¡Saludos a todos mis amigos cinéfilos! Esta semana les vengo con una nueva reseña. En esta oportunidad les traigo un TV Show que está siendo muy aclamado tanto por el tema como por la cantidad de actores maravillosos que desfilan por las escenas. Se trata de Only Murders in The Building.

Greetings to all my cinephile friends! This week I come to you with a new review. This time I bring you a TV Show that is being highly acclaimed both for the theme and for the amount of wonderful actors that parade through the scenes. It Only Murders in The Building.

Ha ocurrido un asesinato en el Arconia el lujoso edificio del Upper West Side de New York, y tres vecinos del edificio, que no se tratan más allá del saludo en el ascensor, y que casualmente son amantes de los pódcast de asesinatos reales, deciden investigar el caso y paralelamente, hacer un pódcast. Esto hace que en cada uno de los episodios de la primera temporada, en dónde investigan a algunos sospechosos, quienes también son residentes del mismo edificio. Esto da pie a una serie de eventos bastante divertidos y que hacen que sea algo muy divertido de ver. El desarrollo es del género whodunit (quién lo hizo)en el que deben descubrir quién es el asesino.

A murder has occurred in the Arconia, the luxurious building on the Upper West Side of New York. Three neighbors of the building, who do not know each other beyond the greeting in the elevator, and who happen to be lovers of real murder podcasts, decide to investigate the case and, in parallel, to make a podcast. This makes each of the episodes of the first season, where they investigate some suspects, who are also residents of the same building. This gives rise to a series of events that are quite funny and make it a lot of fun to watch. The development is of the whodunit genre (who did it) in which they must discover who the murderer is.

El show cuenta con una constelación de estrellas que aparecen en las pantallas, empezando por el trío dinámico y bastante disparejo, formado por Steve Martin, Martin Short y Selena Gomez, quienes también son productores del show. Nunca imaginamos ver a este trío como grandes amigos (bueno, a Steve Martin y a Martin Short ya los hemos visto actuando juntos anteriormente), sobre todo por la incorporación de una cara juvenil dentro del elenco, como es la gran Selena Gomez.

La primera temporada es una belleza de temporada, artísticamente hablando, amo las voces en off delos personajes, que hacen que justamente pareciera que estamos escuchando un pódcast. Para los que no lo tienen claro, un pódcast es un broadcast en formato de audio, como la radio, pero en el que los radioescuchas deciden en que momento escuchar el episodio que gusten. Así que la voz es importante y es lo que hace que el sonido y la música de la serie sea tan espectacular y que los hayan hecho ganarse uno de los Emmys por la mezcla de sonidos del show. Además, se ganó un premio Emmy por el diseño de producción, que estamos bastante claros que es increíble. La fotografía y la dirección destacan como la obra de arte que quisieron plasmar en la serie.

El final dela primera temporada termina con una muerte que da pie a una segunda temporada. Esta segunda temporada, aunque es genial, le faltó mucho del factor arte y la falta de las grabaciones del pódcast en cada capítulo hizo que pareciera que no estuviéramos viendo el mismo show. Sin embargo, hay mucha investigaciones, situaciones hilarantes y muchos chismes.

The show features a constellation of stars appearing on the screens, starting with the dynamic and rather mismatched trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, who are also producers of the show. We never imagined seeing this trio as great friends (well, Steve Martin and Martin Short we've seen them acting together before), especially with the addition of a youthful face to the cast in the form of the great Selena Gomez.

The first season is a beauty of a season, artistically speaking, I love the voice-overs of the characters, which make it seem like we are listening to a podcast. For those who are not clear, a podcast is a broadcast in audio format, like radio, but in which listeners decide when they want to listen to the episode they want. So the voice is important and that is what makes the sound and music of the series so spectacular and has earned them one of the Emmys for the sound mix of the show. It also won an Emmy Award for production design, which we're pretty clear is incredible. The cinematography and direction stand out as the work of art they wanted to capture in the series.

The end of the first season ends with a death that leads to a second season. This second season, while great, lacked a lot of the art factor and the lack of the podcast recordings in each episode made it seem like we weren't watching the same show. However, there is plenty of research, hilarious situations and lots of gossip.

