Avatar The Last Airbender was first an animated series but now is a live action series that all devoted fans have been waiting hoping it makes justice to the original. Directed by Albert Kim known for his notable contributions to television this live action adaptation brings renewed energy to Aang’s saga and his friends. The series is set to release on February 22nd on Netflix this first season consists of eight episodes, Albert Kim has made his mark with his work on shows like Leverage, Nikita and Sleepy Hollow, before transitioning into television he served as Senior News Director at ESPN where he created the entertainment news program ESPN Hollywood.
With a good eye for detail Kim’s vision for Avatar The Last Airbender is to engage both lifelong fans and those who soon will become after the season starts. Gordon Cormier performs the enigmatic Avatar Aang at just fifteen years old Cormier is a young star on the rise with previous work on the series Stand where he appeared alongside Whoopi Goldberg on the other side Dallas Liu known for his versatility in roles ranging from young Jin Kazama in Tekken to the endearing Shuji Ishii-Peters in PEN15 takes on the role of Prince Zuko, Liu’s face may also be familiar from Shang-Chi joining them is Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara whose journey from the CBC series Anne with an E to the big screen in Beans has earned critical acclaim. Ian Ousley plays the role of Sokka adding some humor to the series Ousley has participated in different TV Series such as Physical and 13 Reasons Why series produced by Selena Gomes. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee takes on the beloved character of Uncle Iroh drawing on his extensive experience primarily in television series but is most known for his role on the Star Wars franchise as Captain Carson Teva. Elizabeth Yu a rising young actress takes on the role of Azula having previously worked in several films and let’s not forget the incomparable Daniel Dae Kim whose portrayal of Fire Lord Ozai complements the ensemble, Kim’s past performances include roles in Lost and the film Insurgent from the Divergent series.

The last airbender is a fantastic series, with a spectacular drawing and a story that engages even if you are an adult.
I have high expectations in the live action, I must say that the actors embody the characters very well, we will see how they perform in the performance.
