Tener un familiar desaparecido es algo muy doloroso para cualquier persona. No saber qué ocurrió, por qué desapareció, si está vivo o muerto o si necesita ayuda, son muchas las interrogantes que no dejarán vivir en paz. En el peor de los casos, aunque estuviera muerto sin el cuerpo, no se puede dar cierre a esa traumática experiencia. Esto es lo que vivieron dos padres cuando su único hijo desapareció camino a casa, sin el apoyo de la policía tuvieron que investigar por su cuenta par dar con los asesinos de su hijo, que después de desaparición mancharon su nombre al involucrarlo en un supuesto robo justificando la causa de su ausencia, lo único que justifica la difamación de un desaparecido es que el causante de esto, sea alguien de poder.

Having a missing family member is a very painful experience for anyone. Not knowing what happened, why they disappeared, if they are alive or dead, or if they need help, are many questions that will not allow one to live in peace. In the worst case scenario, even if they were dead without the body, closure cannot be achieved for that traumatic experience. This is what two parents went through when their only son disappeared on his way home. Without the support of the police, they had to investigate on their own to find the killers of their son, who after the disappearance tainted his name by involving him in an alleged robbery to justify the cause of his absence. The only thing that justifies defaming a missing person is if the one causing this is someone with power.

Inicie viendo desde Netflix la película titulada The invisible Guest, pero cuando busque información adicional para hacer esta reseña me entero de que en realidad la película que vi se llama en español Contratiempo, fue transmitida en el 2016 y protagonizada por el Mario Casas uno de mis actores favoritos españoles, y la que se llama actualmente The invisible Guest es un remake chino que salió en el año 2023. Es decir, que la película original tuvo alcance para que decidieran hacer una versión en otro idioma.

Esta es una película de suspenso, crimen y e intriga que inicia con un hombre que despierta en una habitación de un hotel y a su lado está el cuerpo sin vida de su amante, por lo cual es el primer sospecho del homicidio, es un empresario reconocido que será llevado a juicio por esta muerte y para no ser hallado culpable, ya que no hay evidencia que otra persona estuvo allí, contrata los servicios de la mejor abogada preparadora de testigos, mientras preparan su intervención y narra los hechos van mostrando flashback de todas las historias paralelas, la muerte de esta mujer y la desaparición del joven que los padres buscaban encajando todas las piezas en una misma línea de tiempo.

Es una película que te mantiene en suspenso constante y que aumenta de forma progresiva, con giros inesperados que sorprenden de forma positiva aumentando la curiosidad y deseo de seguir viendo, no dejan cabos sueltos sin resolver y te da tiempo de entender todo lo que sucede, hace que el espectador sea parte de la investigación.

Es una producción con pocos personajes, pero todos bien desarrollados, las actuaciones de los protagonistas Mario Casas y Ana Wagener, destacan trasmitiendo emociones como ira, frustración, confusión, poder y manipulación.

I started by watching the movie titled The Invisible Guest on Netflix, but when I looked for additional information to write this review, I found out that the movie I watched is actually called Contratiempo in Spanish. It was released in 2016 and starred Mario Casas, one of my favorite Spanish actors. The one currently called The Invisible Guest is a Chinese remake that came out in 2023. This means that the original movie had enough impact for them to decide to make a version in another language.

This is a suspenseful, crime, and intrigue movie that begins with a man waking up in a hotel room next to the lifeless body of his lover. He becomes the prime suspect in the murder investigation. He is a well-known businessman who is taken to court for this death. To avoid being found guilty, as there is no evidence of another person being there, he hires the services of the best witness preparer lawyer. As they prepare his defense and narrate the events, they show flashbacks of all the parallel stories, the death of the woman and the disappearance of the young man that the parents were looking for, fitting all the pieces together in the same timeline.

It's a movie that keeps you constantly in suspense and progressively raises the tension with unexpected twists that pleasantly surprise, increasing curiosity and the desire to keep watching. They don't leave loose ends unresolved and give you time to understand everything that happens, making the viewer part of the investigation.

It is a production with few characters, but all well-developed. The performances of the leads Mario Casas and Ana Wagener stand out, conveying emotions such as anger, frustration, confusion, power, and manipulation.

Durante toda la película dan pequeños mensajes morales para concienciar a las personas, como por ejemplo no conducir mirando el celular o contestando mensajes de textos porque te puede costar la vida, que las mentiras al final terminan descubriéndose, la infidelidad no te hará más feliz ni es de astutos tener aventureras amorosas porque el engaño empieza en la misma persona que lo comete, que es perverso dañar la imagen de las personas porque causa dolor a los que lo aman, que el dinero no puede comprar una conciencia limpia ni mucho menos devolver la vida. Son infinidades de mensajes positivos que desde mi punto de vista observé que me parecen buenos y que dan más valor al film, ya que te entretiene, pero también sirve para sembrar una pequeña semilla a tu subconsciente de que lo mejor es actuar con la verdad que no perjudica a nadie.

Throughout the movie, they deliver small moral messages to raise awareness among people, such as not driving while looking at your phone or texting because it can cost you your life, that lies eventually get uncovered, that infidelity won't make you happier, and it's not clever to have romantic adventures because deception starts with the person committing it. It is cruel to damage people's reputation because it causes pain to those who love them. Money can't buy a clear conscience, let alone bring back a life. There are countless positive messages that, from my point of view, seem good and add more value to the film, entertaining you while also planting a seed in your subconscious that it's better to act with truth that harms no one.
