[ESP-ENG] Film Review: It Ends with Us | Patterns repeat themselves until you decide to break the circle.

Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, espero se encuentren bien el día de hoy. Ayer me ví la película de It Ends with Us basada en el libro del mismo nombre por la autora Colleen Hoover que había leído hace unos meses y que me gustó bastante a pesar de las críticas hacia él y hacia la escritora. Había algo que no me llamaba mucho la atención y eran los actores que escogieron para la historia, sobre todo después de todo el drama que sucedió con Blake Lively y la mala relación que tuvo con Justin Baldoni quien se encargó de la dirección de la película y también del papel de Ryle Kincaid uno de los personajes principales dentro de la película, pero obviando todo esto decidí que tenía que verla para saber que similitudes tendría con el libro.

Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are well today. Yesterday I saw the movie It Ends with Us based on the book of the same name by the author Colleen Hoover that I had read a few months ago and I liked it a lot despite the criticisms towards it and the writer. There was something that didn't call my attention and it was the actors they chose for the story, especially after all the drama that happened with Blake Lively and the bad relationship she had with Justin Baldoni who was in charge of directing the movie and also the role of Ryle Kincaid one of the main characters in the movie, but ignoring all this I decided that I had to see it to know what similarities it would have with the book.

La trama nos cuenta la historia de una mujer llamada Lily Bloom quién es una gran amante de las flores y que desea poder abrir su propia tienda y poder vivir de lo que más le apasiona. Cómo una simple casualidad conoce a Ryle en una noche donde ambos se sentían perdidos y tienen una conversación casual donde se cuentan cosas del otro y así conocemos que Ryle es un hombre de profesión Neurocirujano que al parecer esa noche perdió a uno de sus pacientes en una intervención cosa que le causó mucho dolor pero sobre todo rabia, se puede notar que Ryle tiene un carácter decidido que usa con la intención de conquistar a Lily y en unos meses despues de ese encuentro se vuelven a ver y empiezan a salir.

The plot tells the story of a woman named Lily Bloom who is a great lover of flowers and wants to open her own store and be able to live from what she loves the most. How a simple coincidence meets Ryle in a night where both felt lost and have a casual conversation where they tell each other things and so we know that Ryle is a man of profession Neurosurgeon who apparently that night lost one of his patients in an intervention which caused him much pain but above all anger, you can notice that Ryle has a determined character that uses with the intention of conquering Lily and in a few months after that meeting they meet again and start dating.

Ryle parece el hombre más encantador, siempre está atento a lo que Ryle necesita y también le menciona que nunca había sentido nada parecido con alguien como lo que siente por ella. Ambos tienen un comienzo en su relación lleno de momentos de pasión y de emociones que hacen parecer que está relación es la más perfecta pero las cosas no son siempre lo que parecen y Ryle empieza a mostrar el lado más oscuro que tiene donde en dos ocasiones golpea a Lily pero todo se muestra como si hubiera sido un accidente y es ahí dónde Lily trata de no revivir el pasado recordando la relación de sus padres, dónde el papá de Lily golpeaba a su madre y ella vivía en todo este mundo de terror porque su padre se comportaba como el hombre ejemplar frente a las demas personas pero cuando llegaba a casa era otro, un torturador para la madre de Lily y para Lily.

Ryle seems like the most charming man, he is always attentive to what Ryle needs and also mentions to her that he has never felt anything like that with anyone like he feels for her. Both have a beginning in their relationship full of moments of passion and emotions that make it seem that this relationship is the most perfect but things are not always what they seem and Ryle starts to show the darkest side he has where on two occasions he hits Lily but everything is shown as if it had been an accident and that is where Lily tries not to relive the past remembering her parents' relationship, where Lily's father beat her mother and she lived in this whole world of terror because her father behaved like the exemplary man in front of other people but when he came home he was another one, a torturer for Lily's mother and for Lily.

