Turn It Up! | Beats Movie Review
For a family movie night, my family bought some snacks and we watched a movie called Beats.
Beats is centered around a 17-year old beat-creator named August, who suffers from PTSD after a tragic event in his past.
Ever since then, August hasn’t left his home, keeping to making beats in his room. His school sends out one of the security guards, a man named Romelo, to find August and get him back in school. But when Romelo hears some of August's beats, he decides to help him go further in his musical career that could make August a lot of money. But one of the first steps is getting August out of the house, and letting his beats see the real world.

There were lots of great actors in this film, including Anthony Anderson and rapper/singer Dreezy. All the actors played their roles well and you could clearly understand the motives and personality of each character.

There was a lot to like about this movie, but the biggest thing for me was the music. August's beats were catchy, and so good that you could easily believe that Romelo saw talent in this boy. The majority of the music in this movie is really good, and I especially liked Queen Cabrina's (played by Dreezy) raps.
My favorite character of them all might have to be Romelo. He is one of those people who knows how to root for and encourage others. Though he has his flaws, Romelo is a great mentor figure for August and shines bright in this movie.
One of the things I felt fell short in this movie was the plot holes. What happens between Romelo and his wife? Does Niyah forgive August for what he did? There were lot's of unanswered questions at the end of this movie.
I also thought the ending was WAY too open. August's dream is to become a star beats-maker, and Romelo wants to help him get there. It feels like the movie ended when their journey was halfway done. I was left wondering if Agust was going to get a music deal or not.
Overall, in my opinion Beats was a 9/10. It was a great story, but the ending left me hungry for closure.
Había mucho que me gustaba de esta película, pero lo más importante para mí era la música. Los ritmos de August eran pegadizos, y tan buenos que fácilmente podrías creer que Romelo vio talento en este chico. La mayoría de la música de esta película es realmente buena, y me gustaron especialmente los rapeos de Queen Cabrina (interpretada por Dreezy).
Mi personaje favorito de todos podría ser Romelo. Él es una de esas personas que sabe cómo alentar y alentar a los demás. Aunque tiene sus defectos, Romelo es una gran figura de mentor para August y brilla intensamente en esta película.
Una de las cosas que sentí que se quedaron cortas en esta película fueron los agujeros de la trama. ¿Qué pasa entre Romelo y su esposa? ¿Perdona Niyah a August por lo que hizo? Hubo muchas preguntas sin respuesta al final de esta película.

Parece que la película terminó cuando su viaje estaba a mitad de camino. Me quedé preguntándome si Agust iba a conseguir un contrato musical o no.
En general, en mi opinión, * Beats * fue un 9/10. Fue una gran historia, pero el final me dejó hambriento de cierre.
