(ESP-ENG) The Shining. (Analysis)

Esta vez toca hablar de la adaptación cinematográfica de la obra literaria del Rey del horror, Stephen King. Hoy hablaré del Resplandor, obra dirigida por Stanley Kubrick, el cual tuvo el laborioso trabajo de tomar las riendas para esta adaptación a la pantalla grande.

El Resplandor cuenta la historia de Jack Torrance, un hombre alcohólico y desempleado, el cual se muda con su familia al Hotel Overlook para ser el nuevo cuidador durante el invierno. Todo esto sin imaginarse los horrores que él y su familia vivirán ahí dentro.

Antes que nada, una buena película, no es nada sin un buen director y Stanley Kubrick sin dudas era un genio. Te puede agradar Kubrick o no, pero en lo que sí no hay duda es en la elaboración de su trabajo. En cada toma, cada cosa está ahí por una razón. Kubrick era un obsesivo con llegar a la perfección en su trabajo, era capaz de repetir tomas hasta 100 veces, es por eso que muchas veces la desesperación y la ira de los personajes es real.

La película es una obra maestra en el horror visual y psicológico. Ya que lo que genera terror no son ni ruidos fuertes o imágenes rápidas, son las actuaciones y los sentimientos, muchas veces reales que los actores sienten.

Algo que ya al inicio hace resaltar, es la cámara. Este filme está grabado de una manera que te hace sentir que la cámara es otra persona, como si esta estuviese persiguiendo y asechando a los personajes.

Los diferentes ángulos de la cámara en ciertas tomas, hacen sentir al espectador diferentes emociones, como: ansiedad, terror, claustrofobia, etc. Tomemos como ejemplo a quizás la escena más icónica, la escena de cuando Jack está rompiendo la puerta con el hacha. En dicha escena la cámara juega un papel en el cual parece que también actúa junto con el hacha.

Una de las características de la mayoría de los personajes, es su casi nula expresividad. Cuando hablan lo hacen de una forma pausada y creando unos silencios que envuelven al espectador en una atmósfera de tensión. Y un gran contraste acerca de esto se ve ya al final, donde pasamos a ver las expresivas caras de demencia de Jack y las asustadas caras de su hijo y esposa.

Una buena película que te quiera sumergir en el horror, no lo logra sin una excelente y efectiva banda sonora. Mediante las obras musicales que presenta la película, envuelve al espectador conforme pasan las escenas.

Ahora tomemos a la dirección de las cámaras y al ambiente sonoro y así conseguimos una atmósfera que te sumerge en el horror. Tomemos de Ejemplo a la escena de Danny en el triciclo: la cámara lo va siguiendo como si lo estuviera alcanzando, la música creando un entorno que te adentra cada vez más en la escena y de repente...

Sin duda alguna esta es una película que tienes que ver al menos una vez en tu vida, te aseguro que al acabarla de ver te dejará pensando.

This time it's time to talk about the film adaptation of the literary work of the King of horror, Stephen King. Today I will talk about The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick, who had the laborious job of taking the reins for this adaptation to the big screen.

The Shining tells the story of Jack Torrance, an alcoholic and unemployed man, who moves with his family to the Overlook Hotel to be the new caretaker for the winter. All this without imagining the horrors that he and his family will live there.

First of all, a good film is nothing without a good director and Stanley Kubrick was undoubtedly a genius. You can like Kubrick or not, but there is no doubt about the elaboration of his work. In every shot, everything is there for a reason. Kubrick was obsessive about reaching perfection in his work, he was able to repeat shots up to 100 times, that's why many times the desperation and anger of the characters is real.

The film is a masterpiece in visual and psychological horror. What generates terror are not loud noises or fast images, but the performances and the often real feelings that the actors feel.

Something that stands out at the beginning is the camera. This film is shot in a way that makes you feel that the camera is another person, as if it were chasing and stalking the characters.

The different camera angles in certain shots make the viewer feel different emotions, such as: anxiety, terror, claustrophobia, etc. Let's take as an example perhaps the most iconic scene, the scene when Jack is breaking the door with the axe. In this scene the camera plays a role in which it also seems to act together with the axe.

One of the characteristics of most of the characters is their almost null expressiveness. When they speak, they do so in a leisurely manner, creating silences that envelop the viewer in an atmosphere of tension. And a great contrast about this is seen already at the end, where we see the expressive faces of Jack's dementia and the frightened faces of his son and wife.

A good film that wants to immerse you in horror, does not succeed without an excellent and effective soundtrack. Through the musical works presented in the film, it envelops the viewer as the scenes pass by.

Now let's take the direction of the cameras and the sound environment and we get an atmosphere that immerses you in horror. Take for example the scene of Danny on the tricycle: the camera follows him as if it were catching up with him, the music creates an environment that draws you deeper and deeper into the scene and suddenly...

Undoubtedly this is a movie that you have to see at least once in your life, I assure you that when you finish watching it, it will leave you thinking.
