Star Wars: "Tales of the Empire" - TV Series Review [EN - ES]

Taking advantage of yet another celebration of "May the 4th Be Wiht You", I wanted to review some of the Star Wars movies that I have liked the most, but surprisingly I came across the premiere of the second season of an animated anthology production that tells stories focused on certain protagonists within this franchise that takes place in a galaxy far far away.

Aprovechando otra celebración más del "May de 4th Be Wiht You", quería hacer reseña de alguna de las películas de Star Wars que más me han gustado, pero de manera sorpresiva me encontré con el estreno de la segunda temporada de uno producción animada antológica que narra historias enfocadas en ciertos protagonistas dentro de esta franquicia que se desarrolla en una galaxia muy lejana.

In the first season, which received the title "Tales of the Jedi", the story is divided into two stories, we followed two Jedi, transiting through the light side of the force and depending on their experiences, they must decide how they end their way; now in this new season premiered on May 4, we focus on characters that in one way or another the empire changed their lifestyle and must deal with that forever. There are six episodes in which both stories will show us connection, depth and origin with other more relevant Star Wars stories.

En la primera temporada la cual recibió como título "Tales of the Jedi", la historia se divide en dos relatos, seguimos a dos Jedi, transitar por el lado luminoso de la fuerza y dependiendo de sus experiencias, deberán decidir como terminan su camino; ahora en esta nueva temporada estrenada en este 4 de mayo, nos enfocamos en personajes que de una manera u otra el imperio cambio su estilo de vida y deberán a lidiar con eso por siempre. Son seis episodios en que ambos relatos nos mostrarán conexión, profundidad y origen con otras historias más relevantes de Star Wars.

Dave Filoni has become very important for this franchise, from "Clone Wars" to "The Mandalorian", there is no doubt that Filoni is always willing to create history within Star Wars and "Tales" is another of his creations; this time with the contribution of other directors and screenwriters, shows in six episodes the way in which the Empire influenced the lives of those who were victims of the atrocious and vile practices of personalities who were the representation of such evil. The story uses two protagonists, in two different moments of the empire, one in its imposition at the beginning of the fight between rebels and the old republic, a fight where the Jedi had not fallen completely and just the other part of the season, tells a story where the empire already exists, there is the end of the Jedi, there is the hunt by the Inquisitors led by Darth Vader; both stories at different times, but where fear, rage and hatred will cloud the mind of those who suffer from it, taking them to the dark side of the force.

The first season was released in 2022 and in my opinion, the animation could have been better; I think they wanted to follow a style of what was seen in the animated series "Clone Wars" with of course noticeable improvements, but still I think they could have done something better and just in this season you can see that the animation is one of the strengths of the story; that makes very fluid and great battle scenes and character design; yes, that style is maintained in the exteriors where you feel like you are watching a video game from 2000, but I repeat, I think they want to keep certain details that can be related to other animated productions of the franchise; personally I really liked the style in these six episodes, very good images, good designs, excellent combat sequences, a great job.

Dave Filoni se ha convertido en alguien muy importante para esta franquicia, desde "Clone Wars" hasta "The Mandalorian", no hay duda que Filoni siempre está dispuesto a crear historia dentro de lo que es Star Wars y "Tales" es otra de sus creaciones; en esta oportunidad con el aporte de otros directores y guionistas, demuestra en seis episodios la manera en como el Imperio influyó en la vida de quienes fueron víctimas de las atroces y viles prácticas de personalidades que fueron representación de dicha maldad. La historia usa a dos protagonistas, en dos momentos diferentes del imperio, uno en su imposición en el comienzo del combate entre rebeldes y la vieja república, una lucha en dónde los Jedis no habían caído por completo y justamente la otra parte de la temporada, relata una historia en dónde ya existe el imperio, existe el fin de los Jedis, existe la cacería por parte de los Inquisidores liderados por Darth Vader; ambas historia en momentos diferentes, pero en donde el miedo, la rabia y el odio, nublaran la mente de quien lo padezca llevándolo al lado oscuro de la fuerza.

La primera temporada se estrenó en el 2022 y en mi opinión, la animación pudo ser mejor; creo que se quiso seguir un estilo de lo visto en la serie animada "Clone Wars" con por supuesto notorias mejorías, pero de igual manera creo que se pudo hacer algo mejor y justamente en esta temporada se nota que la animación es uno de los puntos fuertes de la historia; eso hace muy fluido y genial las escenas de batallas y el diseño de los personajes; eso sí, se mantiene ese estilo en los exteriores en donde se siente que se estuviera viendo un juego de video del 2000, pero repito, creo que se quiere mantener ciertos detalles que se puedan relacionar con otras producciones animadas de la franquicia; personalmente me gustó mucho el estilo en estos seis episodios, muy buenas imágenes, buenos diseños, excelente secuencias de combates, un gran trabajo.

Tales of The Empire is great, it has more drama and that's what I liked the most, it's about the suffering caused by the loss, the imposition of an idea, what led to believe in that idea; it's a production where in six episodes, of very short duration, we will see characters not overcoming a traumatic event, but succumbing to that trauma, surrendering and changing to deal with what their lives became and despite being starred by little known characters, I think it's important for that to happen, I think it shows some freedom to delve in this case in how the Empire acted after its imposition in power and that makes this story there are no winners, but hope which is a fundamental theme in Star Wars, the path of a complete fall or that of redemption, that's what I like about this franchise and that I hope at some point to see again this kind of stories on the big screen. I recommend this short series, both seasons, as well as "Visions", are good stories that recover the essence of Star Wars and are excellent choices to celebrate this day.

Tales of The Empire es genial, tiene más drama y eso es lo que más me ha gustado, es sobre el sufrimiento causado por la perdida, la imposición de una idea, lo que llevó a creer en esa idea; es una producción en dónde en seis episodios, de muy corta duración, veremos a personajes no superar un evento traumático, sino sucumbir a dicho trauma, rendirse y cambiar para lidiar con lo que se convirtió sus vidas y a pesar de ser protagonizada por personajes poco conocidos, creo que es importante que eso suceda, creo que se muestra cierta libertad para profundizar en este caso en como actuó el Imperio después de su imposición en el poder y eso hace que está historia no haya ganadores, pero si esperanza lo cual es un tema fundamental en Star Wars, el camino de una caída completa o el de la redención, eso es lo que me gusta de esta franquicia y que espero en algún momento ver nuevamente este tipo de historias en la gran pantalla. Recomiendo esta corta serie, ambas temporadas, así como la de "Visions", son buenos relatos que recuperan la esencia de Star Wars y son excelentes opciones para celebrar este día.
