Greetings friends of the community, I hope you are great today. I have a certain taste for the horror genre since I was a child, so much so that one of the things I most enjoyed buying DVDs that included several movies in one, was to find one that was a collection of horror and thanks to this I saw many classics of the horror genre, but today I want to talk about one especially zombie-themed, a subgenre that I enjoy too much and whenever movies or series are released I keep them on my list to see them, today I want to talk about the 2004 film called "Dawn of the Dead".

Dawn of the Dead, like many of the zombie movies has a simple plot in terms of the theme that revolves, a virus appears, people are infected, these begin to attack others, those who are not attacked try to survive and that would be practically everything, what usually changes is the type of virus, how the zombies are represented and the imaginary rules that are decided, since zombies do not exist or at least not as in the movies. I also want to say that this movie is a remake of another movie with the same name from 1978, this remake was Zack Snyder's debut as a director.

Let me introduce you to our protagonist named Ana, a nurse who has finished her shift, but is still in her work area, we are told about a patient who was bitten in a fight and is now in intensive care, thus giving us hints of what is about to happen. Ana leaves, on her way home she changes the radio stations and for a few seconds we can hear that there have been isolated cases and unusual things are happening, but clearly it is not yet cause for alarm.

Ana spends the rest of the day with her boyfriend, they have a quiet life and are happy, until a new day dawns. Ana's boyfriend wakes up and observes a little girl from the neighborhood in his room, when he sees the girl's mouth he has it shattered, he runs to her to ask if she is ok and the little girl attacks him to death, I must say that everyone reacts differently in unexpected situations, but my first reaction would not have been to approach her, although of course, I have seen many zombie movies so my thinking is more careful, haha, continuing with the movie, Ana manages to escape from the house and when she leaves she notices that the situation does not seem very hopeful, her neighbors are attacking each other, there are houses on fire, everything seems to be in chaos, she gets into her car and leaves.

While on the road the only thing she finds is more chaos, people asking for help, others desperate to escape, so someone tries to take Ana out of her car to steal it, she manages to avoid it but crashes into a tree, when she gets out of the car she meets an officer, whom she follows since he is going to a shelter, On the way they cross paths with other uninfected people and they tell them that getting to the shelter is almost impossible because of the amount of zombies, they head to the supermarket and so Ana and the officer join them, once inside the supermarket their only option is to try to survive and try to secure the place, but is the supermarket really safe? That's how the rest of the movie unfolds, trying to survive.

I remembered this movie with much affection and now that I had the opportunity to see it again I can reaffirm that it is one of the best zombie movies out there at least for my tastes, it is a film made in 2004 so one might think that some visual aspects or makeup are not a big deal, but on the contrary, it is one of its strengths, really scary zombies in this movie and are very well done, plus very good scenes with different moments of suspense, tension and many surprises.

Regarding the story, as I mentioned above, it is something very linear, with some variations depending on the film, but taking the same path as many others, what makes this special are the characters, that although we do not get to know them completely, they generate different emotions depending on whether we like or dislike each one and thus giving variety to the whole development of the film, showing us different personalities and how this can be an advantage or a disadvantage, it all depends on the point of view from which you look at it. What I do have to mention as a negative point, is that there are certain moments in which illogical scenes occur, I understand that I should not look for logic in a movie about zombies, but I would say that adding a few more scenes would have made much more sense or would explain in a better way certain events, but beyond that, I have no more complaints.

A movie that entertains you from beginning to end, even if you are not a zombie lover like me, you really end up intrigued by how they will end up resolving the situation or if they will be overcome by it. Something I almost forgot to mention, are the visual effects, here if I can't defend them at all but I come back and repeat, it's a 2004 movie, nowadays we are used to different uses of technologies to create more realistic things, but clearly I can't judge a 2004 movie with 2023 demands, so at the time of its release, I don't doubt that they were amazing, but I couldn't help thinking at various times things like "How fake that fire looks", "that explosion doesn't look realistic at all" and things like that, but as I say, it's a more than personal detail, it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the film.

If you like to see a zombie movie, no doubt this is the one, it is a good movie to enter fully into the subgenre of horror, but if you are already familiar with it will also be a pleasant surprise to see a classic like this, so give it a chance would not be bad and I assure you will enjoy it.

Tengo cierto gusto por el genero del terror desde muy pequeño, tanto así que una de las cosas que mas disfrutaba de comprar los DVDs que incluían varias películas en una, era encontrar alguno que fuese una colección de terror y gracias a esto me vi muchos clásicos del genero del terror, pero hoy quiero hablarles de una en especial de temática zombis, un subgénero que disfruto demasiado y siempre que se estrenan películas o series las guardo en mi lista para verlas, hoy les quiero hablar de la película del año 2004 llamada “El amanecer de los muertos”.

