I saw this film again after several years, Calendar Girls is a film that is not easily forgotten and has always brought a lot of smiles to my face. This film is based on a true story which makes it even more beautiful, a true hymn to happiness, to life, to knowing how to live every age of life, appreciating its peculiarities. The plot starts from a small village in Yorkshire where a women's association deals with recreational activities, gardening, sewing, cooking... But some of them suffer a bit from boredom, and here the focus is on the two main protagonists, Chris and Annie. Inseparable friends for better or for worse, evil that arrives in the form of a terrible tumor that attacks Annie's husband. Chris often visits him in the hospital and here's another key point, she hates the sofa in the waiting room which is uncomfortable and ugly and starts to think that they should do something to change it, perhaps donate the proceeds of the annual calendar to the hospital of the association, a calendar which usually does not sell many copies and which has churches or cabbages or potatoes as its subjects.

So the daring Chris comes up with a brilliant, rebellious idea, also inspired by the phrases of Annie's husband who wrote a poem praising in metaphors the unique beauty of a woman during her more mature age, to create something that precisely enhances her lpro age. So between the joke and the prank and the initial dismay of her peers, this bold idea begins to insinuate itself, no more sewing and decoupage, no more boring landscapes and little churches, the calendar needs a stronger theme, like them naked! Once the initial dismay has passed, everyone tries their hand at the calendar and soon all the months are taken, not without doubts, fears, shame and prejudices. A scandal is created as always happens when someone speaks or even worse shows something regarding sexuality that goes beyond the norm, and thinking of elderly mothers, a group of respectable ladies who undress just covering their most intimate parts is definitely out of the norm. And in this lies the courage of these women, both in the film and in real life, in challenging the stereotype that wants them to be modest, that after a certain age they should not have sexual instincts or even worse, they should be ashamed of their nakedness, their stretch marks, rolls of fat, wrinkles and a less toned body. And these women pose with courage and fun, covered only by small objects and when this calendar comes out it will have all the success it deserves. As always I liked the film and I really thought about how strong these women had been both for the counter-current and also nice idea and for having challenged many prejudices regarding both sexuality in mature age and showing a less than perfect body. I saw the photos of the original calendar on the internet and I just thought, very good, beautiful and very nice. A film worth seeing and a calendar worth buying!

Vi esta película nuevamente después de varios años, Calendar Girls es una película que no se olvida fácilmente y siempre me ha sacado muchas sonrisas. Esta película está basada en una historia real que la hace aún más bella, un verdadero canto a la felicidad, a la vida, a saber vivir cada época de la vida, apreciando sus peculiaridades. La trama parte de un pequeño pueblo de Yorkshire donde una asociación de mujeres se ocupa de actividades recreativas, jardinería, costura, cocina... Pero algunos sufren un poco de aburrimiento, y aquí la atención se centra en los dos protagonistas principales, Chris y Annie. Amigos inseparables para bien o para mal, mal que llega en forma de un terrible tumor que ataca al marido de Annie. Chris lo visita a menudo en el hospital y aquí hay otro punto clave, ella odia el sofá de la sala de espera que es incómodo y feo y empieza a pensar que deberían hacer algo para cambiarlo, tal vez donar las ganancias del calendario anual al hospital. de la asociación, un calendario que no suele vender muchos ejemplares y que tiene como temas iglesias, coles o patatas.

Una vez pasado el desconcierto inicial, todo el mundo prueba suerte con el calendario y pronto se llevan todos los meses, no sin dudas, miedos, vergüenzas y prejuicios. Se arma un escándalo como siempre ocurre cuando alguien habla o peor aún muestra algo sobre sexualidad que se sale de lo normal, y pensando en madres ancianas, un grupo de señoras respetables que se desnudan apenas cubriendo sus partes más íntimas definitivamente está fuera de lo normal. Y en esto radica la valentía de estas mujeres, tanto en la película como en la vida real, al desafiar el estereotipo que las quiere modestas, que a partir de cierta edad no deben tener instintos sexuales o peor aún, deberían avergonzarse de ellas. su desnudez, sus estrías, rollitos de grasa, arrugas y un cuerpo menos tonificado. Y estas mujeres posan con valentía y diversión, cubiertas sólo por pequeños objetos y cuando salga este calendario tendrá todo el éxito que se merece. Como siempre me gustó la película y realmente pensé en lo fuertes que habían sido estas mujeres tanto por la idea contracorriente y también linda como por haber desafiado muchos prejuicios tanto respecto a la sexualidad en la edad madura como a mostrar un cuerpo menos que perfecto. Vi las fotos del calendario original en internet y pensé, muy bueno, hermoso y muy lindo. ¡Una película que vale la pena ver y un calendario que vale la pena comprar!
