[ESP-ENG] Film Review: Saw (2004) - The dark survival game that will keep you on edge.
Hola amigos cinéfilos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv espero se encuentren muy bien el día de hoy, quiero compartir con ustedes mi opinión acerca de una película de género horror que me recomendó mi hermana y que de hecho ella quiso verla conmigo porque temía que me fuera a resultar demasiado fuerte por qué la película contiene escenas de violencia gráfica que para algunos puede generar ansiedad o incluso sensación de perturbación por el hecho de tener tantas escenas donde hay muertes de formas gráficas y violentas. Está película es Saw del año 2004, la primera de una serie de películas de terror que han sido muy populares entre los fanáticos de que está primera película la cual logró sorprenderme bastante y que aunque no es mi género preferido de películas que suelo ver; me gustó bastante y me resultó bastante buena para ser la primera película dirigida por el actor y director Leigh Whannell. Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are very well today, I want to share with you my opinion about a horror movie that my sister recommended me and in fact she wanted to see it with me because she feared that I would be too strong because the film contains scenes of graphic violence that for some can generate anxiety or even a feeling of disturbance by the fact of having so many scenes where there are deaths in graphic and violent ways. This movie is Saw from 2004, the first of a series of horror movies that have been very popular among fans of this first movie which managed to surprise me quite a lot and although it is not my favorite genre of movies I usually see; I liked it quite a lot and I found it quite good for being the first film directed by actor and director Leigh Whannell. Without further ado, I will start talking about this movie and what I thought of it, I invite you to read on.
La historia comienza con dos hombres llamados Adam y Lawrence que están encerrados en una especie de cuarto totalmente putrefacto, dónde ambos se encuentran atados en los pies con una cadena que no les permite moverse y tratar de salir de ese horrible lugar. Además de estar ahí y no saber que es lo que está pasando en medio de el cuarto hay un cuerpo de un hombre muerto y un enorme charco de sangre que lo rodea junto a una pistola que aparenta ser el arma que usó para acabar con su vida. La situación de estar encerrados y no saber por qué o quien los tiene allí los hace sentirse abrumados y desesperados, ambos tratan de ayudarse a tratar de salir de esa situación tan tenebrosa.
The story begins with two men named Adam and Lawrence who are locked in a kind of totally rotten room, where both are tied at the feet with a chain that does not allow them to move and try to get out of that horrible place. Besides being there and not knowing what is happening in the middle of the room there is a body of a dead man and a huge pool of blood surrounding him along with a gun that appears to be the weapon he used to end his life. The situation of being locked up and not knowing why or who has them there makes them feel overwhelmed and desperate, both try to help each other to try to get out of this dark situation.
En el tiempo en que Adam y Lawrence permanecen encerrados ambos buscan la manera de poder salir con vida de ese lugar así que tratan de buscar en los lugares que pueden alcanzar ya que se encuentran atados por una cadena que en varias ocasiones intentan cortar pero que por más que lo intentan no logran más que cansarse y sentirse agobiados y asustados. Las cosas empiezan a cambiar cuando encuentran diferentes mensajes, uno lo encuentra Adam en la billetera de Lawrence mientras veía una foto de su familia pero está foto tenía escrito un mensaje donde claramente decía que Adam debía acabar con la vida de Lawrence, por lo que Lawrence esconde la foto y no le dice nada a Adam por miedo a como el pueda reaccionar.
During the time that Adam and Lawrence remain locked up, both are looking for a way to get out of that place alive, so they try to look in the places they can reach since they are tied by a chain that they try to cut several times but no matter how hard they try, they only get tired and feel overwhelmed and scared. Things start to change when they find different messages, one found by Adam in Lawrence's wallet while he was looking at a picture of his family but this picture had a message written on it where it clearly said that Adam should end Lawrence's life, so Lawrence hides the picture and does not say anything to Adam for fear of how he might react.
En la película muestran varios mensajes de un desconocido que parece ser un psicópata que quiere por alguna razón que Adam y Lawrence se maten entre si, está situación pone en desesperación a ambos y tratan de buscar una manera de poder salir de allí lo antes posible mientras se dan cuenta también de que están siendo vigilados por una cámara donde el posible psicópata está jugando un juego en el que quiere verlos muertos. Las escenas dentro del cuarto son bastante gráficas donde Lawrence mete la mano en un momento de desesperación en un inodoro que está cerca de él y este se encuentra sucio pero el tenía la esperanza de encontrar alguna llave que pudiera servir para abrir la cadena que lo mantiene sujeto en aquel lugar al igual que Adam.
In the movie they show several messages from a stranger who seems to be a psychopath who wants for some reason that Adam and Lawrence kill each other, this situation puts both of them in desperation and they try to find a way to get out of there as soon as possible while they also realize that they are being watched by a camera where the possible psychopath is playing a game in which he wants to see them dead. The scenes inside the room are quite graphic where Lawrence reaches in a moment of desperation into a toilet that is near him and it is dirty but he was hoping to find a key that could be used to open the chain that keeps him and Adam in that place.
Durante la película hay escenas que muestran un antes y un después, en las escenas anteriores a los eventos del momento presente muestran como la policía busca a un posible psicópata por estar asociado a varias muertes de maneras horribles y violentas, el cual tenía una forma muy peculiar de elegir por asi decirlo a sus víctimas que tienen ciertas características como por ejemplo que se sienten desafortunados o que no están felices con la vida que tienen, esto para el psicópata es algo detestable y piensa que personas así no merecen vivir por lo que decide ponerlos en situaciones donde todo se convierte en una especie de juego macabro dónde las víctimas tienen que tratar de seguir con vida en un tiempo determinado y si no lo cumplen terminan muriendo por distintas razones. Este sujeto parece estar relacionado con el secuestro de Adam y Lawrence y está jugando un juego maquiavélico dónde quiere ver cómo ambos terminan con su vida.