En medio de toda esta horrible situación que vivía Lily en casa, conoce a un joven quien se queda en una vivienda deshabilitada frente a su casa y se da cuenta de que va a su misma escuela, muestra interés en saber por qué está viviendo en esa situación dónde muchas veces no tiene como asearse o alimentarse, pero poco a poco Lily se va ganando la confianza de este joven y le cuenta que se llama Atlas Corrigan que vive en ese lugar porque su madre lo corrió de la casa por tratar de defenderla de las parejas que abusaban físicamente de ella y que ahora no tiene a nadie con quien contar. Pronto se forma una amistad entre ellos que termina en tardes dónde Lily invita a Atlas a pasar el rato en su casa hasta que terminan enamorándose y un día el papá de Lily los descubre y le da una paliza a Atlas, desde ese momento no pudieron seguir viéndose y Lily continúo con su vida en la ciudad de Boston y poder conseguir sus sueños.

In the midst of all this horrible situation that Lily lived at home, she meets a young man who stays in a disabled housing in front of her house and realizes that he goes to the same school, she shows interest in knowing why she is living in that situation where she often has no way to clean or feed herself, but little by little Lily is gaining the trust of this young man and tells him that his name is Atlas Corrigan who lives in that place because his mother threw him out of the house for trying to defend her from the couples who physically abused her and now she has no one to count on. Soon a friendship is formed between them that ends in evenings where Lily invites Atlas to hang out at her house until they end up falling in love and one day Lily's father discovers them and gives Atlas a beating, from that moment they could not continue to see each other and Lily continued with her life in the city of Boston and to achieve her dreams.

La película es bastante larga, tiene una duración de dos horas y creo que fue necesario para poder contar de la mejor manera la historia de Lily Bloom, dónde vemos cómo después de vivir en su propio hogar un infierno por el maltrato de su padre hacia su madre tiene que seguir con su vida cargando con este miedo de manera inconsciente y que termina atrayendo a Ryle un hombre parecido a su padre, que tiene un fuerte problema de ira y de perder el control lastimando fisica y verbalmente a Lily múltiples veces que en la película al comienzo lo muestran como si hubiera sido todo un accidente pero luego vuelven los recuerdos a la mente de Lily y se da cuenta de el abuso que esta permitiendo que haga Ryle con su vida.

The film is quite long, it has a duration of two hours and I think it was necessary to be able to tell the story of Lily Bloom in the best way, where we see how after living in her own home a hell for the abuse of his father to his mother has to go on with his life carrying this fear unconsciously and ends up attracting Ryle a man like his father, who has a strong problem of anger and losing control physically and verbally hurting Lily multiple times that in the film at the beginning they show it as if it was all an accident but then the memories come back to Lily's mind and she realizes the abuse she is allowing Ryle to do with her life.

El tema principal es la violencia de género y el como muchas veces las mujeres por amor o idealización de la pareja permiten este tipo de abusos, además de que también mencionan el trauma tanto de Lily quien vio en su propio hogar la violencia y la denigración hacia su madre y quien ahora está repitiendo el mismo patrón en su relación permitiendo que las cosas parezcan menos importantes de lo que realmente son. También podemos ver superficialmente el trauma que vivió el personaje de Ryle en su infancia y que lo marcó para siempre, aunque puede ser un motivo por el que su comportamiento sea de esa manera, no justifica que dañe y abuse de Lily como lo hizo. También el personaje de Atlas vuelve a aparecer y complica más las cosas entre Ryle y Lily, haciendo que Ryle sienta celos del que fue el primer amor de Lily y demostrando su peor versión.

The main theme is gender violence and how many times women for love or idealization of the couple allow this type of abuse, plus they also mention the trauma of both Lily who saw in her own home the violence and denigration towards her mother and who is now repeating the same pattern in her relationship allowing things to seem less important than they really are. We can also superficially see the trauma that Ryle's character experienced in his childhood and that marked him forever, although it may be a reason why his behavior is that way, it does not justify him harming and abusing Lily as he did. Also the character of Atlas reappears and further complicates things between Ryle and Lily, making Ryle feel jealous of the one who was Lily's first love and showing his worst version.

