I know I know, I don't show up here since my last post 😅 but everything has an explanation and I'll give them haha. It turns out that for a while now I've been busy and I got into my university studies since I'm in the last semesters of my career, which takes me a lot of time 😓 and for nobody is a secret that the posts of this style at least in my case I like to dedicate time to think about it and write it, sharing something of quality, requiring effort and time, but well, it's never too late to continue and also I come with a lot of energy and more topics to bring you 🥳. In this opportunity, I want to continue with the pink tide that has immersed everyone since its release, I mean the Barbie movie, being a box office success, it has caused a worldwide pink phenomenon in all people and has others brings with it a very interesting message of which I want to talk to you. This message is very long, and I'm going to take many aspects and events from the movies, so if you haven't seen them yet I warn you that this post has spoiler!

The Barbie movie gave us to understand that Barbie is not just a doll and that the idea was not only to be a product to sell to girls, but a clear message to the submerged society where society wanted only women as housewives, teaching them from an early age to play moms with their dolls, and this is shown when the first original Barbie that came to market at its launch is present, this Barbie is a representation of "be what you want to be" a clear message to the girls that out there a million possibilities beyond being a mom or a caregiver. Then they show us the result of this action, Barbie is everything that men used to be having their own world of Barbieland, president, firefighter, congresswoman, writer, swimmer, doctor, all this seen from the eyes of the only Barbie who does not say her profession "the stereotypical Barbie" and to which all focus their attention, as if from her all the others were born.

On the other hand we have the Kens, Barbie house that here we are presented has her Ken, but not as a partner but as a companion of Barbie in everything she does, and is that in a world where Barbie is everything who or what is Ken? The Kens only admire their Barbies and fight for her in their abilities, but they do nothing else, they just stay waiting for a little attention from them. It is interesting that this conflict of seeking Barbie's admiration leads the Kens to fight among themselves, without questioning that they could do something else knowing already the result that the Barbie's are well alone without them, but still they are there because for this they were created or at least that is what they believe by being Kens, something very similar when we suggest ourselves to roles, behaviors, duties even ways of thinking just because of our color, ethnicity, country even generated or sex, that we must be like that and there is no other way.

However something unexpected happens for a doll, Barbie says something like "They have never thought about dying" this makes everyone confused and worried about her, how is it possible that Barbie, the original one that was created to be everything is thinking about death? And this is because death is synonymous of an end, that everything has an end, just as Barbie was created to start something but never to have an end, and this was just what had been opened, very similar to human beings, we are born, we grow and reproduce but as the philosopher Heidegger said we behave as if we did not know that we will die and that is why talking about death causes this same reaction in people even knowing that it is something natural. And this would not stay here but consequently Barbie would begin to experience this meaning of "end" in her world, where everything was perfect begins to have imperfections as she falls asleep, that the shower starts to come out cold, the milk for breakfast expires, she can no longer float down from her house and the simplest but it was poetic when it happened, Barbie's feet that are always arched and perfect without wearing heels, flattens out and touches the ground, a symbolic literal message of "put your feet on the ground" let's remember that the feet in itself our vehicle with this world but if we are not connected with reality they can take us through very fictional or unreal situation.

Like any reality shock this causes commotion in Barbie and motivates her to seek a solution, this reminds me a lot of the existential crises of adolescence when we do not know what is happening but we must do something, many choose to assume what is happening moving forward and others long for things to return to do as before, and the latter is the decision that Barbie takes without knowing what awaits her. She decides to go to the real world, which in the movie Barbieland is a projection of how the real world perceives Barbie. However, when she arrives to the real world Barbie believes that here things are like in her world but she finds the opposite, here people do not respect the way she dresses, they have to pay for the things they use, she does not have the privileges she has in her world and suffers from abuse and morbidities exercised by men, which she does not understand and lets them know that she does not have female genitals, implying that these acts are only a reflection of the sexual vision and possession that has the macho society that leads them to exercise these abuses. But this would not be her biggest blow, her worst blow was when talking to a group of girls who destroyed her with their words telling her that because of her people expect women to have a perfect and ideal body, causing Barbie for the first time to cry for believing that she really did not help women or the world.

