Great video! All valid points! Just to clarify, I have a LOT of Rebellion and spent thousands on it... They are being rented out in account "Psilence4" right now since I'm not playing modern ATM ;). I'm against the $4 packs because even though I DID spend those thousands into REB, I got nowhere. Literally had commons at under 60BCX having spent 2k+ and had to buy a LOT of singles on top of that to finish my legendary cards. When you spend that much and still can't get close to Max, it's hard to justify doing so again. The rewards I've received based on how much I spent are very out of line. I can't justify doing that again. $2 packs I'd feel like I'd have a chance to get somewhere, $4 I got nowhere even having spent thousands. That being said: $2 packs is the way to go IMHO. This is the problem because you feel like the thousands you spend got you "nowhere" which is false. You own cards today that have probably retained good value and are great rental income for you. They don't play well because half your collection is maxed out cheap.
Full disclosure: The value of my REB = $3650 and my daily rental income is around 1350 DEC. Yes, I own Tofu and Venka etc and they are included in that calculation. I spent around $3500ish on cards / packs. The 1350 DEC is around $1 a day in rental income. It will take me almost 10 years to earn back the $3500 if I continue to rent them out. (That's not including the fact that 1.5 years from now they will rotate and become less valuable and rent for less.) Just my numbers for full transparency. :)
The most important part about this whole statement is that you have not lost money on your investment in the last YEAR!!!! When has #splinterlands done this ever since the chaos of Chaos Legion. Huge win in my mind which is why I don't want to change it.
But I had to put in $3500... And I'm not close to a max deck. That's a crazy amount for a TCG and it's unreasonable to expect people to drop that kinda money to play. I just want to see more people in SPL :) Nothing is saying lower priced packs won't retain value, Untamed did!
Re: Magic Packs - I just skipped the commons because they don't have a lot of value, not because they aren't used in decks ;). Most magic decks are actually primarily commons and uncommons with supporting rares and mythic cards. The cost of a deck that you can use for three years is under $500 and that's for the most competitive deck available in the meta right now.
I also agree with you that we don't need "starter packs". We should properly price the core set which would eliminate the need for them. Their whole purpose is just to provide a "cheaper alternative"... Why not make core set more accessible instead?
Also to be clear if you spend $500 dollars on that decks today there is no guarantee you can play that for 3 years because these standard decks are combinations of all legal sets which means that pieces of the decks are falling out of rotation every year more than not.
This is also true of splinterlands decks. They rotate every 1 1/2 years... or is it annually? I can't even tell anymore as I'm not sure if they still plan to do mini sets and keep rotation at 18 months or not do them and rotate annually. I would prefer a new set annually and to skip mini sets, personally. Give us new reward cards that rotate with each new set too so that they are only in print for a year! :)

He did not create all those tokens, i.e. the HELIOS was donated to his pool by me long ago before he showed his true colors. Maybe he minted some, i dunno, but if you ask me he probably purchased them and added them to the rewards contract.

True. That is if you mean getting community funding for onboarding an unusually high number of bot accounts. Also, paying for affiliate/referral reward is not a good thing. It encouraged some to exploit a system for a fast buck. More than one reason for the token to be down.

Hahaha, you're looking at it in a general way. All those stats are influenced by my old role as a curator. Now as a content creator, it's different, that's what I mean.
I want that answer to be given by time itself, I don't want to err on the side of saying something that may not be entirely correct. The good thing is that I like to be here more, I mean snaps, I like it more than making content.
I am starting to be more active on snap myself. Still in the exploration phase. A matter of finding the right balance in all the possible activities we can complete.
I try to relate to everyone, as long as what I say or its content catches my attention, that's what it's all about. I don't interact only with people who have good HP or high interaction rates. I do it just for their content.
Starting from scratch with no investment you can't just get there overnight, it'll takes a good portion of a decade, unless the price of HIVE drastically moves upward by a few hundred in magnitude. Seems like your growth is on par.
According to what you say, the amount of HP determines the value of a content creator? I have 7 years, I could have 20k HP but yes, I used it to survive, but it was not free, I worked it in many hours being a curator of various projects. That was my investment.
Technically, since we don't "self vote" ones HP shouldn't really determine the content's worth, but the more stake you have to upvote others makes it more likely you will be seen by more eyes, thus reinforcing a positive feedback loop and receiving more upvotes I think.
To me that sounds more like interest than positive feedback. The value of a content creator on Hive shouldn't be their HP, at least it shouldn't be measured by that alone. So how do we differ from the "influencers" of web 2?

