Lee (John Krasinski) y Evelyn (Emily Blunt) Abbott viven junto a sus tres hijos en un desolado y devastado pueblo de los Estados Unidos. Después de mucho tiempo he vuelto a disfrutar de una película con verdadero suspenso: ese suspenso que acelera tu corazón, que te lleva a odiar personajes y esperar que la peor de las cosas les suceda. Debo decir que, al ser A Quiet Place una película que juega con el trasfondo sonoro, se puede palpar mucho de ese terror que intenta aturdirnos. Hay un constante juego mental con el espectador. Los primeros minutos de esta joya audiovisual nos muestra, casi al instante, el verdadero peligro que enfrentan los protagonistas. Esto fue lo que me atrapó: cierta restricción para mostrarnos el contexto de un sopetón y, en su lugar, soltar de a poco la naturaleza de esos monstruos de tenazas y oídos sensibles.

Los monstruos en A Quiet Place son difíciles de derrotar. Al ser muy sensibles al sonido, ¿cómo matarlos? Un paso en falso y los tendrás rodeándote, a una bandada completa. Ahora bien, las criaturas en sí solo asechan pero... ¿Quién hace los sonidos? He aquí la gran premisa de esta película: un conflicto humano, una necesidad de culpa y de liberación. Una necesidad de recuperar lo perdido de la forma más peligrosa posible, en un mundo donde los ruidos son la verdadera amenaza.

After a long time I have once again enjoyed a film with real suspense: that suspense that makes your heart race, that makes you hate the characters and wait for the worst things to happen to them. I must say that, as A Quiet Place is a film that plays with the sound background, you can feel a lot of that terror that tries to stun us. There is a constant mental game with the viewer. The first few minutes of this audiovisual gem show us, almost instantly, the real danger faced by the protagonists. This is what got me: a certain restraint to show us the context out of the blue and, instead, slowly release the nature of those monsters with pincers and sensitive ears.

The monsters in A Quiet Place are hard to defeat. Being very sensitive to sound, how do you kill them? One wrong step and you'll have them surrounding you, a whole flock of them. Now, the creatures themselves only lurk but.... Who makes the sounds? Here is the great premise of this film: a human conflict, a need for guilt and liberation. A need to recover what was lost in the most dangerous way possible, in a world where noises are the real threat.

They are all united by the desire to go on living, especially on the eve of the baby in Evelyn's womb: this is the great conflict. Any birth is noisy wherever you look... any newborn is unable to control its cries.

What do you think will happen? Imagine the worst, and the worst is something that keeps this film alive. The feature won't stop bombarding you with a series of alarming events: your anxiety will rise as you watch the Abbotts navigate the most unfortunate situations.

John Krasinski produce, dirige, escribe y actúa en esta película. Nunca había visto algo dirigido por él, y creo que es la primera historia, después de The Office, a la que le doy toda mi atención. Su pareja protagonista es Emily Blunt, quien también es su esposa en la vida real. Tal vez por eso haya más química entre ambos, y vale, esto le da un toque dramático bastante bueno al largometraje. A Quiet Place tiene dos partes en total, ambas muy buenas, aunque sigo prefiriendo la primera. No hay tantos personajes en escena: al principio todo se centra en la familia Abbott y luego la historia se expande más allá, dándonos un flashback del origen de las criaturas.

Ambas partes están llenas de tragedia. La atmósfera silente otorga cierta característica nostálgica al asunto. Los personajes viven cometiendo errores que los ponen en peligro: suspirarás por sus idioteces; las idioteces son más peligrosas que los propios monstruos de la película.

I've never seen anything directed by him before, and I think it's the first story, post-The Office, that I'm giving my full attention to. His lead partner is Emily Blunt, who is also his wife in real life. Maybe that's why there's more chemistry between the two, and okay, this adds a pretty good dramatic touch to the feature. A Quiet Place has two parts in total, both very good, although I still prefer the first one. There are not so many characters on the scene: at the beginning everything is focused on the Abbott family and then the story expands further, giving us a flashback to the origin of the creatures.

Both parts are full of tragedy. The muted atmosphere lends a certain nostalgic quality to the story. The characters live making mistakes that put them in danger: you will sigh at their idiocies; the idiocies are more dangerous than the monsters in the film themselves.

Si te gusta el cine de suspenso psicológico, A Quiet Place es para ti. Sin duda alguna, debo decir que este Film superó mis expectativas; es una obra cinematográfica que vale la pena disfrutar, sobre todo, por esa característica silente que la rodea. Supervivencia, horror y drama: todo encarnado en la piel de John Krasinski y Emily Blunt.

Posdata: creo que enviaré a varios vecinos escandalosos al universo de A Quiet Place: a los monstruos que habitan allí les encantarán.

Without a doubt, I must say that this film exceeded my expectations; it is a cinematographic work worth enjoying, especially because of the silent characteristic that surrounds it. Survival, horror and drama: all embodied in the skin of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

P.S: I think I'll send some scandalous neighbors to the universe of A Quiet Place: the monsters that live there will love it.