Here we have two things, the first is a historical fact that really happened, just as Barbie reached its popularity at its launch then in time a social problem was generated because it began to have as a standard of beauty for women, which should help to excel, sinking other women in their complexes, but was it really Barbie that generated this stereotype or was it the same society who began to compare women for their body? And the second is the first turning point of Barbie, she cries, what she had not felt before now she feels and experiences it, Barbie is becoming more and more human and yet she thinks she is imperfect for doing this kind of things. However in this adventure Barbie is not the only one who has a reality shock, Ken being in the real world receives what he did not have in his world, attention, recognition for being a person, although he is aware that being a man does not give him a position in society to exercise roles as a professional, at least the attention and recognition make him feel better, make him feel someone, and he wants more. Here Ken gives us to understand that if a person is devalued to such a point just for being who he is or for his gender, it can take him that the slightest touch of affection can make him change in such a radical way or thinking, Ken is the living example of the damage that the same society does to people comparing, separating and prioritizing people just for their gender, without taking into account the human value they have.

The film already at its final point takes a turn where the Kens are the owners of Barbielands and seek to change it to Kenlands and the Barbies go on to serve the Kens, but their own ego, rivalry and sense for what they are still reasons that they are more Barbies prevents them from realizing a future developer for that world. Here we can take several things, on the one hand that a misconception promulgated by a society convinced by a social need can be very strong as a mind control to the masses, the second is that here the Barbies not only became submissive to the Kens for being under a "mind control of the patriarchy" but because they themselves express that it feels better not to have so many burdens and responsibility, They also say that it feels better not to have so many burdens and responsibilities, to be able to enjoy their lives, giving us to understand that the fact of wanting to be someone with so many professions just to prove something to society is exhausting, that just being you should be enough without having to prove anything, and thirdly, balance, a world where one gender predominates over another, without respect, equity and devalued is a world that is doomed to failure, the Kens could not see beyond because they needed the Barbies and the Barbies were exhausted of fulfilling so many roles by a social demand, and this seems to me a clear message to the social paradigms of today that on the one hand seek to defend a macho cause and on the other hand a radical feminism where the man is bad for being a man, when in reality they are to be something or not to be, does not depend on what we have below or who we are, giving meaning to the phrase with which the film ends where "Ken is only Ken and Barbie is only Barbie".

And well my dear readers, truly this is a movie where I could go on and on bringing out more reflections since it is involved in a social critical paradigm, however this is the most outstanding that I could conclude for me, but I would like to know now what do you think, do you think Barbie has such a reflective message? Lo sé lo sé, no me aparezco por aquí desde mi último post 😅 pero todo tiene una explicación y las daré jaja. Resulta que de un tiempo para acá me ocupe y me metí de rellene en mis estudios universitarios ya que estoy en los últimos semestres de la carrera, lo que me quita mucho tiempo 😓 y para nadie es un secreto que los post de este estilo al menos en mi caso me gusta dedicarles tiempo para pensarlo y escribirlo, compartiendoles algo de calidad, requiriendo esfuerzo y tiempo, pero bueno, nunca es tarde para continuar y además vengo con muchas energías y más temas para traerles 🥳. En esta oportunidad, quiero continuar con la marea rosa que ha sumergido a todo el mundo desde su estreno, me refiero a la película de Barbie, siendo un éxito en taquilla, ha causada un fenómeno mundial rosa en todas las personas y ha demás trae consigo un mensaje muy interesante del cual quiero hablarles. Este mensaje es muy largo, y voy a tomar muchos aspectos y sucesos de las películas, por lo cual si aún no los has visto te aviso que este post tiene ¡spoiler!

