This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews.

IMPORTANT!

The best way by far to watch this movie is to pretty much go in totally blind. I managed to avoid any spoilers and had not watched the trailer only really knowing the basic plot of a cabin near the lake, a billionair and a murder that happens. Aside from this I knew a vague reference to black mirror and that it got a 7.4+ on imdb from the early reviewers which is quite hight for a movie like this. All of this sounded good to me and I had quite high hopes which were fully met mainly because I did not know anything and some twists came as a surprise. So if this sounds like something you would like, by all means go in blind as it will make this movie so much better!

Companion (7.8/10)

I wanted to watch something just for entertainment tonight and this one had been on my radar to possibly go see in the Cinema. However, it's jusy the perfect movie to watch at home and also has a great lenght of just over 90 Minues which you don't find that easily these days. It's not too short and also not too long. It's also not too serious or realistic with a plot that you don't have too approach with too much logic. Just sit back and enjoy was for me the motto of this movie and it fully delivered on that from start to finish.

Spoiler-Free Movie Plot:

"Iris and her friends go to a billionaire's estate on a lake for the weekend. The billionaire dies. This death sets off a chain reaction that also has consequences for the group of friends."

So the movie started kind of slow in the 1st 15 minutes but around minute 20 I would say an event happens and a twist comes which I didn't see coming as I had not watched the trailer which kind of kickstarted the rest of the movie which stayed interesting until the end. That twist was that the girlfriend was actually a robot which is where the entire black mirror vibe of the movie comes into play.

Sometimes you just need a movie like this and I saw it at a good time without knowing anything about it. I had a blast just watching this one as it stayed interesting from the start until the end without being too long. The performances were also good and even though it by no means is the best movie, I still gladly rate it a solid 7.8/10 despite quite high expectations which were fully met.

I also like to go to see movies without knowing much so expectations do not play against me and the times I have done it I enjoy the experience more 😅

Expectations are indeed such a huge factor, the best ones are when they are sky high and the movie still blows you away. For most films I would say it's best to go in completely blind but at times also knowing a couple key things help to watch it in the right context. I can think of Kinds of Kindness where I knew in advance that it were 3 different stories with the same actors and for it to be a Yorgos Lanthimos so there was a reference what to expect. For a movie like The Menu it would have been nice to know in advance that it was a satire. It's one of the things I try to do with these blog posts is to set a right frame of what you need to know about the movie to enjoy it most.

Thanks for stopping by!