Steve Martin, un referente en el mundo de la comedia, representa a Charles Savage-Hagen, un actor en los últimos años de carrera que tuvo un exitoso show de televisión en el que encarnaba a un detective que, adivinen, resolvía casos de asesinatos. Siempre lo reconocen por ese papel y tiende ponerlo de referencia a la hora de descubrir alguna pieza clave del asesinato. Siempre me ha gustado la comedia de Steve Martin porque tiende a ser bastante incómoda, da un poco pena ajena por las situaciones que suelen sucederle, como que le sangre la nariz cuando tiene ansiedad y que lo hacen bastante cómico.

Steve Martin, a benchmark in the world of comedy, portrays Charles Savage-Hagen, an actor in the last years of his life who had a successful TV show in which he played a detective who, guess what, solved murder cases. I've always liked Steve Martin's comedy because it tends to be quite awkward, a little embarrassing because of the situations that tend to happen to him, like getting a bloody nose when he has anxiety, which makes him quite funny.

También tenemos a Martin Short, un rostro muy conocido en el mundo de la comedia, que al contrario de Steve Martin, es bastante extrovertido y estrafalario. Es Oliver Putnam, un director de Broadway caído en desgracia que debe buscar como ganar dinero y el pódcast es una buena manera de resolver este gran problema. Lo podemos ver por todo el edificio empujando un carrito con todos los aparatos para grabar el pódcast, ataviado con un vestuario colorido y llevándose salsas de los sitios a los que va para poder comer.

We also have Martin Short, a well-known face in the comedy world, who, unlike Steve Martin, is quite extroverted and quirky. He is Oliver Putnam, a disgraced Broadway director who must find a way to make money, and the podcast is a good way to solve this big problem. We can see him all over the building pushing a cart with all the gadgets to record the podcast, decked out in colorful costumes and taking sauces from the places he goes to, so he can eat.

Y la cereza de este gran pastel es la actriz y cantante Selena Gomez, quien, a pesar de que es la más joven del cast, es la que le pone el orden a los dos viejos locos con los que le tocó descubrir el asesinato de Tim Kono. Interpreta a Mabel Mora, una joven artista de 28 años muy misteriosa que busca su lugar en la vida, mientras vive en el apartamento que está remodelando y que pertenece a su tía. Es la más seria y más centrada de toda la serie, lo que hace que marque el balance en el alocado trío.

And the cherry on this great cake is the actress and singer Selena Gomez. Despite being the youngest of the cast, she is the one who brings order to the two crazy old men with whom she had to discover the murder of Tim Kono. She plays Mabel Mora, a very mysterious 28-year-old artist who is searching for her place in life, while living in the apartment she is remodeling that belongs to her aunt. She is the most serious and focused of the entire series, which makes her the balance in the crazy trio.

Como ya les dije, hay muchas estrellas invitadas a participar en el show, como Nathan Lane, que es una pieza importante y además, se ganó el tercer Emmy de la serie como actor invitado. Además de otros invitados que le dieron vida a varios personajes de la serie como Tina Fey, Shirley MacLaine, Amy Schumer, Sting, y muchos otros que seguro reconocerán. Me encantaría adelantar que hay un tercera temporada que contará con la participación de Meryl Streep y de Paul Rudd. Así que aún queda mucho por ver de esta maravillosa serie.

Definitivamente, quiero ver la tercera temporada que tendrá lugar en un teatro (ya basta de muertes en el edificio donde viven, es muy raro). Esta serie es una producción de Hulu, y en Latinoamérica la puedes ver a través de Star+. Se las recomiendo al 100%, es divertida, tiene muertes, asesinatos, un asesino y muchas risas. Cada temporada tiene diez capítulos, estos tienen una duración de alrededor de 30 minutos, así que pueden hacer un maratón fácilmente.

As I already told you, there are many guest stars invited to participate in the show, such as Nathan Lane, who is an important piece and also won the third Emmy for the series as a guest actor. In addition to other guests who gave life to various characters in the series such as Tina Fey, Shirley MacLaine, Amy Schumer, Sting, and many others that you will surely recognize. I would love to advance that there is a third season that will feature Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd. So there is still a lot to see from this wonderful series.

I definitely want to see the third season, which will take place in a theater (enough with the deaths in the building where they live, it's so weird). This series is a Hulu production, and in Latin America you can watch it through Star+. I recommend it 100%, it is fun, it has deaths, murders, a killer, and lots of laughs. Each season has ten chapters, these have a duration of about 30 minutes, so you can easily make a marathon.
