The old guard (netflix movie review)

Saludos Hivers, feliz viernes tengan todos, ya se viene el fin de semana, pero por este lado no hay descanso, pues hay muchas cosas que hacer, entre los estudios que por cierto se acerca la fecha de presentación de proyecto, las cosas personales de la vida cotidiana y por supuesto la campaña de Inleo para este mes.

Pero bueno, hubo un espacio estos días tras para ver alguna que otra película y la de hoy fue una de mis favoritas. Desde la primera vez que tuve acceso a netflix, colocaba en mi lista está película, pero de alguna forma u otra siempre se me olvidaba verla.

Da la casualidad que mi pareja la escogió ahora reciente para verla y obviamente no me opuse, era la oportunidad para hacerlo y debo decir que para mí fue perfecta.

Lo primero llamativo a mi gusto es el hecho de que la protagonista es nada más y nada menos que Charlize Theron, una de las mejores actuaciones femeninas cuando se trata de una película ruda y de acción.

[English Text] Greetings Hivers, happy Friday to all, the weekend is coming, but on this side there is no rest, because there are many things to do, between the studies that by the way is approaching the date of presentation of the project, personal things of everyday life and of course the Inleo campaign for this month.


But well, there was a space these days to watch a movie or two and today's movie was one of my favorites. Since the first time I had access to netflix, I put this movie on my list, but somehow or another I always forgot to watch it.


It so happens that my partner chose it now recently to watch it and obviously I did not oppose, it was the opportunity to do so and I must say that for me it was perfect.


The first striking thing to my taste is the fact that the protagonist is nothing more and nothing less than Charlize Theron, one of the best female performances when it comes to a rough and action movie.

Sinceramente nunca ví el tráiler de la película la atención estaba solo por la actriz, pero me he llegado una sorpresa y no con su actuación porque u estoy acostumbrado a su actuación impecable.

Creo que ya sido más el hecho de pensar que se iba a tratar solo de una película de acción donde un grupo de agentes son contratados para hacer ciertas misiones clandestinas para un país o cliente específico.

Pero no, la cosa es que la historia en si y la trama se basa en este grupo de 5 personas que tienen algo en común, no pueden morir. Bueno, no es que sean totalmente inmortales pues todo siempre tiene un fin y el el típico central o mensaje que tiene la trama para los espectadores.

La primera persona en experimentar ese "don" de la inmortalidad es el papel que desempeña Theron en ests trama y quién va consiguiendo y reclutando durante su aventura en el mundo a estás personas cuyo don se les activa, por así decirlo.

Hay una escena en particular donde una mujer de la milicia bastante bondadosa y respetuosa de la vida es asesinada por alguien y cuya vida se apaga, hasta que al rato su cuerpo empieza a experimentar ciertos cambios que le provee de una regeneración acelerada de sus heridas.

Por supuesto inexplicable a simple vista y algo que pudiera espantar o alertar a cualquiera. Y esto se ve en varias escenas de rechazo hacia esta mujer una vez que recupere la conciencia y los demás ven que no solo pudo sobrevivir a una herida mortal también no quedo cicatriz alguna de su herida.

! [English Text] Honestly I never saw the trailer of the movie, the attention was only for the actress, but I was surprised and not with her performance because I'm used to her impeccable acting.


I think it was more the fact that I thought it was going to be just an action movie where a group of agents are hired to do certain clandestine missions for a specific country or client.


But no, the thing is that the story itself and the plot is based on this group of 5 people who have something in common, they can't die. Well, not that they are totally immortal because everything always has an end and the typical central or message that the plot has for the viewers.


The first person to experience the "gift" of immortality is the role that Theron plays in this plot and who is getting and recruiting during his adventure in the world to these people whose gift is activated, so to speak.


There is one scene in particular where a rather kind and respectful of life militia woman is killed by someone and her life is snuffed out, until after a while her body begins to undergo certain changes that provides her with an accelerated regeneration of her wounds.


Of course inexplicable to the naked eye and something that could frighten or alert anyone. And this is seen in several scenes of rejection towards this woman once she regains consciousness and the others see that not only could she survive a mortal wound but also that there was no scar left from her wound.

Al mismo momento este grupo de personas con el don de la inmortalidad "sueñan" con esta mujer, algo como un tipo de conexión que tienen entre ellos, y pues facilita la ubicación y búsqueda del nuevo miembro.

Sin embargo las cosas se complican pues se ha descubierto el poder que tienen para regenerarse y un laboratorio busca obtener respuesta sobre ello a costa de lo que sea.

Así que de heroes se convierten en víctimas del sistema, pues son acosados y cazados para su captura y posterior experimentación con sus cuerpos.

La cuestión es que estás personas no contaban con la presencia del nuevo miembro quien es la persona clave para la salvación de este grupo.

Sin embargo la inmortalidad como les mencioné tiene un fin y es más cercano para aquellos que tienen mucho tiempo viviendo, simplemente en algún momento de sus vidas dejarán de regenerarse y por ende pueden morir como cualquier otra persona.

! [English Text] At the same time this group of people with the gift of immortality "dream" with this woman, something like a kind of connection they have between them, and then facilitates the location and search for the new member.


However, things get complicated because they have discovered the power they have to regenerate and a laboratory seeks to get an answer about it at any cost.

However, immortality as I mentioned has an end and it is closer for those who have a long time living, simply at some point in their lives they will stop regenerating and therefore they can die like anyone else.

Lo interesante es que este grupo ayudó a que muchas cosas valiosas en la humanidad se llevarán a cabo, es como que salvar a tal persona hizo que se pudiera crear la cura de una enfermedad mortal o que se evitará ciertas guerras.

Estás personas tenían un propósito y escogían muy bien en dónde y cómo usar ese don de la inmortalidad.

Para mejor la cuestión Netflix aún no ha rechazado la idea de hacer una nueva película, siendo la segunda parte de esta saga cuyo primer final los dejara con la boca abierta.

! [English Text] The interesting thing is that this group helped many valuable things in humanity to come to fruition, such as saving such a person made it possible to create a cure for a deadly disease or to avoid certain wars.


These people had a purpose and they chose very well where and how to use that gift of immortality.


To make matters better Netflix has not yet rejected the idea of making a new movie, being the second part of this saga whose first ending will leave you with your mouth open.
