2025 Tv-Series #1 | Silo Season 2 (2023 - )
About The Silo Tv-Show
So Silo is a tv show that is based on a Series of Books by Hugh Howey. It is made by the Apple Tv Streaming Service and start Tim Robbins (It actually took me until somewhere in the 2nd Season before realising it was him as I mainly remember him from when he was way younger) and Rebecca Ferguson who I actually didn't know despite having watched some movies she was in.
It's clearly made with a big budget behind it and the acting is also just good without anything Special. With 2 seasons completed it is sure to get 2 of them which will finish the story in a total of 4 Seasons.
Silo Season 1 Plot & Recap (Spoiler Free)
So the concept behind the show is that there is a big Silo structure with 140 Floors and 10k people living in it who don't know who put them there but with the idea that it's not safe to go outside. There are different roles assigned to different groups of residents and rules to oblige while some want to find out the truth of what's behind it all.
In the first season there is pretty much 1 main question which is if the residents are lied to or if it really is not safe outside. I found the 1st 4 episodes to be really intriguing and interesting as all the different rules were laid out while giving some big questions. The production value of the show is also great and it really transforms you into believing the environment and feeling your are actually there. In the middle of Season 1 it kind of became a bit more political but the ending was interesting again as there was actually a clear answer to the main question. I binged this series in a couple of days and enjoyed it for what it was leaving me satisfied with the ending.
Silo Season 2 Review (Season 1 SPOILERS!): So it's hard to talk about Season 2 without spoiling Season 1 as Juliette got out of the silo to eventually see that it was unsafe outside while there were a total of 50 different silos in the area. So she wandered toward the one next to hers to see everyine tried to get out and died. After eventually getting into that Silo she saw it was fully abandoned. This was before finding Solo who seemingly lived there still on his own in the Vault. It switched back and forward to the 2 different silos with the main story being about the rebellion happening in the Silo she arrived in also likely to happen in her silo because she survived.
The entire season 2 is pretty much about her trying to get a suit working to get back to her silo to prevent a rebellion, and that same rebellion starting to happen in the Silo where she came from. The ending partly was what could be expected while it also gave a flashback before the silos indicating that the 3rd season will at least partly be about that.
Thoughts on Season 2
- Once again, the visuals and acting were very good and while watching this series it transported me into the silo which was great.
- There were many very dark scenes in the new abandoned Silo which my tv couldn't fully handle the darkness levels so at times I didn't clearly see everything which only partially was annoying.
- The big question for me was answered in season 1 at the end and it wasn't fully replaced by an interesting new question. So it all kind of felt more like a soap opera that took place in the silos than actually a series that I tend to really digg where there are unanswered questions you want to know the answer from.
- The Sub Plots and twists in both Silos didn't really keep me busy that much and also were nothing really big to be surprised about.
- It was released in a 1 Weekly episode format while I prefer to just Binge-Watch a series of this type. At times with so many different characters, I wasn't always fully with some storylines.
Conclusion
Overall I'm still glad that I watched it even though honestly I was and still am tempted to read/watch a summary of the books to know the entire story and move on with it. It's not a series that I want or have to watch at all cost so I'm not even sure that I will pick up Season 3 when that is released. Overall I still enjoyed it enough to give it a 7.1/10. I still think that the first episodes of season 1 were the best along with the answer at the end of it while Season 2 was a bit less interesting.
