Absolute Beginners (netflix series review)

Excellent weekend for everyone, today I woke up early in order to bring you my review of this series that I found quite interesting, however I note that it is not a plot for all audiences, you have to be very open minded and see a little beyond what they show you in the scene.

It is a series to feel, to become empathetic people and even to become the protagonists of each story that guards this teenage plot whose issues are a reality today and seriously affects.

We are all beginners in something, even in things that could be seen in a bad way but that are part of our nature as for example the sexual theme and its diversity in terms of gender taste.

With this I mean that this series has a fairly pronounced sexual theme, there are scenes of sex and nudity so if you are not a fan of this, it is best to avoid watching it, if you are one of those who are not uncomfortable this will pass to the background because the most interesting thing has nothing to do with these explicit scenes.

The first focus of this Polish series is that of two best friends looking to make a home movie that demonstrates the skill and creativity they both have for this type of art. The story they want to create is one of love in which they both have never experienced so it is quite a challenge for them.

However, we do not find a pair of teenagers, it is a girl with autism spectrum and a young man who is a little asocial and even makes us think he is asexual. The eloquent thing about this pair of friends is that they are not afraid of the new, or to be honest when they feel trust with the other person.

These elements of personalities lead them to meet a young basketball player who becomes one of the protagonists of the movie they are filming. Luckily for them, this young man is a sexual experimenter who is very useful for their goal.

This series also has an element of comedy but it is quite indirect because the creativity that the autistic girl has is something that made me laugh a lot because she has no filters to show the sexual things she thinks, she draws them, thinks them, and wants to recreate them as if it were something so simple to do, that is to say, she feels no shame or embarrassment.

This series also covers interesting topics such as psychological abuse not as a precedent of bullying, but rather as an effect of the problems that adolescents go through in their lives, the lack of parental or even educational part that forms them with values.

Something that can even lead them to think that their lives have no meaning and there is a particular case where we see that someone tries to commit suicide on the beach as a way to free himself from all those chains that have tied him.

This strong scene marks the beginning of a friendship for three people with different personal problems, in the case of the autistic girl she has an overprotective mother who feels very dependent on her family at the same time, in the case of her best friend, apart from his health problems with his heart, his parents are facing an uncontested divorce, and in the last case, a young man who does not know what to do with his personal and sexual life.

So we are talking about processes of denial and acceptance, where each character is the protagonist of his own story and more when each one of the events unfolds, and I think it is great that it has not focused only on one story, it was very good the way they took to make each one of them feel and the result of them.

So it's a series with a lot of emotion that might make you feel a bit uncomfortable at times. I recommend being open-minded to truly enjoy its essence and message.

For these young people, it's a first time for everything—both the good things like a kiss, sexual relations, and exploring their sexuality, and the bad things like facing the present and future of their lives, as well as dealing with their parents' issues and the burdens of the past.

The ending was quite unexpected for me. Although this series is classified for an LGBT audience, I don't really consider that its essence definitively fits within this classification. It's a series for teenagers, in which many might find themselves reflected. There's a very interesting inclusion theme where you experience the life of an autistic person and the challenges they face.

Dependency is the most central theme of the series, teaching us that we all have different paths to take according to what we really want to do with our lives. We should not judge the person who was with us for a long time, because, in the end, everyone has different lives and dreams.
