Hello movie lovers. Today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite animated films that Disney has released, among so many that it has in its extensive repertoire. This feature film moves away from all the fantasy, fairy and princess stories that between the 30s and 80s have brought out this huge franchise and goes deeper into a somewhat deep story and with a quality that surpasses its predecessors, earning different nominations, awards and accolades from around the world. Not to mention that it is one of those animated films that I watched since I was a child and that I still remember to this day with much longing. Produced by the Walt Disney Feature Animation studio, this film is based on the novel "Tarzan of the Apes" (1912) by Edward Rice Burroughs. The film also features a great voice cast including Tony Goldwyn, Minnie Driver, Glen Close, Rosie O'Donnell, Brian Blessed and many more.

The film was a huge success at the box office, becoming one of the highest grossing animated films in Disney Animation's vast repertoire, with mostly positive reviews and praise for the incredible animation and soundtrack, which features the collaboration of the great musician, singer and composer, Phill Colins, along with Mark Mancina. This is one of those few Disney animated films that I highly recommend watching, which shows how great and nostalgic that era was, cinematically speaking. Hola amantes del cine. El día de hoy quiero hablarles de una de mis películas animadas favoritas que Disney ha sacado, de entre tantas que tiene en su extenso repertorio. Este largometraje se aleja de toda la fantasía, las historias de hadas y princesas que entre los 30s y los 80s han sacado esta enorme franquicia y se adentra más a una historia un tanto profunda y con una calidad que supera a sus antecesoras, siendo acreedora de diferentes nominaciones, premios y elogios de todo el mundo. Esto sin contar que es de esas películas animadas que veía desde pequeño y que aún recuerdo al día de hoy con mucho anhelo. Producida por el estudio Walt Disney Feature Animation, esta película está basada en la novela titulada “Tarzán de los monos” (1912) de Edgard Rice Burroughs. La película también cuenta con un gran elenco de voces conformado por Tony Goldwyn, Minnie Driver, Glen Close, Rosie O’Donnell, Brian Blessed y muchos más.

La película tuvo un excelente éxito en taquilla, convirtiéndose en una de las cintas animadas más taquilleras del gran repertorio que tiene Disney Animation, con elogios y críticas mayormente positivas por el increíble trabajo de animación y banda sonora, la cual cuenta con la colaboración del gran músico, cantante y compositor, Phill Colins, junto con Mark Mancina. Esta es una de esas pocas películas animadas de Disney que más recomiendo ver, el cual muestra lo grandiosa y nostálgica que fue esa época, cinematográficamente hablando. Plot

The film begins with a British family who end up shipwrecked on an unexplored island in Africa, after the boat they were on sinks in a fire. With the remains of the ship they managed to get, the couple made a house in a huge tree where they plan to take refuge from this unknown and dangerous place. On the other hand, a group of gorillas led by the great Kerchak cross the forest near where the house is located and his gorilla wife, Kala, hears the cry of a baby coming from the tree. Both are only just mourning the recent death of their gorilla son, who was attacked by a ferocious leopard. Delighted, Kala goes in search of the baby and climbs the tree house, where she finds the British couple killed by the same feline beast, while the baby is still alive, hidden in the rubble.

Kala the gorilla takes the baby, after freeing herself from the leopard that was near the tree, and decides to raise and care for it as if it were her own child. However, years later, our now baby boy named Tarzan realizes that he is different from his mother and the rest of the gorilla group in which he has been growing up. Not realizing that he is a human, he receives rejection from the other animals and fellow gorillas, including the great gorilla leader Kerchak, except Kala his mother, who assures him that they are the same, on the inside. With these words, he decides to become the best gorilla of all, adapting and learning from the other animals until he becomes a great ape man. Now grown up, Tarzan manages to defeat the same leopard that killed his parents, while protecting his herd and his gorilla mother. But, from afar, he hears a loud sound, as if it were a gunshot, which attracts Tarzan's attention and he goes to the place where it came from and finds several humans, just like him.

Trama

La película empieza con una familia de británicos que terminan naufragando en una isla inexplorada de África, luego de que el barco en donde andaban se hundiera por un incendio. Con los restos del barco que consiguieron, la pareja hizo una casa en un enorme árbol donde piensan refugiarse de este desconocido y peligroso lugar. Por otro lado, un grupo de gorilas liderado por el gran Kerchak cruzan el bosque cerca de donde se encuentra la casa y su mujer gorila, Kala, escucha el llanto de un bebé que proviene de dicho árbol. Ambos apenas están sufriendo el luto de la reciente muerte de su hijo gorila, quien fue atacado por un feroz leopardo. Ilusionada, Kala va en busca del bebé y sube a la casa del árbol, donde se encuentra a la pareja de británicos asesinados por la misma bestia felina, en cambio, el bebé sigue con vida, escondido entre los escombros.

This film mixes genres such as comedy, adventure, action and drama, making it a film for all audiences, for the whole family.

De la mejor época de Disney podemos encontrarnos con esta cinta, la cual dio un cierre de toda una era y un inicio a otra era, era en la que las películas animadas tuvieron una de las revoluciones más increíbles que se han visto en el mundo del cine. Esta obra maestra animada con una mezcla de animación tradicional con animación hecha a computadora ha conseguido lo que muchos estudios animados buscaban en aquel entonces, con una banda sonora tan maravillosa que ha conseguido marcar a toda una generación, al igual que lo hizo esta cinta. Su historia es algo que no solo sirve para entretener a un niño, sino también para dejar una muy excelente lección a un adulto, tratando temas que van del bien y el mal, como también de qué es una familia, con sentimientos muy fuertes como el amor, el odio y la venganza. Esta película que mezcla géneros como la comedia, la aventura, la acción y el drama la hacen una cinta para todo el público, para toda la familia.

