Although the main reason why i decide to visit X-Men 97 was because of the nostalgia i felt about the og 90s series, i was surprised when i found a sequel so faithful to the original essence, besides, employing the virtues of streaming as a format to enhance his argument to a denser plane.

With this I do not mean that the animated series of the 90s was not mature, quite the opposite, it knew how to intelligently mix the typical entertainment that we would expect from a Saturday morning cartoon, with the more serious and complex themes that have accompanied the mutants since their inception. conception: discrimination, racism, and the internal struggle that faces every person who does not feel comfortable within their own body.

It would have been easy to take those same ideas and take them to an edgy and irreverent level (something very common during this last decade), but instead, we find ourselves before a powerful and honest portrait that gives all its main characters time to shine, and that with only two episodes manages to win our hearts.

We live in a good time for animation, where works like Invincible or Arcane have shown that there is room for all tastes and colors, and that if we move away from those most bitter stigmas of the format (infantilization) we will see what the potential is. practically unlimited.

The two episodes that have been released of X-Men 97 have been enough to invest their viewers in a large number of plots and characters: from the internal conflict that Cyclops and Jean Gray suffer when having to choose between the comfort of their future daughter the integrity of the X-Men, to Magneto's ambiguous transformation to the side of good.

A brilliant starter that's easy to get excited about.

Aunque la razón principal por la cual decidí visitar X-Men 97 fue debido a la nostalgia que siento por la serie original de los 90s, admito que me terminó sorprendiendo encontrarme con una secuela tan fiel a la misma, que no solo sabe mimicar fielmente la esencia de la original, sino que aparte emplea las escasas virtudes del streaming para llevar su argumento a un plano más denso.

Con esto no quiero decir que la serie animada de los 90s no era madura, todo lo contrario, sabía mezclar con inteligencia el entretenimiento típico que esperaríamos de un Saturday morning cartoons, con los temas más serios y complejos que han acompañado a los mutantes desde su concepción: la discriminación, el racismo, y la lucha interna que enfrenta cada persona que no se siente cómoda dentro de su propio cuerpo.

Hubiese Sido fácil tomar esas mismas ideas para llevarlas a un plano edgy e irreverente (Algo muy usual durante esta última década), pero en cambio, nos encontramos ante un retrato poderoso y honesto que le deja a todos sus personajes protagonistas tiempo para brillar, y que con solo dos episodios logra ganarse nuestro corazón.

Vivimos en una buena época para la animación, en dónde obras como Invincible o Arcane ha demostrado que existe espacio para todos los gustos y los colores, y que si nos alejamos de aquellos estigmas mas amargos del formato (La infantilizacion) veremos qué el potencial es prácticamente ilimitado.

Los dos episodios que se han estrenado de X-Men 97 han bastado para invertir a sus espectadores en una gran cantidad de tramas y personajes: desde el conflicto interno que sufren Cyclops y Jean Gray al tener que escoger entre la comodidad de su futura hija y la integridad de los X-Men, hasta la ambigua transformación de Magneto al lado del bien.

Un arranque brillante con el que es fácil sentirse emocionado.
