Today I went to one of my favorite websites where I usually browse through movies to see what catches my attention and I found one which interested me both for its name and for one of the actors on the cover and this was Anthony Mackie, who has given life to the superhero Falcon in Marvel and also acted in 8 thousands being "Papa Doc", so I was intrigued about what kind of movie this could be, so I decided to give it a try and so today I want to talk about the movie called "If you were the last", let's start.

This movie released on streaming on October 20, 2023 is a romantic comedy, but also includes some science fiction by the environment in which it occurs and is that in this new story that we are presented, our protagonists are in a broken space shuttle where three years have passed since a NASA mission went wrong, so our protagonists seek ways to entertain themselves before their end comes, as both have little hope of being rescued and so one of them raises whether they should have sex with each other or not.
Let's talk a little bit about what happens in the movie in depth, the movie starts with a chess game between our protagonists who have a conversation at the same time about the large amount of money invested just to send a man to go around mars, which seems silly to Jane and she thinks that this money could be invested in saving lives, but Adam debates that this action united the world and so they continue debating, both remain silent and then Adam asks if she thinks they will not send anyone to rescue them and so we discover that they are in space, trapped in a broken space shuttle.

So we see the routine that our protagonists have, for example, exercise to keep fit in space, Jane cleans ventilation ducts, Adam is responsible for taking care of the plants they have (besides trying to form a hybrid between blueberry and marijuana), watch movies, distract themselves in the best way they can each and this is repeated day after day, to the point that they already have a certain routine which keeps them sane.

Jane every day tries to make the shuttle work by trying some combinations of wires, which are hundreds of wires, which makes more than billions of possible combinations, which makes it almost impossible to really make it work, but still she tries every day and as expected, she fails in each of her attempts, we can even appreciate how she has a blackboard in which she writes down each day she fails and you can appreciate the amount of time she has been trying, but it is a way in which she feels she is doing something useful.
At a certain point in the day, as they are both stretching, a conversation comes up and Adam hints to her that maybe they should have sex, to which Jane just laughs, Adam says it's not a crazy idea, plus it could be a good form of distraction, to which Jane assures him that she has 3 reasons why she wouldn't have sex with him, which are revealed as the film progresses, but knowing that they have no chance of being saved and that they are both there, should they remain friends or maybe be something more?

From this point I will talk about my opinion regarding the movie without spoilers, leaving the rest of what happens for those who wish to see the movie on their own, so I want to tell you what I think about the story, at first I found interesting the fact of two people trapped in space, because I have seen some movies with similar themes and they are always interesting and this was no exception, although I must say that for a moment it bored me, clearly because it still did not reach the interesting part of the story, but once I got to that point I was very involved in the movie, I was even surprised that there was a change in the movie that I did not expect, so I thought it was an excellent story.
The comedy section I must say that it is peculiar, it is a type of humor that in certain moments does not seek to be funny and it does, but in others you can see the attempt to be funny with certain eccentricities, but it fulfills its objective honestly, at least I was laughing in many parts of the film, there were even scenes where they simply had to show something and this generated a lot of laughter, because as I mentioned, it is a particular type of humor, a little silly certainly, but very entertaining.

As I mentioned at the beginning, it is not only comedy, it also has romance in it, but I would say that this is curious, the way it is raised in this film is not in the conventional way, besides that in this film a question is raised, besides talking about certain theories of the same romance, so it is quite curious how the plot develops based on this, at least it made me think about what was happening in the film, because having just the theories that they raise, it makes you think.
The truth is that the film takes certain interesting themes and the fact of being in space was an interesting way to tell a story, but there are two things I must say, the first is that there was a certain detail that I can't mention at all to avoid making spoilers, but it really seemed to me that there is a scene that had no logical reason to be there (this is outside of science fiction) and that had some impact on the film, is the only detail that didn't seem right, it was just a way to get to another end.

The other thing I wanted to comment is that it is not the best movie in the world that you will see, not really, but it is a good movie, one of those that you can enjoy on a weekend when you don't have something to see or just to laugh and you will enjoy it, both for the story and for the comedy and romance, but as I said, it is not the most extraordinary story in the world. El día de hoy entré a una de mis páginas favoritas donde suelo indagar entre películas para ver cuál me llama la atención y encontré una la cual me interesó tanto por su nombre, como por uno de los actores en la portada y éste era Anthony Mackie, quien ha dado vida al superhéroe de Falcon en Marvel y también actuado en 8 miles siendo “Papa Doc”, por lo que me dio intriga de qué tipo de película podría ser esta, así que decidí darle una oportunidad y así es que el día de hoy quiero hablarles de la película llamada “Si fueras el último”, comencemos.