El amanecer de los muertos, como muchas de las películas de zombis tiene una trama sencilla en cuanto al tema que gira, aparece un virus, personas se infectan, estas empiezan a atacar a otros, los que no son atacados intentan sobrevivir y eso sería prácticamente todo, lo que suele cambiar es el tipo de virus, el cómo son representados los zombis y las reglas imaginarias que son decididas, ya que los zombis no existen o al menos no como en las películas. También quiero decir que esta película es una versión nueva de otra película con el mismo nombre del año 1978, esta nueva versión fue el debut de Zack Snyder como director.

Permítanme que les presente a nuestra protagonista llamada Ana, una enfermera que ya terminó con su turno, pero sigue en su área de trabajo, se nos menciona a un paciente al cual mordieron en una pelea y ahora se encuentra en cuidados intensivos, así nos van dando indicios de lo que está pronto a suceder. Ana se va, en su camino a casa cambia las estaciones de la radio y por pocos segundos podemos escuchar que ha habido casos aislados y cosas inusuales están sucediendo, pero claramente todavía no es motivo para alarmarse.

Ana pasa el resto del día con su novio, tienen una vida tranquila y son felices, hasta que amanece un nuevo día. El novio de Ana se despierta y observa a una pequeña niña del vecindario en su habitación, cuando ve la boca de la niña la tiene destrozada, éste corre hacia ella para preguntarle si está bien y la pequeña niña lo ataca de muerte, debo decir que cada persona reacciona distinto en situaciones inesperadas, pero mi primera reacción no hubiese sido acercarme a ella, aunque claro, he visto muchas películas de zombis por lo que mi pensamiento es más cuidadoso, jaja, siguiendo con la película, Ana logra escapar de la casa y al salir se percata de que la situación no parece muy esperanzadora, sus vecinos están atacándose entre ellos mismos, hay casas en llamas, todo parece estar en caos, se sube a su auto y se va.

Mientras va en la carretera lo único que encuentra es más caos, personas pidiendo ayuda, otros desesperados por escapar, así alguien intenta sacar a Ana de su auto para robarlo, ella consigue evitarlo pero choca contra un árbol, al salir del auto conoce a un oficial, al cual sigue puesto que éste se dirige a un refugio, en el camino se cruzan con otros no infectados y les cuentan que llegar al refugio es casi imposible por la cantidad de zombis, ellos se dirigen al supermercado y así Ana y el oficial se les unen, una vez dentro del supermercado su única opción es intentar sobrevivir e intentar asegurar el lugar, pero ¿realmente es seguro el supermercado? Así se desarrolla el resto de la película, intentar sobrevivir.

Recordaba esta película con mucho cariño y ahora que tuve la oportunidad de volver a verla puedo reafirmar que es una de las mejores películas de zombis que hay al menos para mis gustos, es una película realizada en el año 2004 por lo que uno podría pensar que algunos aspectos visuales o de maquillaje no son la gran cosa, pero todo lo contrario, es uno de sus fuertes, realmente los zombis de esta película dan miedo y están muy bien hechos, además de muy buenas escenas con diferentes momentos de suspenso, tensión y muchas sorpresas.

Con respecto a la historia, como mencionaba más arriba, es algo muy lineal, con algunas variaciones según la película, pero llevando el mismo camino que muchas otras, lo que hace a esta especial son los personajes, que aunque no les llegamos a conocer del todo, nos generan distintas emociones según nos agraden o disgusten cada uno y dando así variedad a todo el desarrollo de la película, mostrándonos diferentes personalidades y el cómo esto puede ser una ventaja o una desventaja, todo depende del punto de vista del que se mire. Lo que sí debo mencionar como un punto negativo, es que hay ciertos momentos en los que se producen escenas ilógicas, entiendo que no debo buscar lógica en una película sobre zombis, pero diría que agregando algunas cuantas escenas más habrían tenido mucho más sentido o se explicaría de una mejor manera ciertos sucesos, pero más allá de eso, no tengo más quejas.

Una película que te entretiene de principio a fin, aunque no seas un amante de los zombis como yo, realmente te termina intrigando el cómo terminarán resolviendo la situación o si serán superados por la misma. Algo que casi olvido mencionar, son los efectos visuales, aquí si no puedo defenderlos del todo pero vuelvo y repito, es una película del 2004, actualmente estamos acostumbrados a diferentes usos de tecnologías para crear cosas más realistas, pero claramente no puedo juzgar una película del 2004 con exigencias del 2023, por lo que para el momento de su estreno, no dudo que hayan sido alucinantes, pero no pude evitar pensar en varios momentos cosas como “Qué falso se ve ese fuego”, “esa explosión no parece nada realista” y cosas por el estilo, pero como digo, es un detalle más que todo personal, no afecta en nada el disfrute de la película.

Si gustan ver una película de zombis, sin dudas esta es la indicada, es una buena película para entrar de lleno al subgénero del terror, pero si ya eres conocedor del mismo también será una grata sorpresa ver un clásico como este, por lo que darle una oportunidad no estaría mal y aseguro que la disfrutarás.
