Contact - Between the Stars and Certainty
Contact is one of the films that takes you on a journey between the mind and the heart between science and faith and makes you think about many things that do not have an easy answer The film was produced in 1997 and stars Jodie Foster who played the role of scientist Ellie Arrowey who was passionate about searching for intelligent life in the universe.
The story begins with Ellie when she was young a girl with great curiosity and loved to listen to the stars through the radio and this curiosity grew with her until she became an astronomer working on a research project called SETI whose idea was to search for signals from aliens Indeed after long years of searching and frustration the decisive moment comes and she receives a strange signal coming from a distant star called Vega.
The signal is not just random it was an encrypted message and when they decoded it they discovered that it contained plans to build a machine its shape is strange but it is clear that it is designed to travel in a way that no one knows Of course this topic creates a global controversy between scientists politicians and religious people everyone has a point of view and everyone wants to be the decision maker on the subject.
The Unknown Journey
After many conflicts the machine is built and Ellie is the one who will try it This moment is one of the greatest moments in the movie because she enters a machine that work in a mysterious way and finds herself in a strange place like a beach and there she meet an alien entity that appears in the form of her father whom she loved very much and this entity speaks to her in a calm and comfortable way and explains to her that they are monitoring humans but they do not want to interfere in their lives and that this is just the first step in communication.
When Ellie returns to Earth she is surprised that there is no evidence of what happened For people the machine worked for only a few moments but for her it was a long journey Here comes the greatest point in the movie because she is in the same position as the religious people she used to criticize at first She now has a personal experience that has no evidence and she asks people to believe her in faith.
