Thelma - Movie Review [ES - EN]

Desde el momento en que Liam Neeson protagonizó “Taken”, abrió las puertas para que actores de cierta edad se convirtieran en héroes de acción; muchas producciones explotaron esa idea lo cual generó (como es normal) películas buenas y malas, pero de igual manera siempre fue interesante ver a personajes usar toda su experiencia y su edad como un arma para hacer justicia desde una posición en donde parecieran ser vulnerables, pero la realidad fue otra; está es una gran idea siempre pudo tomar diferentes rumbos y me alegra por fin ver un film que tenga de base lo antes descrito, pero con temas más cotidianos o reales.

Esta es una comedia con necesarios elementos dramáticos dirigida y escrita por Josh Margolin, la cual es la primera vez que dirige un largometraje en su corta carrera; su trabajo es correcto al enfocarse brevemente en la simple vida de una mujer que debe nuevamente arriesgarse para hacer justicia y es ahí en dónde debe explorar otras zonas de Los Angeles, lugar en donde se desarrolla la historia, esto es algo que aprecio porque me gusta ver esa ciudad en películas y el director crea buenas tomas en diferentes zonas que tienen mucho significado para los protagonistas, sea en un hogar, en un ancianato, en una calle o zona solitaria o hasta un cementerio; es un trabajo muy simple, pero perfecto para la película que es.

El guion es excelente, es lo mejor del film, es una historia con tantos matices cómicos y la vez dramáticos que envuelven a todos los protagonistas, existe un paso desde lo divertido, cómico a lo que realmente puede ser un duro drama y si, para eso uso la vejez de sus personajes, entre eso hay escenas sumamente cómicas y a la vez otras que pueden crear hasta ansiedad de verlas y eso es magnífico porque no funciona como burla para las personas ancianas, sino que muestra una realidad a la cual en algún momento de nuestras vidas debemos experimentar. Margolin realizó un gran balance entre la comedia y el drama en una historia de una mujer que muestra cómo aprende a lidiar con su vejez.

Margolin made a great balance between comedy and drama in a story of a woman who learns to deal with her old age.