I only post my own links so right now I use r/oldschoolcool and two others relevant to where I live. There are many subreddits so you will need to search around to find what works for you and what you want to submit. One of x-rain's posts has a list of link friendly subreddits.
Always read the rules of the subreddit to make sure they accept links or message the mods and ask. I had one that would not accept links from hive, ecency, leo, etc. Said it was spam . Lol

Great video! All valid points! Just to clarify, I have a LOT of Rebellion and spent thousands on it... They are being rented out in account "Psilence4" right now since I'm not playing modern ATM ;). I'm against the $4 packs because even though I DID spend those thousands into REB, I got nowhere. Literally had commons at under 60BCX having spent 2k+ and had to buy a LOT of singles on top of that to finish my legendary cards. When you spend that much and still can't get close to Max, it's hard to justify doing so again. The rewards I've received based on how much I spent are very out of line. I can't justify doing that again. $2 packs I'd feel like I'd have a chance to get somewhere, $4 I got nowhere even having spent thousands. That being said: $2 packs is the way to go IMHO. Thanks again for the video!
This is the problem because you feel like the thousands you spend got you "nowhere" which is false. You own cards today that have probably retained good value and are great rental income for you. They don't play well because half your collection is maxed out cheap.
Full disclosure: The value of my REB = $3650 and my daily rental income is around 1350 DEC. Yes, I own Tofu and Venka etc and they are included in that calculation. I spent around $3500ish on cards / packs. The 1350 DEC is around $1 a day in rental income. It will take me almost 10 years to earn back the $3500 if I continue to rent them out. (That's not including the fact that 1.5 years from now they will rotate and become less valuable and rent for less.) Just my numbers for full transparency. :)
The most important part about this whole statement is that you have not lost money on your investment in the last YEAR!!!! When has #splinterlands done this ever since the chaos of Chaos Legion. Huge win in my mind which is why I don't want to change it.
But I had to put in $3500... And I'm not close to a max deck. That's a crazy amount for a TCG and it's unreasonable to expect people to drop that kinda money to play. I just want to see more people in SPL :) Nothing is saying lower priced packs won't retain value, Untamed did!
Re: Magic Packs - I just skipped the commons because they don't have a lot of value, not because they aren't used in decks ;). Most magic decks are actually primarily commons and uncommons with supporting rares and mythic cards. The cost of a deck that you can use for three years is under $500 and that's for the most competitive deck available in the meta right now.
I also agree with you that we don't need "starter packs". We should properly price the core set which would eliminate the need for them. Their whole purpose is just to provide a "cheaper alternative"... Why not make core set more accessible instead?

To say that the most magic decks are primarily common and uncommon is misleading seeing how the top architypes are over 50% rares and epics.
Also to be clear if you spend $500 dollars on that decks today there is no guarantee you can play that for 3 years because these standard decks are combinations of all legal sets which means that pieces of the decks are falling out of rotation every year more than not.
This is also true of splinterlands decks. They rotate every 1 1/2 years... or is it annually? I can't even tell anymore as I'm not sure if they still plan to do mini sets and keep rotation at 18 months or not do them and rotate annually. I would prefer a new set annually and to skip mini sets, personally. Give us new reward cards that rotate with each new set too so that they are only in print for a year! :)

He did not create all those tokens, i.e. the HELIOS was donated to his pool by me long ago before he showed his true colors. Maybe he minted some, i dunno, but if you ask me he probably purchased them and added them to the rewards contract.
I didn´t check all, but most of these food tokens (e.g. OLIVE, SHRIMP) were minted by him. Yes, as "rewards" but there is nobody buying those tokens, so what kind of reward is this?

Starting from scratch with no investment you can't just get there overnight, it'll takes a good portion of a decade, unless the price of HIVE drastically moves upward by a few hundred in magnitude. Seems like your growth is on par.
According to what you say, the amount of HP determines the value of a content creator? I have 7 years, I could have 20k HP but yes, I used it to survive, but it was not free, I worked it in many hours being a curator of various projects. That was my investment.
Technically, since we don't "self vote" ones HP shouldn't really determine the content's worth, but the more stake you have to upvote others makes it more likely you will be seen by more eyes, thus reinforcing a positive feedback loop and receiving more upvotes I think.
To me that sounds more like interest than positive feedback. The value of a content creator on Hive shouldn't be their HP, at least it shouldn't be measured by that alone. So how do we differ from the "influencers" of web 2?

I only post my own links so right now I use r/oldschoolcool and two others relevant to where I live. There are many subreddits so you will need to search around to find what works for you and what you want to submit. One of x-rain's posts has a list of link friendly subreddits.
Always read the rules of the subreddit to make sure they accept links or message the mods and ask. I had one that would not accept links from hive, ecency, leo, etc. Said it was spam . Lol

I do think I have a good understanding of how difficult things are to code and try to keep my requests within reason. Like one of my recent requests was for a tool find recent comments within a given community. I researched and learned about tag inheritance and mandatory tagging.

Yeah, I understand what a hackathon is, but there are ways to help buidl even if you're not a developer. I do know some coding, but not enough to consdider myself a developer. I've worked hand in hand with devs in the past though and the results were great.

It's an Nft game that I started, I saw a lot of people talking about it and making a lot of money, so I decided to start it. It's for mobile, IOS and for android you have to download the APK, its token is EBC. In this case, you place the heroes and they fight on their own.
Thus:
like an idle thing? you just have to own then let them work for themselves?
It's not 100% idle, for example raising the level of your heroes, clicking to battle, going into 1v1 duels, all of this needs to be done manually, you end up investing some time to do some things, but it doesn't have to be anything hardcore
