(ENG/SPA) MAL de OJO getting to know Mexican horror folklore Amazon Prime Review
The Light and Modernity of the times we fortunately live in have allowed us to create an armor that protects us from what is hidden in the darkness, those stories that all our World has which vary from region to region but all of them have in common that they are born of terror and many of these proliferate with human evil, our ancestors were very wise and in their own way knew that many evils are born of selfishness and greed of not only the material, but everything that our cursed eyes can see and desire.
Evil Eye also called Mal de Ojo for Latin America is a film that you can watch on Amazon Prime whose darkness focuses on those ancient stories that many of us already know of demons, witches, etc. but with the addition of developing as the climax of the film that Evil Eye that perhaps many have not heard and that's why I recommend it because it is present in the past of our regions either to a greater or lesser extent, the film has inspiration from the Mexican region where I notice that their culture knows very well of this dark evil which I link with my region which is Venezuela because I have also heard of this evil and maybe you have also heard of it.
La Luz y La Modernidad de los tiempos que afortunadamente vivimos nos han permitido crear una coraza que nos protege de lo que está oculto en la oscuridad, esas historias que todo nuestro Mundo tiene las cuales varían de región en región pero todas ellas tienen en común que nacen del terror y muchas de estas proliferan con la maldad humana, nuestros antepasados eran muy sabios y a su manera sabían que muchos males nacen del egoísmo y la codicia de no solo lo material, sino de todo lo que nuestros ojos malditos pueden ver y desear.
Evil Eye también llamada Mal de Ojo para Latinoamérica es un film que puedes ver en Amazon Prime cuyas tinieblas se centran en esas historias antiguas que ya muchos conocemos de demonios, brujas, etc pero con el agregado de desarrollar como clímaX del film ese Mal de Ojo que tal vez muchos no han escuchado y justo por eso la recomiendo porque está presente en el pasado de nuestras regiones ya sea en mayor o en menor medida, el film tiene inspiración de la región Mexicana donde noto que su cultura conoce muy bien de este mal oscuro el cual enlazo con mi región la cual es Venezuela porque también he escuchado de ese mal y quizás tú también hayas oído de él.
I think some of you have heard the term malignant with which this film is titled and having been so, it is because you had someone close to you or your relatives who unfortunately were not having a good time, the great detail is that I perceive an extremely ambiguous concept, so much so that I think each region has deformed and adapted to their lifestyles and customs.
In your case if you have never heard the term, I still encourage you to see the film to know this version of Mexican folklore in the imagination of its Director and Writers of that dark evil they call Mal de Ojo, I think it is not superfluous to know about those things that make bad through this kind of films and that maybe someday may affect you.
It is an entertaining film to watch but lacks a lot of solid performances and script, I will name the elements that I consider more positive and those details to criticize in which the film itself drowns in the void.
Pienso que algunos de ustedes han escuchado el termino maligno con el que se titula esta película y al haber sido así, es porque tuvieron alguien cercano a ustedes o sus familiares que lamentablemente no la estaban pasando bien, el gran detalle es que percibo un concepto en extremo ambiguo, tanto es así que pienso cada región lo ha deformado y adaptado a sus modos de vivir y costumbres.
En tu caso si nunca has escuchado el termino, de igual manera te animo a ver la película para que conozcas esta versión del folklore mexicano en la imaginación de su Director y Escritores de ese mal oscuro al que llaman Mal de Ojo, considero no está de más saber de esas cosas a que hacen mal través de este tipo de películas y que quizás algún día te puedan afectar a ti.
Es un film entretenido de ver pero carece mucho de solidas actuaciones y guion, nombrare los elementos que considero más positivos y esos detalles a criticar en los cuales la misma película se ahoga en el vacío.
- Abigail is the secondary character that saves the film
The film tries to highlight the main characters but the direction and writing is lousy except for the actress Paloma Alvamar in her character of Abigail which is the real element that makes me swim and enjoy the terror that the film wants to transmit despite being a secondary character.
The first thing is that being a film with Mexican essence, it is Abigail who transmits me all that culture and makes me interested and learn more about her and the evil encapsulated that surrounds her.
In the trailer you can see her with her long, black hair and the clothes of a servant of yesteryear in those peasant lands of Mexico, visually she attracts me because she is attractive and transmits me all the magical feeling of her country.
She is the one who gives sense to the whole story to see her, she is a solid narrator who with her charms which seem to be magical, reminds me of the Gitanas, then she guides the story and is the one who gives us the real Mal de Ojo.
- Abigail es El Personaje Secundario que salva el film
La película noto trata de resaltar a los protagonistas pero la dirección y escritura es pésima excepto en La Actriz Paloma Alvamar en su personaje de Abigail la cual es el verdadero elemento que me hace nadar y disfrutar del terror que la película quiere transmitir a pesar de ser secundaria.
Lo primero es que siendo un film con esencia mexicana, es Abigail quien me transmite toda esa cultura y me hace interesarme y conocer más de ella junto a ese encapsulado maligno que le rodea.
En el trailer pueden verla con su cabello largo, negro y ropas de sirvienta de antaño en esas tierras campesinas de México, visualmente me atrae por ser atractiva y transmitirme toda la sensación mágica de su país.
Ella es quien le da sentido a toda la historia para verla, es una sólida narradora que con sus encantos los cuales parecieran ser mágicos, me hace recordar a las Gitanas, entonces guía la historia y es la que nos da el verdadero Mal de Ojo.
The elements to criticize are the following:
- Lousy Casting
Its main character named Nala took me out of the film with her performance too many times, I don't see that she belongs in this movie and she misleads me with her bad expressions.
I think it could at least improve its aesthetics but it is still fatal its moments of terrifying impact because the film as any film that focuses on terror because it has to develop moments that impact, unfortunately she fails to convey any solid sense of terror or panic and fails greatly the choice of vital casting in this case being that she is the protagonist of the story.
- Flaws in the Direction and Writing of the story
I think the title is evident in what the film should convey but it strays into other entities for too long, these things could have been greatly improved with writing because I had to watch several times to catch the actual evil eye while other evil concepts I didn't want to see took up many minutes of story.
It is in the above where the film loses many points but it is still attractive to watch because by focusing on Abigail and what she wants to convey, the film makes a peak to the sky that left me with a very good feeling and that is exactly why I invite you to see it.
Los elementos a criticar son los siguientes:
- Pésimos Casting
Su protagonista llamada Nala me saco de film con su actuación demasiadas veces, no veo que pertenezca a esta película y me desubica con sus malas expresiones.
Pienso se pudo al menos mejorar su estética pero sigue siendo fatal sus momentos de impacto terrorífico porque el film como toda película que se enfoca en el terror pues tiene que desarrollar momentos que impacten, lamentablemente ella no logra transmitir ninguna sensación solida de terror o pánico y falla enormemente la elección de casting vital en este caso siendo que es protagonista de la historia.
- Fallos en la Dirección y Escritura de la historia
Pienso que el título es evidente en lo que debería transmitir la película pero se desvía en otros entes por demasiado tiempo, estas cosas se pudieron mejorar enormemente con escritura porque tuve que ver varias veces para captar el verdadero mal de ojo mientras que otros conceptos malignos que no quería ver se llevaban muchos minutos de historia.
Es en lo anterior donde la película pierde muchos puntos pero sigue siendo atractiva de ver porque al enfocarme en Abigail y lo que ella quiere transmitir, el film hace un pico al cielo que me dejo con una muy buena sensación y justo es eso por lo cual les invito a verla.
