Movie review: Halloween (2018)
Hey everyone, another Saturday evening has passed, movie night in our family, last week we stopped watching the movie after fifteen minutes because we all didn't liked it, it was Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the action was over exaggerated and over the top, not for out liking so we switched to watching our work week series Grey's Anatomy, another chance this week!
On movie night, we (two young teenage girls and my wife) usually pick three movies, anyone can pick them, we watch the trailers together and then vote, very democratic, right!? On a tie, we usually just pick one and watch the other a week later.
The other two movies are saved to be in the list later.
The options for this week were:
Flightplan
Phone Booth
Halloween (2018)
Halloween received two votes, both other contestants received 1 vote, so, with Halloween in a few days it was perfect timing as well. For our youngest daughter (11 y/o) this would be her first horror movie, and to make it extra fun, we turned off all the lights on her request and had two mattresses on the floor for them to watch the movie on, we old people rather just sit on the couch! 😅
Halloween (2018)
Genre: Horror
Play time: 106 minutes
Director: David Gordon Green
Cast: Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak and Judy Greer
Release date: November 1 2018
Although there has been a number of Halloween movies prior to this one, Halloween (1978) · Halloween II (1981) · Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) · Halloween: Resurrection (2002) we never watched any of them, we're not big horror fans but in this movie there wasn't any reference to the other movies so for us it was a good thing, for the fans of the sequel it's a bit strange because the story line contradict here and there.
The story is about a babysitter murderer, Michael Myers, who has been caught 40 years ago, Laurie Strode survived his attack and all her life she prepares to fight him again, losing her family in the process. Michael Myers escapes during a prisoner transport and starts killing again, not the most original story so I didn't had any expectations.
It's an entertaining movie to fill a movie night with, it wasn't spectacular and in my opinion isn't worth the 'horror' genre but more like a thriller. Our youngest daughter and also my wife got scared a few times so they did a good job in general, it was a fun one to watch!
The two contestants will remain in the list for next week, so we have to find one new movie for next week!
It doesn't seem so disappointing either, maybe in its time it was a good option.
