured into Hollywood, polyglot and with a great artistic career. It is one of the films that I had been waiting to see for a long time and due to the current political situation in my country with the recent presidential elections, I felt the need to see this story that is related to the freedom of Latin American countries and independence from the Spanish yoke.

The story of the liberator Simon Bolivar is known all over the world, this man born in Caracas, Venezuela of Spanish origin and heir to a great fortune was orphaned at an early age so he was educated by teachers who implanted in him a spirit of equity and social sensitivity, he was a man academically prepared and knowledgeable in several languages, French, English and Spanish, he traveled to Europe, North America and Central America, once he was widowed and in a deep sadness he changed the course of his life and decided to immortalize his name.

Es una superproducción creada entre Venezuela y España en el año 2013, protagonizada por Edgar Ramírez, uno de los pocos actores venezolanos que ha incursionado en Hollywood, políglota y con una gran trayectoria artística. Es una de las películas que tenía pendiente de ver desde hace mucho tiempo y debido a la actualidad política que vive mi país con las recientes elecciones presidenciales me surgió la necesidad de ver esta historia que está relacionada con la libertad de los países latinoamericanos y la independencia del yugo español.

La historia del libertador Simón Bolívar la conocen en todo el mundo, este hombre nacido en Caracas, Venezuela de origen español y heredero de una gran fortuna quedó huérfano a temprana edad por lo que fue educado por profesores que implantaron en él un espíritu de equidad y de sensibilidad social, era un hombre preparado académicamente conocedor de varios idiomas, francés, inglés y español, viajo a Europa, Norteamérica y centro América, una vez que enviudó y en una profunda tristeza cambió el rumbo de su vida y decidió inmortalizar su nombre.

Bolivar and love

History books tell us that Bolivar's great love was his wife, who died of yellow fever a few years later. Years later Bolivar had a passionate relationship with Manuela Saenz, who saved them from an attempt on their lives, giving more prominence to this last relationship.

Unlike the history books, the film gives more prominence to the relationship that Simon had with his wife, there we can see in a very romantic way how they fell in love and what they lived in the few months they were together, even in the same sequence of the film we can see how this love was the inspiration that Bolivar had in his fight for the freedom of nations.

History of the war

I found it very interesting and educational how they present history in a modern way that new generations can understand, for example we know that Francisco de Miranda was a recognized military man who was in the independence of France and the United States and participated in the independence of Venezuela thanks to Bolivar was the sponsor of the same war, but he had no faith that they could win the war, so he decided to make a capitulation and surrender the nation to the Spanish government, but Bolivar learned of his intentions and arrested Miranda for the crime of treason.

As for Bolivar's death, it is written in the history books that the cause was tuberculosis, but in the last decades the hypothesis has arisen that he was poisoned or murdered, I suppose it is to give me a more dignified death to a war hero and elevate him to a martyr category. It is interesting how in the movie they give a sad yet glorious ending, where he was betrayed by his closest allies.

Argumento
Bolívar y el amor
En los libros de historia nos cuentan que el gran amor de Bolívar fue su esposa, quien falleció de fiebre amarilla, a los pocos meses de haberse casado, años después Bolívar tuvo una relación apasionada con Manuela Sáenz, que los salvó de un atentado de muerte, dándole mayor protagonismo a esta última relación.

A diferencia de los libros de historia en la película se le da mayor protagonismo a la relación que tuvo Simón con su esposa allí podemos ver de una forma muy romántica cómo se enamoraron y lo que vivieron en los pocos meses qué estuvieron juntos, incluso en la misma secuencia de la película podemos ver cómo este amor fue la inspiración que tuvo bolívar en su lucha por la libertad de las naciones.

Historia de la guerra
Me pareció muy interesante y educativa cómo presentan la historia de una forma moderna que las nuevas generaciones las puedan entender, por ejemplo sabemos que Francisco de Miranda era un militar reconocido que estuvo en la independencia de Francia y los Estados Unidos y que participó en la de Venezuela gracias a qué Bolívar fue el patrocinador de la misma guerra, pero él no tenía fe de que pudieran ganar la guerra, por eso decidió hacer una capitulación y entregar la nación al gobierno español, pero Bolívar se enteró de sus intenciones y apresó a Miranda por el delito de traición.

En cuanto a la muerte de Bolívar, está escrito en los libros de historia que la causa fue por tuberculosis, pero en las últimas décadas ha surgido la hipótesis de que fue envenenado o asesinado, supongo que es para darme una muerte más digna a un héroe de guerra y elevarlo a una categoría de mártir. Es interesante cómo en la película dan un final triste y a la vez glorioso, donde fue traicionado por sus aliados más cercanos.

I liked that the atmosphere of the film as well as the costumes were appropriate to the time we are talking about the eighteenth and eighteenth century; however, when watching the film we can feel it as a recent, fresh and modern story with a simple language and conflicts that give the characters a real motivation making it close to the viewing public.

A very important part of this film is that it shows how the character I must Bolivar managed to be in contact with the less favored people, the indigenous, the slaves and how he could understand their suffering and go from being a person who had no need to an awakening of consciousness and look at the reality of those around him, it happened to live in the forest, in the jungles and live the same needs so he understood that the most sacred for a person who has nothing material is to have the freedom to express their feelings, to express their faith, to work where you want and feel valued. Freedom is the most precious good for humans.

Of all the movies about Simon Bolivar and the independence era this has been my favorite, the special defects, the script, the photography, the makeup, it is a great production that allows you to see history with different eyes, if you have not seen it I recommend it and if you see it let me know your impressions.

Me gustó que el ambiente de la película así como el vestuario estuviera adecuado a la época estamos hablando del siglo XVIII y XVIII; sin embargo, a la hora de ver la película la podemos sentir como una historia reciente, fresca y moderna con un lenguaje sencillo y con conflictos que le dan a los personajes una motivación real haciéndolo cercano con el público televidente.

Una parte muy importante de esta película es que muestran cómo logró el personaje debo Bolívar estar en contacto con las personas menos favorecidas, los indígenas, los esclavos y cómo pudo entender su sufrimiento y pasar de ser una persona que no tenía ningún tipo de necesidad a un despertar de conciencia y mirar la realidad de los que lo rodeaban, sucedió al convivir en bosque, en las selvas y vivir las mismas necesidades así entendió que lo más sagrado para una persona que no tiene nada material es tener la libertad de expresar su sentir, es expresar su fe, es trabajar donde desee y sentirse valorado. La libertad es el bien más preciado para los humanos.

De todas las películas sobre Simón Bolívar y la época independentista esta ha sido mi favorita, los defectos especiales, el guion, la fotografía, el maquillaje, es una gran producción que te permite ver con otros ojos la historia, si no la has visto te era recomiendo y si la vistes déjame saber tus impresiones.
