The final season of What We Do in the Shadows

"All good things must come to an end" I can't stop thinking about this phrase from the moment I found out that the sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows would be the last, and even though the comedy inspired by Taika Waititi's iconic film doesn't have such a large fan base (especially if we compare it to other popular culture phenomena like The Office or Friends), it's undeniable that since its first year it was a breath of fresh air within the television landscape, a landscape that at least in terms of comedies has been a bit lacking in recent years.
It's no wonder, the idea of mixing the mockumentary format with supernatural creatures like vampires in the lead role was brilliant, especially if used as a framework to contrast our current society with the reality that these monsters that have been among us for years lived.
However, even though this idea feels like a diamond in the rough, not everyone could have executed it with such elegance, which is why we can only appreciate the ability of Jermaine Clement and the team of writers to surprise us and make us laugh year after year.
In fact, although I have had a bit of trouble catching up on series lately, amidst the laziness and daily worries of my adult life, I have always found spaces to reconnect with Nadja, Laszlo, Nandor and Guillermo, and I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen it yet to give it a chance.
It is painful that after six years things have to end, but at the same time I remember with bitterness other examples of series that have not known how to die in time, and I am grateful that What We Do In the Shadows is able to close on a high note, relegating the continuation of its universe to other spin-offs that I am sure will be just as entertaining.
As for the content of the sixth season, there are still a couple of episodes left to be released, things are going well and I'm sure it will end the same way.
