RUSH HOUR (1998)
THE PLOT
RUSH HOUR is about two unlikely personnel's a Hong Kong cop inspector Lee and a streetwise LAPD detective James Carter who have to work together to rescue a kidnapped Chinese diplomat's daughter
Inspector Lee was a very skilled but underrated officer of the Hong Kong Police Force He was very exceptional in his fighting strategies and his unwavering dedication to his duties He was assigned to rescue Soo Yung the daughter of Ambassador Han the Chinese consulate in Los Angeles
As the kidnapping case was concerning the Chinese Ambassador the Chinese government wanted to handle the situation more discreetly without involving the American authorities inspector Lee had to go to Los Angeles and work secretly on the case His mission was to investigate the abduction and rescue the little girl without the help of the FBI or even the local police to avoid international tensions
However Lee was faced with the challenge of the LAPD who also wants to be involved in the case and they deployed Detective James Carter to work with inspector Lee
Detective Carter was a really fast talking funny LAPD officer although James is good at his work his is more interested in drawing attention to himself than focusing on solving the problem at hand He was assigned to be a guide to Lee this didn't go well with James because he wanted so much to be a part of the mission than being a babysitter to the Chinese cop
Lee and Carter met at the airport for the first time and that was were the whole clash started at first James thought Lee doesn't speak or hear English and that contributed to his frustration where as Lee on the other hand has been irritated by James loudness and nonchalant attitude however reluctantly James agrees to help Lee seeing how serious the mission was to him
The two began their investigation in the kidnapping of Soo Yung following a lead to a well known notorious criminal Juntao who was an arms dealer connected to international criminal syndicates and has a personal beef against the Chinese government it was during this investigation that the two detectives discovered that Juntao was also into smuggling bribery and corruption as the situation becomes more complicated they realized that there was a link between the kidnappers and the corrupt American businessman who was always there sympathizing with the Chinese Ambassador they detectives also realized that the little girl was been held hostage at a mansion
As the operation intensifies James and Lee differing approaches to policing work kept on clashing with James always wanting to use his street smart and fast talking tactics to be the lead head he was a good comedic relief whereas Lee relies on his calm demeanour approach to the situation with his marital arts expertise even made the movie more interesting
The two working together was more fantastic
Although they weren't in agreement in the initial regardless they had to forget the past and work together towards fulfilling their main goal and as time goes on they both started respecting each other's abilities and differences and also learn from each other
They were able to track down the criminals after high speed car chase an intense fight scenes and many times of narrow escapes but now in a more dangerous situation as Soon Yung’s life is at risk and they can only save her if they work together
Together the confronted Juntao and his armed men James used his fast thinking skill to outsmart the bad guys and Lee using his martial arts moves takes on many assailants in a series of jaw dropping blows finally they were able to rescue Soo Yung
Lee and James created a bond between themselves during their time together that even when Lee was to go back to his country James jokingly suggested he stays in Los Angeles and work with the LAPD of cause our mission minded Lee wouldn't agreed to that offer as his has many other duties to fulfill at home
MY REVIEW
RUSH HOURS is just the definition of one can chase a thousand but two can chase ten thousand I loved the way the worked together no matter their individual difference to accomplish their goal and also the comic attributes made it more interesting Lee's acrobatic martial arts skills and James charismatic comedic performance were so exceptional the light of it were so detailed if not perfect if I were to rate I will definitely give them my five stars

This sounds fun and I like the fact that it has a whole comedy side to it. I can imagine how the whole movie goes with two people, opposite sides of a coin working together. Nice review.
