January 2025 Recap & Hive Blog Progress!

This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews.

Hive Blog Objectives

So I have been using Hive as a Personal Daily Health Journal blog for 4450+ days now on my @byebyehamburgers account and in the past years also started including the Movies & Tv-Shows that I watch in there. However, as I prefer having a consistant blog that people can follow knowing what they will get instead of getting a bunch of random topic posts like actifit spam.

So I made this account where I keep track of all the movies I watch during a year and where I almost exclusively consume, comment on and upvote Movie-related posts. I bought 100 Hive to start out with powering that up and I also leased 1900 Hive Power for 4 weeks to make my vote actually worth something.

The idea is that I will convert the HBD that I earn each month to hive and use to get a new 4-Week Lease each time. This while Keeping the Hive Power Staked. I will also only upvote accounts that are good for the Hive Ecosystem. So when I see joined in 2021 and less than 100 Hive Power I will not vote for it even if I like the post. I will try to get some of the ones that I follow who make movie-related content in auto-vote and every couple of days check the new content in the communities trying to engage where I can making some friends and picking up or giving suggestions along the way.

1st Month Hive Progress

I did a total of 11 Posts last month including Reviews of the 8 movies that I watched, 1 Series that I finished, along with an introduction post and a participation in the cinetv contest which was a topic I liked. This got My Hive Power from 100HP to 117HP and 3.368HBD which I got a 900HP lease for which ends at the start of March. I will supplement this with some extra funds from my other account getting an extra lease so my vote is at least 0.03$. I also have made a total of 111 posts so 100 comments in the month while I followed 36 accounts and picked up a modest 9 Followers along the way. I will keep tracking all these numbers on a monthly basis.

January 2025 Recap

In total last month, I saw 8 Movies on which 1 really blew me away and which I actually saw thanks to my activity here on blog as I got it recommended after leaving a comment. This is exactly what I'm looking for here on Hive with this blog. The movie was Paris, Texas from 1984 by Wim Wenders and with a 9.2 score it comes in straight into my all-time top 10. I also enjoyed Heretic from last year which is the type of movie that I tend to like naturally. I did score that a 7.8/10. Other than these I also respected Caddo Lake with a 7.5 score as it was a fun watch even thoug I don't think it will stick. Sometimes I Think About Dying I also liked as I could relate to it but at the same time I feel it could have been better. I saw 1 Documentary with The Greatest Night In Pop which was pretty good but where I pretty much heard alsready in a podcast all the good parts. Look Back was the only Anime movie I watched and it was ok but also quite forgettable for me I fear. A Different Man from A24 was ok but also didn't fully meet my rather high expectations. The only movie that watched and didn't like that much last month was Sing Sing which I only Scored a 6/10.

February 2025 Outlook

On February 3rd & 4th, I will take a small trip along with a friend to Film Fest Oostende where we will see 5 movies in 2 days so I at least will have those to write about in the coming weeks. I also really want to go watch the Companion film and I also have the Anime Film "A Silent Voice" on my watchlist.
