Last Sunday I wanted to watch a fun light-weight movie without the need to think much which for me was the perfect time to watch Carry-on which had been on my watchlist for a while. I heard ok things about it and liked the trailer which I watched a while ago so I expected for it to be just entertaining without anything more. Some have compared this movie to Die Hard and I can see the similarities as it takes place during christmas in an airport with terrorists. It is a movie with an original script which is rare these days and I certainly do respect that. The lead actor is Taron Egerton who I firts thought was Joseph Gordon-Levitt as he looks a lot like him but at the same time looks way yoiunger. Jason Bateman also has a lead role and he was pretty good as the villain.

Spoiler-Free Movie Plot:

"Young Ethan Kopek works for the Transportation Security Administration and oversees the safety of the traveling public on a daily basis. During Christmas he is blackmailed by a mysterious traveler. The latter tries to let a dangerous package pass through security so that it can be taken on a packed flight. Ethan will have to do his best to outsmart him"

With this movie you pretty much get what you expect in that it's a fun time with an original plot which isn't by any means groundbreaking. The setting and acting is good and it's enjoyable to watch without much more.

The initial character development of the main character and his girlfriend is pretty standard and uninspired. The main villain and the conversations are actually quite good and interesting while the movie stayed quite entertaining during its entire 2 Hour runtime.

This said, I had a fun time watching this one which was the main reason why I put in on in the first place. It was an original story but at the same time everything was pretty basic and nothing was done what had not been done before so I'm left with mixed feelings and give it a 6.9/10. This movie certainly is watchable as you kind of know what you are going to get and if that is what you want.