Let's talk about Tarzan, who from the beginning to the end of this movie we can learn about his beginnings and his story as the man who grew up as a monkey, a story that for everyone can be very heartfelt and with very valuable lessons. The development and evolution of this main character is fascinating to say the least, learning from everything around him, adapting and growing both physically and mentally. His curiosity and courage make him face the unknown, achieving things he has never seen before, a world beyond the one he was raised and grew up in. With an existential doubt of who or what he really is, Tarzan shows us a way to face the problems and changes one has in life. In this case, it is love that drives him to go further, getting to know more and more of that world to later adapt and become part of it. But what he knows and has learned since he was a child generates an internal war that makes him doubt whether to remain a monkey or become a human.

The other characters also have their own, we can say, being the adoptive mother, Kala the gorilla, who shows us a clear example of how a mother raises her son and teaches him principles and values that will serve him throughout his life. These teachings were what guided our protagonist to make the wisest decisions, despite the danger of joining both worlds. Kerchak, on the other hand, demonstrates that role of leader and father of which we can possibly identify and recognize easily. Jane is another character that we can highlight as the main source of our protagonist's interest and curiosity to know that world beyond where they are, with a feeling that grows as he learns and spends more time with her. Clayton is the antagonist of the film, who does an excellent job as a villain, standing out only for befriending the protagonist to then betray him at the end (I do not think this is a Spoiler for anyone at this date with how popular this movie is for the one reading this not to have seen it before).

Hablemos de Tarzán, quien desde el principio hasta el final de esta película podemos conocer sus inicios y su historia como el hombre que creció como un mono, una historia que para todos puede ser muy sentida y con lecciones muy valiosas. El desarrollo y la evolución de este personaje principal es fascinante cuanto poco, aprendiendo de todo lo que lo rodea, adaptándose y creciendo tanto física como mentalmente. Su curiosidad y valor lo hacen enfrentarse a lo desconocido, consiguiendo cosas que nunca antes ha visto, un mundo más allá del que se crió y creció. Con una duda existencial de quién o qué es realmente, Tarzán nos muestra una forma de enfrentarnos a los problemas y a los cambios que uno tiene en la vida. En este caso, es el amor lo que lo impulsa a ir más allá, conociendo más y más dicho mundo para posteriormente adaptarse y ser parte de él. Pero lo que conoce y ha aprendido desde pequeño le generan una guerra interna que lo hace dudar de seguir siendo un mono o convertirse en un humano.

Los demás personajes también tienen lo suyo, podemos decir, siendo la madre adoptiva, Kala la gorila, quien nos muestra un claro ejemplo de cómo una madre cría a su hijo y le enseña principios y valores que le servirán por toda su vida. Estas enseñanzas fueron lo que guió a nuestro protagonista a tomar las decisiones más sabias, a pesar del peligro que era unir ambos mundos. Kerchak, por otro lado, demuestra ese papel de líder y padre del cual posiblemente podamos identificar y reconocer fácilmente. Jane es otro personaje que podemos destacar como la fuente principal del interés y la curiosidad de nuestro protagonista por conocer ese mundo que está más allá de donde se encuentran, con un sentimiento que va creciendo al momento en el que va aprendiendo y más tiempo va pasando con ella. Clayton es el antagonista de la película, el cual realiza un excelente trabajo como villano, destacándose únicamente por hacerse amigo del protagonista para luego traicionarlo al final (no creo que esto sea un Spoiler para nadie a esta fecha con lo popular que es esta película para que el que lea esto no la haya visto antes).

But what is most fascinating is not only its animation, nor is it the story which has everything that is needed for anyone to watch and enjoy this incredible movie, but also the soundtrack it has, which with the help of Phill Colins has marked in the heart of everyone who has seen it, with songs that to this day we can hum and remember with great nostalgia and happiness, with deep lyrics and rhythms that are impossible to forget. This visual and auditory combination makes this film an unparalleled audiovisual experience. One of the best adaptations of the original novel that has been brought to the big screen and has touched more people and generations than any other. Undoubtedly this is one of those few jewels that Disney has to offer today.

Personally, I give it an excellent rating of 9.5/10 for the adventure, action, drama and comedy genre.

Una película que ha fascinado a todo el mundo ya sea por su increíble animación, el cual generó el elogio y el galardón de todo el mundo para con el estudio de animación de Disney, quien consiguió replicar dicho estilo de animación en posteriores proyectos que estaré trayendo y hablando en siguientes reseñas. Pero lo que más fascina no es solo su animación, tampoco es la historia la cual tiene todo lo que se necesita para que cualquiera pueda ver y disfrutar de esta increíble película, sino también la banda sonora que tiene, la cual con la ayuda de Phill Colins ha marcado en el corazón de todo el que la haya visto, con canciones que hasta la fecha podemos tararear y recordar con gran nostálgica y felicidad, con letras profundas y ritmos que son imposibles de olvidar. Esta combinación visual y auditiva hacen de esta cinta toda una experiencia audiovisual sin igual. De las mejores adaptaciones de la novela original que han llevado a la pantalla grande y que ha marcado a más gente y generaciones que cualquier otra. Sin duda alguna esta es una de esas pocas joyas que Disney tiene para ofrecer a la fecha de hoy.

Personalmente, le doy una excelente calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de aventura, acción, drama y comedia.
