Contest number 64 of the CineTV community and this time I decided to participate because the theme is "Favorite Action Movie"; this is a genre that in my opinion is emerging again where again is present the protagonist who without having superpowers, a special suit or a mask, can stop an army of enemies and save the world whom he wants to protect from a serious threat, all this by way of his agility in combat, his cunning and intelligence and if you do not believe me that this genre is booming, just look at what has happened with movies like "John Wick", "Fast & Furious" and "Mission: Impossible".

Concurso número 64 de la comunidad de CineTV y en esta oportunidad decidí participar por qué el tema es "Favorite Action Movie"; este es un género que en mi opinión está surgiendo nuevamente en dónde nuevamente está presente el protagonista que sin tener superpoderes, un traje especial o un antifaz, puede detener un ejército de enemigos y salvar al mundo a quienes desea proteger de una grave amenaza, todo eso por la vía de su agilidad en el combate, su astucia e inteligencia y si no me creen que este género está tomando auge, solamente vean lo que ha sucedido con películas como "Jhon Wick", "Fast & Furious" y "Mission: Impossible".

Just yesterday I had the opportunity to see the tenth movie of the F&F franchise and I was thinking about the influences that had been taken to evolve not only this story, but the character of "Dom Toretto" and I immediately thought of the film where a clear reference is made to what is known as "One Man Army", that main character who is above all, enemies, allies and something very important, logic; just that, logic, is what is missing in this type of stories, especially in the action genre and there is no doubt that if there are films that represent or can be considered as pioneers in that style, are the action films of the 80's and this time I decided to participate in this contest with a classic of that genre, "COMMANDO "; this movie released in 1985, stars none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger**_ and tells the story of a retired colonel, "John Matrix" who lives away from civilization, in a mountainous area with his young daughter; A peaceful, quiet life, until an enemy from the past returns to put an end to that peace and that is achieved with the abduction of John's daughter, that will make this experienced ex-military make the rescue of his daughter, the most important mission of his life and he will not rest until he recovers her and makes those who attempted with his life and that of his family pay.

Justamente el día de ayer tuve la oportunidad de ver la décima película de la franquicia de F&F y pensaba de las influencias que se había tomado para hacer evolucionar no solo está historia, sino el personaje de "Dom Toretto" e inmediatamente pensé en la película donde se hace una clara referencia a lo que se conoce como "El Ejército de un Hombre", ese personaje principal que está por encima de todos, enemigos, aliados y algo muy importante, a lógica; justamente eso, la lógica, es lo que falta en este tipo de historias, en especial en el género de la acción y no hay duda que si hay películas que representan o que se les puede considerar como pioneras en ese estilo, son las películas de acción de los 80' y en esta oportunidad decidí participar en este concurso con un clásico de ese género, "COMMANDO"; está película estrenada en 1985, es protagonizada nada más y nada menos que Arnold Schwarzenegger y relata la historia de un coronel retirado, "John Matrix" quien vive alejado de la civilización, en una zona montañosa junto a su pequeña hija; una vida pacífica, tranquila, hasta que un enemigo del pasado regresa a terminar con esa paz y eso lo logra con el rapto de la hija de John, eso hará que esté experimentado ex-militar haga del rescate de su hija, la misión más importante de su vida y no descansará hasta recuperarla y hacer pagar a quienes atentaron con su vida y la de su familia.

This film is from the beginning the clear representation of how was the representation of the action genre of the 80's where as I said before, there was no such heroes based on a comic book character, the main thing was to give importance to the image of someone powerful, physically and mentally, which was unstoppable when facing his enemies and it was increasingly feasible to see strong actors or with some agility in combat, to be who led these productions where the public accepted them and in my opinion was the cause of creating the golden age of the action genre in cinema. This film offers good action sequences, actually I think that the director Mark L. Lester does a good job creating different action sequences, giving necessary pauses, introducing comic moments, and then closing with the great action sequence, which has a duration of 20 minutes.