Esta película estrenada en streaming el 20 de octubre del año 2023 es una comedia romántica, pero que también incluye cierta parte de ciencia ficción por el entorno en el que ocurre y es que en esta nueva historia que nos presentan, nuestros protagonistas se encuentran en un transbordador espacial averiada donde han pasado tres años desde que una misión de la NASA salió mal, así nuestros protagonistas buscan formas de entretenerse antes de que llegue su final, ya que ambos tienen pocas esperanzas de ser rescatados y así uno de ellos plantea si deberían tener sexo entre ellos o no.
Hablemos un poco de lo que sucede en la película a profundidad, la película comienza con una partida de ajedrez entre nuestros protagonistas quienes mantienen una conversación al mismo tiempo sobre la gran cantidad de dinero invertida tan sólo para enviar a un hombre a que diese una vuelta a marte, lo cual le parece una tontería a Jane y ella piensa que ese dinero podría ser invertido en salvar vidas, pero Adam debate que esa acción unió al mundo y así siguen debatiendo, ambos se quedan en silencio y luego Adam pregunta si piensa que no enviarán a nadie a rescatarlos y así descubrimos que están en el espacio, atrapados en un transbordador espacial averiado.

Poco a poco vamos viendo la rutina que tienen nuestros protagonistas, por ejemplo, el hacer ejercicio para mantenerse en forma en el espacio, Jane limpia conductos de ventilación, Adam se encarga de cuidar las plantas que tienen (además de intentar querer formar un hibrido entre arándano y marihuana), ven películas, se distraen de la mejor forma que puede cada uno y esto lo van repitiendo día tras día, hasta el punto de que ya tienen cierta rutina la cual los mantiene cuerdos.

Jane cada día intenta hacer que el transbordador funcione intentando algunas combinaciones de cables, los cuales son cientos de cables, lo que hace que hayan más de miles de millones de combinaciones posibles, lo que hace casi imposible que realmente pueda hacer que la misma funcione, pero aún así intenta cada día y como es de esperarse, falla en cada uno de sus intentos, incluso podemos apreciar el cómo tiene una pizarra en la cual anota cada día en el que falla y se pueden apreciar la cantidad de tiempo que lleva intentándolo, pero es una forma en la que siente que está haciendo algo útil.
En cierto punto del día, mientras ambos se están estirando, surge una conversación y Adam le insinúa que quizás deberían tener sexo, a lo que Jane simplemente se ríe, Adam dice que no es una idea descabellada, además que podría ser una buena forma de distracción, a lo que Jane asegura que tiene 3 razones por las cuales no tendría sexo con él, las cuales se van revelando a medida que avanza la película, pero sabiendo que no tienen posibilidades de ser salvados y que ambos están allí, ¿deberían seguir siendo amigos o quizás ser algo más?

A partir de este punto hablaré de mi opinión con respecto a la película sin spoilers, dejando el resto de lo que sucede para aquellos que deseen ver la película por su cuenta, por lo que quiero comentarles lo que pienso sobre la historia, al principio me pareció interesante el hecho de dos personas atrapadas en el espacio, porque he visto algunas películas con temáticas similares y siempre resultan interesantes y esta no fue la excepción, aunque debo decir que por un momento me aburrió, claramente porque todavía no se llegaba a lo interesante de la historia, pero una vez llegado a ése punto estaba muy metido en la película, hasta me sorprendió que hubo un cambio en la misma que no me esperaba, por lo que me pareció una excelente historia.
El apartado de la comedia debo decir que es peculiar, es un tipo de humor que en ciertos momentos no busca dar gracia y lo hace, pero en otras se ve el intento de hacer gracia con ciertas excentricidades, pero cumple con su objetivo honestamente, al menos yo me estuve riendo en muchas partes de la película, incluso hubieron escenas donde simplemente tuvieron que mostrar algo y esto me generaba mucha risa, porque como bien menciono, es un tipo de humor particular, un poco tonto ciertamente, pero muy entretenido.

Como bien mencioné al principio, no es sólo comedia, también tiene romance en ella, pero diría que esto es curioso, la manera en que es planteado en esta película no es de la forma convencional, además que en esta película se plantea una pregunta, además de hablar de ciertas teorías del mismo romance, por lo que es bastante curioso como se va desarrollando la trama en base a esto, por lo menos a mí me hizo pensar sobre lo que ocurría en la película, porque teniendo justo las teorías que plantean, te hace pensar.
La verdad es que la película toma ciertos temas interesantes y el hecho de estar en el espacio fue una forma interesante de contar una historia, pero hay dos cosas que debo decir, la primera es que hubo cierto detalle que no puedo mencionar del todo para no hacer spoiler, pero realmente me pareció que hay una escena que no tenía razón lógica de estar ahí (esto es fuera de la ciencia ficción) y eso tuvo cierto impacto en la película, es el único detalle que no me pareció correcto, sólo fue un camino para poder llegar a otro fin.

Lo otro que quería comentar, es que no es la mejor película del mundo que verán, la verdad es que no, pero es una buena película, de esas que puedes disfrutar un fin de semana cuando no tienes algo que ver o simplemente para reírte y la vas a disfrutar, tanto por la historia como por la comedia y romance, pero como bien digo, no es la historia más extraordinaria del mundo.