La película de Barbie nos dio a entender que Barbie no es solo una muñeca y que la idea no era solo que fuese un producto para venderles a la niñas, sino un mensaje claro a la sociedad sumergida sociedad donde quería solo a la mujeres como amas de casa, enseñándoles desde pequeñas a jugar a hacer mamás con sus muñecas, y esto se muestra cuando hace presencia la primera Barbie original que salió al mercado en su lanzamiento, esta Barbie es una representación de “se lo que quieras ser” un mensaje claro a las niñas de que allá afuera un millón de posibilidades más allá de ser mamá o una cuidadora. Acto seguido nos muestran el resultado de esta acción, Barbie es todo lo que los hombres antes eran teniendo su propio mundo de Barbieland, presidente, bombera, diputada, escritora, nadadora, doctora, todo esto visto desde los ojos de la única Barbie quien no se dice su profesión “la Barbie estereotipica” y a las que todos centran su atención, como si de ella naciera todas las demás.

Por otro lado tenemos a los Kens, casa Barbie que aquí se nos presenta tiene a su Ken, pero no como pareja sino como un acompañante de Barbie en todo lo que hace, y es que en un mundo donde Barbie lo es todo quien o que es Ken? Los Kens solo admiran a sus Barbies y se pelean por ella en sus habilidades, pero no hacen nada más, solo se quedan esperando un poco de la atención de ellas. Es interesante que esté conflicto de buscar la admiración de Barbie lleve a los Kens a pelearse entre ellos, sin cuestionarse que podrían hacer otra cosa sabiendo ya el resultado de que las Barbie están bien solas sin ellas, pero igual ellos están allí porque para esto fueron creados o al menos eso es lo que ellos creen por se Kens, algo muy similar cuando nos sugestionamos a roles, conductas, deberes incluso maneras de pensar solo por nuestro color, etnia, país incluso generó o sexo, que debemos ser así y no hay otra forma.

Sin embargo ocurre algo inesperado para una muñeca, Barbie dice algo como “Nunca han pensado en morirse” esto hace que todo mundo se confunda y se preocupe por ella, como es posible que Barbie, la original la que se creo para ser todo esté pensando en la muerte? Y esto es porque la muerte es sinónimo de un fin, de que todo tiene un final, así como Barbie se planteó para dar inicio algo pero nunca para tener un fin, y esto era justo lo que se había abierto, muy similar a los seres humanos, nacemos, crecemos y nos reproducimos pero como decía el filoso Heidegger nos comportamos como si no supieramos que vamos a morir y es por ello que hablar de la muerte causa está misma reacción en las personas aún sabiendo que es algo natural. Y esto no quedaría aquí sino que de manera consecuente Barbie comenzaría a experimentar este significado de “final” en su mundo, donde todo era perfecto comienza a tener imperfecciones como se queda dormida, que la ducha empieza a salir fría, la leche del desayuno caduca, ya no puede flotar para bajar de su casa y lo más sencillo pero que fue poético cuando sucedió, los pies de Barbie que siempre están arqueados y perfectos sin usar tacones, se aplana y tocan el suelo, un simbólico mensaje literal de “poner los pies sobre la tierra” recordemos que los pies en si su nuestro vehículo con este mundo pero si no estamos conectados con la realidad pueden llevarnos por situación muy ficticias o irreales

Cómo cualquier choque de realidad esto causa conmoción en Barbie y la motiva a buscar una solución, esto me recuerda mucho a las crisis existenciales de la adolescencia cuando no sabemos que está pasando pero debemos hacer algo, muchos optan por asumirlo que sucede siguiendo hacia adelante y otros anhelan que las cosas vuelvan a hacer como antes, y está última es la decisión que toma Barbie sin saber lo que le espera. Ella decide ir al mundo real, que en la película Barbieland es una proyección de como el mundo real percibe a Barbie. Sin embargo al llegar al mundo real Barbie cree que aquí las cosas son como en su mundo pero se consigue con lo opuesto, aquí las personas no respetan la forma en como se visten, tienen que pagar por las cosas que usan, no tiene los privilegios que tiene en su mundo y sufre de abusos y morbosidades ejercidas por hombres, lo que ella no entiende y les hace saber que ella no cuenta con genitales femeninos, dando a entender que estos actos solo son un reflejo de la visión sexual y de posesión que tiene la sociedad machista que los lleva a ejercer estos abusos. Pero esto no sería su mayor golpe, su peor golpe fue al hablar con un grupo de niñas que la destrozaron con sus palabras diciéndole que por culpa de ella la gente espera que las mujeres tengan un cuerpo perfecto e ideal, causando que Barbie por primera vez llora por creer que realmente no ayudaba a las mujeres ni al mundo.

