La mezcla perfecta de la alta cocina y el drama: The Bear

The Bear regresa con una nueva temporada y definitivamente hay sentimientos encontrados. Pero para poder hablar de ella, primero tenemos que hacer un repaso por las temporadas pasadas, así que aquí va una reseña.

Produced by Christopher Storer and starring Jeremy Allen White. The bear is one of the most promising series at the Emmys with 23 nominations.  

The Bear is back with a new season and there are definitely mixed feelings. But in order to talk about it, we first have to review the past seasons, so here's a review. 

Con una fotografía fría, despiadada y sobria vemos como Storer nos sumerge en una historia llena de matices que envuelven la depresión y ansiedad a tal punto en que sientes un nudo en la garganta cada que avanzan los capítulos.

Carmen Berzatto es un chef de renombre en la alta cocina que cada vez está más catapultado al estrellato culinario y tiene que regresar a su natal chicago donde se debe hacer cargo del restaurante de su hermano mayor que acaba de fallecer. Al igual que debe sobrellevar el duelo y el estrés que es perder a un ser querido.

The Bear nos muestra a un Carmen (Carmy) estresado y tratando de sacar adelante The Beef junto a su nueva sous chef, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) la cual es una fiel seguidora de su trabajo y lo ve como un mentor.

With a cold, ruthless and sober photography we see how Storer immerses us in a story full of nuances that involve depression and anxiety to such an extent that you feel a lump in your throat every time the chapters advance.  

Carmen Berzatto is a renowned chef in haute cuisine who is increasingly catapulted to culinary stardom and has to return to his native Chicago where he must take over the restaurant of his older brother who has just passed away. As he must cope with the grief and stress of losing a loved one. 

The Bear shows us a stressed Carmen (Carmy) trying to move The Beef forward with his new sous chef, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) who is a loyal follower of his work and sees him as a mentor.

Definitivamente, esta es una serie con una historia atrapante, junto a actuaciones excepcionales que te hacen sentir a flor de piel el frenesí y la pasión culinaria que consume a los personajes. Es verdaderamente hermoso como puedes tener tanta empatía con una escena de un hombre cuarentón deprimido cantando Taylor Swift.

Con una mezcla de sabores y drama The Bear te dice sutilmente está bien no estar bien. Realmente lo que más me llamo la atención fue la sombría y espontánea manera en que los recuerdos te pueden hacer sentir parte de la situación que se desarrolla en cada capítulo.

La evolución de los personajes es algo simplemente perfecto, ver cómo van creciendo personalmente y mejorando su desempeño laboral gracias a la experiencia y consejos de Carmy es algo que a lo largo de las temporadas puedes disfrutar gracias a la naturalidad con la que transcurren las cosas. Definitivamente, uno de mis capítulos favoritos es el de Tina.

This is definitely a series with a gripping story, along with exceptional performances that make you feel the frenzy and culinary passion that consumes the characters. It's truly beautiful how you can have so much empathy with a scene of a depressed 40-something man singing Taylor Swift. 

With a mix of flavors and drama The Bear subtly tells you it's okay not to be okay. Really what struck me most was the somber and spontaneous way the flashbacks can make you feel a part of the situation that unfolds in each chapter.  

The evolution of the characters is something simply perfect, to see how they grow personally and improve their work performance thanks to Carmy's experience and advice is something that throughout the seasons you can enjoy thanks to the naturalness with which things happen. Definitely, one of my favorite chapters is Tina's one. 

Claro que también esta serie no está compuesta por momentos felices, en lo absoluto y el episodio seis de la segunda temporada lo deja en claro.

La depresión y la ansiedad juegan un papel importante dentro de este mundo culinario. Vemos la evolución de sydney dentro de la cocina y como poco a poco se va apagando debido al estrés y traumas de Carmy (que poco a poco se va convirtiendo en lo que siempre ha odiado y la fuente de sus traumas)

Las actuaciones especiales tampoco se pueden dejar de lado. Olivia Coleman, Jamie Lee Curtis y Bob Odenkirk a pesar de sus cortas apariciones dejan su notable huella con una cantidad de frases que, si eres una persona inestable emocionalmente como yo, definitivamente te van a marcar.

Of course, this series is not made up of happy moments, not at all, and episode six of the second season makes that clear. 

Depression and anxiety play an important role in this culinary world. We see Sydney's evolution within the kitchen and how she slowly fades away due to Carmy's stress and traumas (which is slowly becoming what she has always hated and the source of her traumas). 

The special performances can't be left out either. Olivia Coleman, Jamie Lee Curtis and Bob Odenkirk despite their short appearances leave their notable mark with a number of lines that, if you are an emotionally unstable person like me, will definitely leave a mark on you.

The bear es una serie que en tres temporadas no ha flaqueado ni por un segundo la trama y los característicos gritos dentro y fuera de la cocina. A pesar de que sus nominaciones sean en la categoría de humor creo que esta serie va mucho más allá. Puede ser uno de los mejores dramas de los últimos tiempos y definitivamente la recomendaría a alguien que está buscando una serie que te enganche desde el primer segundo.

The bear is a series that in three seasons has not faltered for a second in plot and the characteristic screams in and out of the kitchen. Even though its nominations are in the humor category I think this series goes way beyond that. It may be one of the best dramas of recent times and I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for a series that hooks you from the first second.
