Reseña: No esperes demasiado del fin del mundo // Review: Do not expect too much from the end of the world
Revisando Metacritic, me fijé cuál era la mejor película en el 2024 según su nota y me salió este título, así que decidí darle una oportunidad. Es una película rumana, y creo que es la primera que veo de ese país. Su director es Radu Jude.
Checking Metacritic, I looked at what was the best movie in 2024 according to its score and came up with this title, so I decided to give it a chance. It's a Romanian film, and I think it's the first one I've seen from that country. Its director is Radu Jude.
Sinopsis: Angela Raducanu es una asistente de producción. Ella vive una vida ajetreada, conduciendo y tratando de cumplir sus deberes del trabajo, llegando al límite. Se le encarga conseguir ciertos testimonios de diversos trabajadores para filmar un spot de seguridad laboral.
Synopsis: Angela Raducanu is a production assistant. She lives a hectic life, driving and trying to fulfill her job duties, pushing herself to the limit. She is commissioned to get some testimonies from different workers to film a safety at work spot.
Esta película tiene un tono experimental, partiendo de las diferentes formas de grabación que se usan en todo el filme. A eso se le suma una edición creativa que desarrolla más los que nos quiere dar como mensajes el film.
This film has an experimental tone, starting from the different ways of recording that are used throughout the film. Added to that is a creative editing that further develops what the film wants to give us as messages.
Si bien es una trama lineal y sin muchas sorpresas. El foco de este título es la crítica social y la sátira; ya que muestra de diversas maneras la distancia entre los que mandan y los que reciben órdenes, y en el medio los que tratan de hacer cumplir lo prometido. Llegando a mostrarse en muchos momentos la incoherencia de hacer un spot de seguridad laboral, explotando a empleados, ninguneando testimonios y fallando en dar seguridad.
Although it is a linear plot without many surprises. The focus of this title is social criticism and satire; as it shows in various ways the distance between those who command and those who receive orders, and in the middle those who try to enforce what is promised. In many moments it shows the incoherence of making a job security spot, exploiting employees, ignoring testimonies and failing to provide security.
Por otro lado, permite ver contrastes entre la ciudad de décadas pasadas y la actual. Desde el tráfico, los trabajos, las problemáticas, la forma de relacionarse los hombres y las mujeres, etc. Hay muchas ideas que se pueden sacar de esta producción.
On the other hand, it allows to see contrasts between the city of past decades and the current one. From the traffic, the jobs, the problems, the way men and women relate to each other, etc. There are many ideas that can be drawn from this production.
El tramo final, cuando se comienza a grabar el spot, es excelente, lo mejor de la película, mostrando la ignominia que sufre el testigo y viendo que poco importa lo que piensen los mandos medios o bajos.
The final section, when the filming of the spot begins, is excellent, the best of the film, showing the ignominy suffered by the witness and seeing that it matters little what the middle or lower management thinks.
Lo único que falla para mí, es que al no tener una gran trama detrás, hay varios momentos sin interés o difíciles de interpretar. En el lado musical, hay una gran variedad de canciones que acompañan el caos del tráfico.
The only thing that fails for me, is that not having a great plot behind it, there are several moments without interest or difficult to interpret. On the musical side, there is a great variety of songs to accompany the traffic chaos.
En general es un gran título y es recomendable, pero su parte más experimental pueda no ser del gusto para todos.
Overall it is a great title and is recommended, but its more experimental side may not be to everyone's taste.