Aquí tenemos dos cosas, lo primero es un hecho histórico que realmente paso, así como Barbie alcanzo su popularidad en su lanzamiento después en el tiempo se genere un problema social porque se empezó a tener como una estándar de belleza para las mujeres, lo que debía de ayudar a sobresalir, hundía a otras a mujeres en sus complejos, pero, realmente fue Barbie la que generó este estereotipo o fue la misma sociedad quien empezó a comparar a las mujeres por su cuerpo? Y lo segundo es el primer punto de inflexión de Barbie, llora, lo que antes no había sentido ahora lo siente y lo experimenta, Barbie cada vez es más humana y pero se cree imperfecta por hacer este tipo de cosas. Sin embargo en esta aventura Barbie no es la única quien tiene un choque de realidad, Ken al estar en el mundo real recibe lo que en su mundo no tenía, atención, reconocimiento por ser una persona, aunque es consciente de que por ser hombre no le da un puesto en la sociedad para ejercer roles como profesional, al menos la atención y el reconocimiento lo hacen sentir mejor, lo hacen sentir alguien, y desea más. Aquí Ken nos da entender que si una persona es desvalorizada al tal punto solo por ser quien es o por su género, lo puede llevar que al mínimo tacto de afecto lo puedo hacer cambiar de una manera tan radical o de pensamiento, Ken es el vivo ejemplo del daño que la misma sociedad le hace a las personas comparando, separando y priorizando a las personas nada más por su género, sin tener en cuenta el valor humano que tiene.

La película ya en su punto final da un giro donde los Kens son los dueños de Barbielands y buscan cambiarlo a Kenlands y las Barbies pasan a servir a los Kens, pero su propio ego, rivalidad y sentido por lo que aún están motivos que son más Barbies les impide concretar un futuro desarrollador para ese mundo. Aquí podemos tomar varias cosas, por un lado que una idea errónea promulgada por una sociedad convencida ante una necesidad social puede ser muy fuerte como un control mental ante las masas, lo segundo es que aquí las Barbies no solo se volvieron sumisas a losn Kens por estar bajo un “control mental del patriarcado” sino porque ella mismas expresan que se siente mejor no tener tantas cargas y responsabilidad, pudiendo disfrutar sus vidas, dándonos a entender que el hecho de querer ser alguien con tantas profesiones solo por demostrarle a la sociedad algo es agotador, con que solo ser tu debería de bastar sin tener que demostrar nada y en tercer lugar, el equilibrio, un mundo donde un género predomine sobre otro, sin respeto, equidad y desvalorizado es un mundo que está condenado al fracaso, los Kens no podían ver más allá porque necesitaban a las Barbies y las Barbies estaban agotadas de cumplir tantos roles por una demanda social, y esto me parece un claro mensaje a los paradigmas sociales de hoy en día que por un lado buscan defender una causa machista y por otro lado un radical feminismo donde el hombre es malo por ser hombre, cuando en realidad son ser algo o no ser, no depende de que tengamos abajo o que seamos, dándole sentido a la frase con que termina la película donde “Ken solo es Ken y Barbie solo es Barbie”

Y bueno mis queridos lectores, de verdad está una película donde podría seguir y seguir sacando más reflexiones ya que está envuelta en un paradigma critica social, sin embargo esto es lo más resaltante que pude concluir para mí, pero me gustaría saber ahora que piensas tú, crees que Barbie tiene un mensaje así de reflexivo?
