The Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010) review: a moron stuck with a bunch of morons.

After failing to watch its animated counterparts released on Disney Plus, I felt it was a good time to give one of the most important children's films of recent decades a chance for the first time: The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, inspired by a Book series created by Jeff Kinney.

My expectations were low, I admit, but I knew that in the worst case I would find at least one film that was fun and loved by its audience, something evident considering the absurd number of memes that both this and its sequels had produced throughout. . of the years.

The funny thing about the whole thing is that although its quality is nothing out of this world, I do feel that it contains within it one of the most organic and "realistic" explorations of what pre-adolescence represents, something fascinating considering that it comes from the perspective of a rather unpleasant protagonist, something that could sound quite alarming, but that works very well within the dynamic of actions-consequences that permeates the entire film.

And although the starting point of Diary of a Wimpy Kid is quite simple and generic (We see a boy trying to fight with everything that starting middle school entails), the execution of it is what ends up elevating him to another level as a simple but forceful piece of humor, where the little ones in the house can feel identified and the "older ones" can remember what we experienced in the past with nostalgia.

This proposal has its flaws, of course, starting from the fact that in terms of structure it can feel like a sequence of Gags loosely united by a plot that hardly sustains itself, even so, I think that this same disorganization ends up playing his favor, being extremely reminiscent of the comic strip origins of this story.

It is very easy to connect with her and she knows how to capture very well the essence of our pre-adolescence, where we mentally increased the scale of the problems to absurd amounts and, trying to solve things, we ended up making everything a little worse.

Luego de fracasar tratando de ver sus contrapartes animadas estrenadas en Disney Plus, sentí que era un buen momento para darle una oportunidad por primera vez a una de las películas infantiles más importantes de las últimas décadas: the diary of a wimpy kid, inspirada en una serie de libros creados por Jeff Kinney.

Mis expectativas estaban bajas, lo admito, pero sabía que en el peor de los casos me encontraría con al menos un film divertido y querido por su público, algo evidente considerando la absurda cantidad de memes que tanto este cómo sus secuelas habían producido a lo largo de los años.

Lo gracioso de todo el asunto es que aunque su calidad no es nada del otro mundo, si siento que contiene en sus entrañas una de las exploraciones más orgánicas y "realistas" de lo que representa la preadolescencia, algo fascinante considerando que viene de la perspectiva de un protagonista bastante desagradable, algo que podría sonar bastante alarmente, pero que funciona muy bien dentro de la dinámica de acciones-consecuencias que empapa toda la película.

Y es que si bien el punto de partida de Diary of a Wimpy Kid es bastante simple y genérico (Vemos a un chico tratando de luchar con todo lo que implica iniciar la Middle school), la ejecución de la misma es lo que termina elevándolo a otro nivel como una pieza de humor sencilla pero contundente, en dónde los más pequeños de la casa pueden sentirse identificados y los"mayores" podemos recordar lo vivido en el pasado con nostalgia.

Esta propuesta tiene sus fallas, por supuesto, partiendo por el hecho de que en términos de estructura puede sentirse como una secuencia de Gags unidos vagamente por una trama que difícilmente se sostiene a si misma, aún así, creo que está misma desorganización termina jugando a su favor, siendo extremadamente reminscente a los orígenes en tiras cómicas de esta historia.

Es muy fácil conectar con ella y sabe capturar muy bien la esencia de nuestra preadolescencia, en dónde mentalmente aumentabamos la escala de los problemas en cantidades absurdas y, tratando de solucionar las cosas terminabamos empeorando todo un poco más.