Esta claro que la historia que escribió Hoover es una historia de dolor pero a la vez de fortaleza sobre la protagonista tratando de romper el círculo de está relación tóxica y del maltrato que tuvo que ver desde muy joven y luego sufrirlo en persona, puede que no sea el mejor libro y que tal vez el tema le faltó más profundidad a la hora de hablar de los abusos entre las relaciones de pareja y la violencia tanto física como psicológicamente, pero es una muestra de que estás cosas suceden más seguido y que hay muchas mujeres y hombres que tambien pasan por esto y que no saben como romper el círculo porque piensan que esta bien lo que pasa porque su pareja luego de agredirlos les dice que es lo más importante en su vida, haciendo que en la mente de la victima sea dificil el aceptar que existe un problema y que debe buscar ayuda antes de que sea demasiado tarde, en el caso de Lily tuvo la suerte de tener el apoyo de Atlas en todo momento y quien siempre estuvo cerca por si algo sucedia haciéndole saber que merecía algo mejor que eso que estaba viviendo.

It is clear that the story that Hoover wrote is a story of pain but at the same time of strength about the protagonist trying to break the circle of this toxic relationship and the abuse that she had to see from a very young age and then suffer it in person, it may not be the best book and perhaps the subject lacked more depth when talking about the abuse between relationships and violence both physically and psychologically, but it shows that these things happen more often and that there are many women and men who also go through this and do not know how to break the circle because they think it's okay what happens because their partner after assaulting them tells them that it is the most important thing in their life, making it difficult in the victim's mind to accept that there is a problem and that she should seek help before it is too late, in Lily's case she was lucky to have the support of Atlas at all times and who was always close by in case something happened letting her know that she deserved something better than what she was living.

La película me gustó aunque hubiera preferido que otra actriz hiciera el papel de Lily pero no quedó tan mal, a pesar de que hubieron cosas que no salieron y que fueron parte del libro siento que mostraron de una buena manera lo que es sufrir de abusos en una relación y como de manera inconsciente terminas atrayendo lo que has vivido en tu propio hogar como en el caso de Lily, el personaje de Riley estuvo muy bien realizado por el actor Justin Baldoni quien ademas fuera de la actuacion aboga por este tipo de causas como la violencia de género y siento que tuvo las herramientas necesarias para hacer lo mejor en su actuación como Ryle. El papel de Atlas también estuvo bien sobre todo porque desde la versión más joven hasta la adulta demostró que era un hombre que respetaba a Lily en sus decisiones y que nunca intento obligarla a hacer algo que no quisiera, siempre estuvo en los momentos más importantes y por esto se ganó el corazón de Lily y de todos los que leímos el libro.

I liked the movie although I would have preferred another actress to play the role of Lily but it was not too bad, although there were things that did not come out and that were part of the book I feel that it showed in a good way what it is like to suffer abuse in a relationship and how unconsciously you end up attracting what you have lived in your own home as in the case of Lily, The character of Riley was very well done by the actor Justin Baldoni who also outside of acting advocates for this type of causes such as gender violence and I feel he had the necessary tools to do his best in his performance as Ryle. The role of Atlas was also good especially because from the youngest to the adult version he showed that he was a man who respected Lily in her decisions and never tried to force her to do something she didn't want to do, he was always there in the most important moments and for this he won the heart of Lily and all of us who read the book.

Espero puedan ver está historia y si pueden leer el libro también les recomiendo que lo hicieran para que entendieran mejor la historia y puedan entender del por qué Lily repitió la historia de su madre y cómo muchas veces estamos dentro de círculos que parecen interminables pero que con la ayuda necesaria se puede salir de este tipo de relaciones y poder seguir adelante, por qué siempre hay algo mejor y que los que han tenido que vivir lo que vivió Lily puedan encontrar esa seguridad y amor propio que tanto se necesita en estos casos. Pueden encontrar la película en Prime Video y en los cines de sus países, no sé si sea tan facil de encontrar porque está muy reciente de haber sido estrenada pero espero le puedan dar una oportunidad 🤗

I hope you can see this story and if you can read the book I also recommend you to do it so you can understand better the story and why Lily repeated the story of her mother and how many times we are in circles that seem endless but with the necessary help you can get out of this kind of relationships and move forward, because there is always something better and that those who have had to live what Lily lived can find that security and self-esteem that is so needed in these cases.
