Reseña: Zona de interés // Review: The Zone of Interest
El holocausto judío debe ser unos de los eventos más trágicos del siglo XX, y por ello cada cierto tiempo tenemos una nueva visión de esos acontecimientos; en esta ocasión, tenemos una producción de A24, estrenada el año pasado y siendo su director Jonathan Glazer.
The Jewish holocaust must be one of the most tragic events of the twentieth century, and therefore every so often we have a new vision of these events; this time, we have a production of A24, released last year and being its director Jonathan Glazer.
Sinopsis: El comandante nazi de Auschwitz, Rudolf Hoss, vive con su familia al costado del campo de concentración. El y su esposa Hedwig intentan formar una familia y una casa agradable para ellos, mientras variados eventos trágicos suceden al costado de su jardín.
Synopsis: The Nazi commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Hoss, lives with his family next to the concentration camp. He and his wife Hedwig try to raise a family and a nice home for themselves, while various tragic events take place in their garden.
Si bien hay una historia, pues la familia tiene que enfrentar una posible separación, ya que Rudolf podría ser trasladado a otra región; lo que realmente se aprecia, es la enajenación y crueldad con lo que varios integrantes de la familia Hoss pasan sus días, ya que al costado de ellos se están cometiendo horribles atrocidades.
While there is a story, as the family has to face a possible separation, as Rudolf may be transferred to another region, what really comes across is the alienation and cruelty with which various members of the Hoss family spend their days, as horrible atrocities are being committed alongside them.
La película no muestra las trágicas escenas de manera directa, sino que es una mezcla de imágenes y sonidos, que nos hacen imaginar el tipo de situaciones que ocurren al cruzar un muro. Desde los gritos de los internos, hasta variadas escenas de unas chimeneas botando humo.
The film does not show the tragic scenes directly, but is a mixture of images and sounds, which make us imagine the kind of situations that occur when crossing a wall. From the screams of the inmates, to various scenes of chimneys billowing smoke.
También hay mucho uso de simbolismos y elipsis para exponer la vida de la familia, desde unas camas separadas hasta un lavado de genitales, que muestra cómo el ser familia es simplemente una fachada para vivir una vida hedonista.
There is also much use of symbolism and ellipsis to expose family life, from separate beds to a washing of genitals, showing how being a family is simply a way to live a hedonistic life.
La fotografía es interesante pero lo que destaca a mi parecer, es el trabajo en música, sonidos y voces, que tratan de alertar a la audiencia, de los hechos que ocurren. Dándole un tono bastante sombrío. La actuación está bien, pero no destaca ninguno en particular. Un punto negativo son ciertas escenas que juegan con la visión nocturna, no funcionan, se siente muy extraño con lo mostrado.
The photography is interesting but what stands out in my opinion, is the work in music, sounds and voices, which try to alert the audience of the events that occur. Giving it a rather somber tone. The acting is fine, but no one in particular stands out. A negative point are certain scenes that play with night vision, they do not work, it feels very strange with what is shown.
Es una película interesante por el tema que aborda, pero puede no ser para todo público, por el ritmo lento y un inicio un tanto contemplativo.
It is an interesting film for the subject matter, but it may not be for all audiences, due to the slow pace and a somewhat contemplative beginning.
