Plot

The movie shows us the current team of intergalactic heroes formed by Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot. They are now famous, calling themselves the "Guardians of the Galaxy", after everything that happened in the previous movie. Peter and his team have been hired by Alesha, the leader of a race known in the galaxy as "The Sovereigns", who orders them to protect their valuable batteries by interdimensional monsters in exchange for Nebula, Gamora's sister, who has been captured by this race after finding her trying to steal some batteries. The team accomplishes their mission and delivers the dangerous robotic sister to her, but Rocket makes the mistake of secretly stealing a battery from them just before they leave, which causes them to be pursued by Sovereign ships shortly after they leave.

However, a strange space figure appears and destroys the ships, helping Peter's team and then taking them to a nearby planet. There he reveals his identity to them, introducing himself as Ego, Quill's father. He tells his team that he is a celestial being who fathered him long ago when he went to Earth in search of knowledge, falling in love with his mother, who later died of a strange tumor. He takes them to his "home" planet, which is actually a sphere created by space materials that Ego used. La película nos muestra al actual equipo de héroes intergalácticos conformado por Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Rocket y Groot. Estos ahora son famosos, llamándose los “Guardianes de la Galaxia”, luego de todo lo ocurrido en la película anterior. Peter y su equipo han sido contratados por Alesha, la líder de una raza conocida en la galaxia como “Los Soberanos”, quien les ordena que protejan sus valiosas baterías por monstruos interdimensionales a cambio de Nebula, la hermana de Gamora, quien ha sido capturada por esta raza luego de encontrarla intentando robar algunas baterías. El equipo cumple con su misión y le entregan a la peligrosa hermana robótica, pero Rocket comete el error de robarles una batería en secreto justo antes de irse, lo cual causa que sean perseguidos por naves soberanas, poco después de haberse ido.

Compared to the first film, I've seen this one less often, which is putting it mildly for how entertaining it is overall. Once again, you can enjoy the script, development and spectacular work in special effects, CGI and soundtrack that this sequel has, which I personally consider it a bit better than its predecessor. While it is true that there were some details in terms of the story or the villain that I didn't quite like, it doesn't mean that in general it doesn't have enough to offer an excellent show. The acting work of the cast, the colorful style it has and the perfect combination of comedy and drama, with an excellent portion of adventure, makes this movie a perfect story that any fan should know.

Thanks to the great James Gunn for directing this movie we can count on a very well done story with a romantic and emotional beginning that then evolves as the minutes go by. At the same time, secrets are revealed, such as the origin of Peter Quill, who is played by Chris Pratt, who does as always an excellent job in showing us a recognized adventurer who has lived much of his life in space and has never had anyone as a father figure, as he believes. And it is at this point that Ego appears, who is played by the great Kurt Russell, who also did an excellent job in showing the typical loving father looking to meet his son, as well as being a powerful yet dangerous being with a vision and a purpose to fulfill.

Comparado con la primera película, esta la he visto menos veces, lo cual es decir poco por lo entretenido que es en general. Una vez más, se puede disfrutar de un guión, un desarrollo y un espectacular trabajo en efectos especiales, CGI y banda sonora que tiene esta secuela, la cual personalmente la considero un tantito mejor que su antecesora. Si bien es cierto que hubieron algunos detalles en cuanto a la historia o el villano que no me terminaron de gustar del todo, no quita que en general no tenga lo suficiente para ofrecer un excelente espectáculo. El trabajo de actuación del elenco, el estilo colorido que posee y la combinación perfecta de comedia y drama, con una excelente porción de aventura, hace de esta película una historia perfecta que cualquier fanático debería de conocer.

Gracias al gran James Gunn por haber dirigido esta película podemos contar con una historia muy bien hecha con un inicio romántico y emotivo que luego va evolucionando con el paso de los minutos. A la vez, se van revelando secretos, como el origen de Peter Quill, quien es interpretado por Chris Pratt, el cual realiza como siempre un excelente trabajo al mostrarnos a un aventurero reconocido que han vivido gran parte de su vida en el espacio y que nunca ha tenido a nadie como figura paterna, según él cree. Y es en este momento en el que aparece Ego, quien es interpretado por el gran Kurt Russell, el cual hizo también un excelente trabajo al demostrar el típico padre amoroso que buscaba encontrarse con su hijo, además de ser un ser poderoso y a la vez peligroso con una visión y un propósito que cumplir.

We also see the appearance of new characters, as well as the end of one or another character that many will hate or love for life. The way James Gunn manages to develop the characters so well, giving them a story and a meaning to everything they do is wonderful. Not to mention the incredible way of recreating scenes and/or moments that are unforgettable where photography, cameras, special effects and the background soundtrack make a perfect mix, giving birth to authentic audiovisual spectacles.

And it is the vivid and authentic way that this movie has in terms of special effects, CGI and sound effects that makes it one of the best science fiction and adventure movies that exists in the world of cinema and superheroes. James Gunn's unique style of making audiovisual masterpieces is simply perfect. The colorful, humorous and fun way of creating and telling stories, while showing us an entire galaxy is so impressive that it's hard not to get bored watching this movie. The soundtrack, for its part, is a rhythmic and harmonic demonstration of the story we are watching, starting from exciting to evolving into something strong and sentimental, as well as sad and nostalgic at the end. This film can generate all kinds of emotions, from happiness to hate and from humor to terror. All this until it leaves you with a bittersweet taste in your mouth with an ending that can make more than one person cry.

Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating for the adventure and science fiction genre.

Por otro lado, también vemos cómo la relación de Gamora con Nebula va evolucionando, pasando de ser odiadas hasta morir y pelearse en cualquier oportunidad en el que se encuentran hasta convertirse en las hermanas que siempre quisieron ser en secreto. También vemos la aparición de nuevos personajes, amén de ver el final de uno que otro personaje que muchos odiarán o amarán de por vida. La forma en la que James Gunn consigue desarrollar tan bien a los personajes, dándoles una historia y un sentido a todo lo que hacen es maravilloso. Eso sin contar con la increíble forma de recrear escenas y/o momentos que son inolvidables donde la fotografía, las cámaras, los efectos especiales y la banda sonora de fondo hacen una mezcla perfecta, naciendo de ahí auténticos espectáculos audiovisuales.

Y es la forma tan vivida y auténtica que tiene esta película en cuanto a efectos especiales, CGI y efectos de sonido la cual la convierte en una de las mejores películas de ciencia ficción y aventura que existe en el mundo del cine y de los superhéroes. El estilo único de James Gunn de realizar obras de arte audiovisuales es simplemente perfecto. La forma colorida, humorística y divertida de crear y narrar historias, a la vez de mostrarnos una galaxia entera es tan impresionante que es difícil no aburrirse viendo esta película. La banda sonora, por su parte, es una demostración rítmica y armónica de la historia que estamos viendo, partiendo de lo emocionante hasta evolucionar en algo fuerte y sentimental, así como triste y nostálgico al final. Esta película te puede generar todo tipo de emociones, desde felicidad hasta odio y desde humor hasta terror. Todo esto hasta dejarte con un sabor agridulce en la boca con un final que puede hacer llorar a más de una persona.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de aventura y ciencia ficción.