The story I can't say how good it is because in the end the simpler it is, the better it works because for that time, the motivation of the protagonists, heroes and villains, was extremely simple, not to bother a person who is an expert in weapons, combat, explosive, which is in itself a lethal weapon because in the end you will end up losing, mainly that's what this movie is, a pretext to make Arnold look good and it works; this movie is a clear example of how cinema worked at that time where the development of the character was not so vital, the important thing was to show how lethal the character was, how invincible he was and as I said before that was allowed and with that I must also say that if there was someone perfect for representing that image, that was Arnold Schwarzenegger, I think there was no one else who represented better what it refers to a man vs. The villain's army and if his acting wasn't important at all, what was relevant were the scenes leaving corpses in his way.

Este film es desde un comienzo la clara representación de como era la representación del género de la acción de los 80' en dónde como dije anteriormente, no existía esos héroes basado en un personaje de comics, lo principal estaba dar importancia a la imagen de alguien poderoso, física y mentalmente, el cual era imparable al momento de enfrentar as sus enemigos y es que cada vez más era factible el ver a actores fuertes o con alguna agilidad en el combate, ser quienes lideraban estas producciones en dónde el público las aceptaba y en mi opinión fue el causante de crear la época dorada del género de acción en el cine. Este film ofrece buenas secuencias de acción, en realidad opino que el director Mark L. Lester hace un buen trabajo creando diferentes secuencias de acción, dando pausas necesarias, introduciendo momentos cómicos, para después cerrar con la gran secuencia de acción, la cual tiene una duración de 20 minutos.

La historia no puedo decir que tan buena es porque al final mientras más simple sea, mejor funciona porque para esa época, la motivación de los protagonistas, héroes y villanos, era sumamente simple, no molestar a una persona que es un experto en armas, combate, explosivo, que es en sí una arma letal porque al final terminaras perdiendo, principalmente es eso lo que es está película, un pretexto para hacer lucir bien a Arnold y funciona; esta película es un claro ejemplo de como funcionaba el cine en esa época en dónde el desarrollo del personaje no era tan vital, lo importante era demostrar que tan letal era el personaje, qué invencible era y como dije anteriormente eso era permitido y con eso también debo decir que si había alguien perfecto por representar esa imagen, ese era Arnold Schwarzenegger, creo que no había más nadie que representaba mejor lo referente a un hombre vs. El ejército del villano y es que si actuación no era para nada importante, lo que si era relevante son las escenas dejando cadáveres por su paso.

To be honest, "COMMANDO" is not in itself my favorite movie of Schwarzenegger, that's "Predator", but as I said at the beginning of this publication, seeing a film like "Fast X" where its protagonist is more than the others and offers that image of invincible, made me think or ask myself the question: What movie was it influenced by? And I immediately thought of Commando because it is in my opinion a clear example of how to write and represent characters of that style and possibly the whole film is an example because it must be said that action films, released in 1985, Commando is the highest grossing film in that year when it had to compete with other films starring Sylvester Stallone and Chuck Norris and that is why this film opened or showed the way to follow for other stories in the future and at this moment I like more than to point out or say that this is my favorite film, more than anything I want to make a tribute to one of the many films of the 80's that entertained me the most and that I saw the most when I was a kid with my father. Siendo sincero, "COMMANDO" no es en sí mi película favorita de Schwarzenegger, esa es "Predator", pero como dije al principio de esta publicación, ver un film como "Fast X" en dónde su protagonista es más que los demás y ofrece esa imagen de invencible, me hizo pensar o plantearme la pregunta ¿De qué película se influyeron? E inmediatamente pensé en Commando porque es en mi opinión un claro ejemplo en como escribir y representar a personajes de ese estilo y posiblemente la película completa sea un ejemplo porque hay que decir que las películas de acción, estrenadas en 1985, Commando es el film que más recaudó en ese año cuando debió competir con otros films protagonizados por Sylvester Stallone y Chuck Norris y es por qué está película abrió o mostró el camino a seguir para otras historias en el futuro y en este momento me gusta más que señalar o decir que está es mi película favorita, más que nada quiero hacer un homenaje de uno de los muchos films de los 80' que más me entretuvo y que más vi cuando era niño junto a mi padre.