This guy seems to be related to the kidnapping of Adam and Lawrence and is playing a Machiavellian game where he wants to see how both end their lives.

Fue conocida por sus escenas intensas y emocionantes, que mantuvieron a los espectadores al borde de los nervios y la expectacion de lo que podía pasar en el siguiente minuto. Uno de los aspectos más destacados de "SAW" fue su capacidad para crear una atmósfera de tensión constante. Las escenas estaban llenas de suspenso y misterio, lo que generaba una sensación de anticipación inquietante las personas que vimos está película. It was known for its intense and thrilling scenes, which kept viewers on edge with nerves and anticipation of what could happen in the next minute. One of the highlights of "SAW" was its ability to create an atmosphere of constant tension. The scenes were full of suspense and mystery, which generated a sense of eerie anticipation for the people who watched this movie. Every ordeal and torture the characters faced was designed with such meticulousness and detail that it was impossible to look away. The way the most shocking scenes were presented, with graphic and sometimes grotesque images, left me wondering what surprises awaited them next.

Much of the credit for the success of "SAW" goes to the cast of talented actors who brought the characters to life. Cary Elwes, as Dr. Lawrence Gordon, delivered a compelling and emotionally intense performance. He managed to convey his character's torment and despair in a powerful way, making us feel his anguish as he fought for his life. Leigh Whannell, who also co-wrote the film, played Adam, the photographer trapped with Dr. Gordon. His nervousness and paranoia-laden performance perfectly captured the anguish and terror his character was experiencing. The dynamic between Elwes and Whannell was palpable, and their performance together further heightened the intensity of the scenes. Director James Wan succeeded in creating a visually stunning environment in "SAW," using a dark and somber color palette that reflected the oppressive atmosphere of the plot. Skillfully executed special effects and cinematography helped intensify the most disturbing scenes, further immersing viewers in the film's twisted world.
"SAW" para ser una de las pocas películas que he visto de horror fue una película que me dejó impresionada al igual que dejó una marca en los amantes del horror. Sus escenas intensas y emocionantes, combinadas con un elenco de actores talentosos, la convirtieron en una película fascinante y aterradora. No es de extrañar que se haya convertido rápidamente en una favorita del género, dejando una influencia duradera en la industria cinematográfica del horror. Me pareció bastante buena y la trama me mantuvo pendiente de cada cosa que iba ocurriendo con los protagonistas, la sensación de que las cosas podrían ponerse cada vez peor me dió algo de miedo pero sin duda hubieron muchas escenas que me dejaron sorprendida por qué no me esperaba que esas cosas ocurrieron y mucho menos me esperaba ese final que le dió el toque para que la película terminara de una manera en que fuera recordada por mucho tiempo en los que la vimos. Realmente no recomiendo esta película a personas menores de edad o con cierta facilidad de sentirse sensibles a escenas de violencia y muerte gráfica, pero para los que son amantes del horror y que aún no la han visto se las recomiendo, se que no se arrepentirán.
"SAW" for one of the few horror films I have seen was a film that left an impression on me as well as a mark on horror lovers. Its intense and thrilling scenes combined with a cast of talented actors made it a riveting and terrifying film. No wonder it quickly became a genre favorite, leaving a lasting influence on the horror film industry. I thought it was pretty good and the plot kept me watching every single thing that was happening with the main characters, the feeling that things could get worse and worse gave me some fear but without a doubt there were many scenes that left me surprised because I did not expect those things to happen and much less I expected that ending that gave it the touch for the film to end in a way that would be remembered for a long time in those who saw it. I really do not recommend this movie to people under the age of 18 or with a certain facility to feel sensitive to scenes of violence and graphic death, but for those who are horror lovers and have not yet seen it, I recommend it, I know you will not regret it.

I remember seeing this in cinemas when it first came out. I knew nothing about it and this was more than 20 years ago. All I knew about it was that it had the Princess Bride's Westly in it and that it was made on a very small budget.
The theater was nearly empty and no one really seemed to care about it. Wow did that ever change in weeks two and three as it was just an absolute sensation. Aren't we up to 10 Saw films in total now?
@netflixr Yes, as far as I know the first movie that is this one caused a lot of sensation and that was directed by someone who was making his first movie. I still found the idea of the plot impressive and it kept me watching it until the end. I have seen quite a few of them and unfortunately a lot of them really aren't very good. They make money though and that is all that really matters in Hollywood.
