Adaptations of books to other media do not always give a result that I like. Sometimes the adaptation of a book (an adventure novel, in this case), whether it is adapted into a musical, a play, a movie or a TV series; well, sometimes it happens that many 'creative liberties' are taken in the adaptation process and the result is that they deviate a lot from what the original work was, to the point that more than an adaptation, it should have a subtitle that says 'inspired partially in the book…'

En ocasiones la adaptación de un libro (de una novela de aventura, en este caso), ya sea que se adapte a un musical, a una obra de teatro, a una película o a una serie de TV; bueno, en ocasiones sucede que se toman muchas ‘libertades creativas’ en el proceso de adaptación y da como resultado que se desvían mucho de lo que era la obra original, al grado que más que una adaptación, debería tener un subtítulo que dijera ‘inspirado parcialmente en el libro…’
En fin, que me estoy quejando de entrada por un tema que ni he aclarado bien, disculpa eso, voy a tratar de explicarme mejor.

This post should be about my daily log, but in reality I spent this Sunday with a tremendous calm, I like to lead a calm #life, but today I really took that to a slightly extreme point. If it were about something interesting, it would be about the notice from a friend who makes translations of youth fantasy novels, generally of Asian origin and available for free on the website of different publishing houses. The notice in question was about the topic that a novel that he had been translating until recently, they had made an animated adaptation for TV. I was used to calling all Asian animation with the Japanese term 'Anime', but my friend clarified that it was a Chinese cartoon work, and that the correct term was 'Donghua'.

Esta publicación debería ser sobre mi registro diario, pero en realidad este día domingo lo he pasado con una calma tremenda, me gusta llevar una #vida calmada, pero de verdad que hoy llevé eso a un punto un poco extremo. Si se tratara de alguna cosa interesante, sería sobre el aviso de un amigo que hace traducciones de novelas de fantasía juvenil, generalmente de origen asiático y disponibles gratuitamente en la web de distintas casas editoriales, el aviso en cuestión era sobre el tema de que una novela que él había estado traduciendo hasta hace poco, le habían hecho una adaptación animada para TV. Yo estaba acostumbrado a llamar a toda la animación asiática con el término japonés de ‘Anime’, pero el amigo me aclaraba que era un trabajo de dibujo animado chino, y que el término correcto era ‘Donghua’.

The point is that I dedicated myself to watching some of the episodes of the donghua series, and I compared them in my mind with the translation that my friend had done... seriously, I was surprised at how divergent the work was, it's as if it were watching a series inspired by another novel different from the webnovel I remember my friend translated.
That brought back some unpleasant memories of similar things, of times when some company took the production rights to a television adaptation or film adaptation of some other work, and created a horrible thing that made you think they had a very bad idea.

El punto es que me dediqué a ver algunos de los episodios de la serie de donghua, y las comparaba en mi mente con la traducción que mi amigo había hecho… en serio, me sorprendí de lo divergente que resultaba la obra, es como si estuviera viendo una serie inspirada en otra novela distinta a la que yo recuerdo que mi amigo tradujo.
Eso me trajo algunas memorias desagradables de cosas similares, de momentos en los que alguna empresa tomó los derechos de producción de una adaptación televisiva o adaptación cinematográfica de alguna otra obra, y creó una cosa espantosa que hacía que uno les agarrara muy mala idea.

I don't know if these people who do these things do it without giving value to the original fans or if they have something wrong in their head and feel that they have to ruin the original work, as if they were trolls. I'm not clear on the matter, and deep down I guess it's not that important, it's just that I wanted to share my thoughts on the subject. No sé si esta gente que hace estas cosas lo hace sin darle valor a los fanáticos originales o es que tienen alguna cosa mal en su cabeza y sienten que deben fastidiar la obra original, como si fueran unos troles. No tengo claro el asunto, y en el fondo supongo que no es tan impórtate, es solo que quería compartir mis pensamientos sobre el tema. En fin, mejor me despido, el registro de hoy si que me ha quedado raro, pero hay días así. Ya mañana será otro día, te deseo que tú estés bien y que nos podamos volver a leer.
