My Favorite Watched Movies in 2024!

I'm keeping this blog as a personal journal of all the movies I watch during a year. I give each of them a score fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching along with a spoiler-free review.

New Blog Introduction

I have been journaling about my health-related goals for over 2400 days now here on my @byebyehamburgers which has become a great habit. The last 2 years I also started to include the movies that I watched which really enhanced my movie watching experience as I'm more picky and concious with what I watch. I've been wanting to make a separate blog for it and I waited for the start of the new year to get it started.

In 2023 I only watched 20 Movies, which I ramped up to 42 in 2024 with an eye to possibly increase this to one a week at least. January tends to be the month where I watch the most as there is a lot of incpiration from Youtubers who bring out their favorite movies of the year.

I did go ahead and Power Up 100 Hive while I Leased and extra 1500 with an eye to exclusively curate movie & Tv-related bloggers engaging a bit in the community and hopefully fining some great recommendations along the way. The idea is that I will convert the HBD that I earn into Hive and use that to each time get a new delegation hopefully growing that way becoming a good contributing part of this community.

My Most Enjoyed 2024 Movies

These are movies that I watched in 2024 and not all ones that released in that year. The Scores are fully based on my personal preference and how much I enjoyed them while watching. This given the day after I watched them and some now I would rate a bit higher and others lower depending on how they stuck to me.

Honerable Mentions: Alien Romelus surprised me as I really liked the vibe of the old movies that was recreated. The Subsctance captured me on a metaphorical level not so much on the theme that is about the focus on Beauty for women but way more about the self-destructive nature and how one screws over another version of themselves by for example eating poorly. The Last Stop In Yuma County felt like a tarrantino movie and I just really enjoyed watching it without ever getting bored. Both Showing Up & Wendy and Lucy are 'everyday snapshot' movies from the same director with Michelle Williams in the lead and I grew to love this genre where basically nothing spectacular happens showcasing everyday events and struggles.

My Top 10:

Perfect Days even though it's only in 3rd spot I now would say if my favorite watched movie last year. At times it was a bit slow and I got distracted on my phone but as an introvert, I very much related to this story that showcased a happy fulfilling live of a toilet cleaner while at the same time there still was something missing giving some kind of sadness to it. Are You There God? It's Me Margaret is one of those movies I just highly enjoyed watching as I like coming of age stories. Dream Scenario really blew me away as I watched it without really knowing anything about it which turned out to be the best way. I just really liked the original idea behind this one and Nicolas Cage put up such a great performance. Poor Things kept me captured the entire runtime and was made very well even though there probably was just a bit too much sex in it. The Holdovers is just a classic Christmas movie even though it doesn't really feel like one. Very reletable also in many ways and great acting performance. Rope is a very old movie I got recommended and it held up perfectly. I like movies that potentially could be a play situating in 1 room with a story that just has to hold up to make it work. Past Lives is a mix between an american and asian movie with a topic that is relatable to everyone. The Boy And The Heron was better than I expected especially after watching some explained videos. I just love Studio Ghibli and plan to watch more of these types of films. Anatomy Of a Fall was just a very solid courtroom drama which didn't bore me at any given time. Finally Monster was the first movie I watched from Director Koreeda and it made me want to watch more of them. I just love the asian culture and really felt it in this one.

Worst Watched Movies in 2024Killers Of The Flower Moon simply isn't my type of movie. While the acting and filming is done very well, the story just doesn't do it for me and the 3+ Hour runtime made it somewhat of a turture. I also didn't like the new Ghostbusters movies which is one of the few 'blockbusters' that I watched and The Platform 2 was a major dissapointment where the first movie was one of my favorites a couple years ago.

My Most Enjoyed 2023 Movies

The 3 films that stood out to me that I watched in 2023 are Talk To Me which is the kind of original Horror movie that did it for me, Aftersun which had a really nice showcase of a Father-Daughter relationship and We're All Going To The Worlds Fair which halfway I wanted to put off but I keps watching and really got it near the end. One of the rare movies that really managed to capture internet culture.
