Those who watch Bollywood movies know that Bollywood movies are getting worse day by day. Many hyped movies are not able to attract the audience. Many superstars' movies are also flopping. Again there are many movies which are not on hype, many superstars are not cast, low budget but they are becoming hits. Everyone now wants to see some different stories. For example, a movie that has been the talk of the town ever since its release. The name of the movie is Laapataa Ladies. The movie was released on 1st March. The movie currently has an IMDB rating of 8.5/10. Seeing the hype of the movie, I sat and watched the movie today. The run time of the movie is 2 hours 4 minutes. It is a comedy and drama type movie.

“Kiran Rao, known for his directorial debut 'Dhobi Ghat', returns to directing after 14 years with 'Lapata Ladies' 2. Her storytelling is light-hearted and filled with delightful moments, using humor and hidden identities to reflect on deep-seated patriarchy and its reactions.

The film has a great cast, especially the newcomers - Prash Srivastava, Nitanshi Goel and Pratibha Ranta. Their endearing portrayals and genuine chemistry make you really invested in the character's journey. The supporting cast, including Ravi Kishan, in a scene as an investigating officer, adds another layer of brilliance.

The story of the movie is very simple. In the movie, a boy named Deepak marries a girl named Phool in a remote village in Bihar, India and returns home by train. There were 2 other married couples in the same compartment of the train. But unfortunately when Deepak gets off the train he comes home with another man's bride named Jaya. Meanwhile Phool wakes up to find her husband gone. He came to another station with another person. Then the story continues forward. Various things happen here. Deepak takes the help of the police to find Phool. A girl named Jaya has a different story here. The Phool girl stays with a woman at another station and does various jobs there. Finally Deepak and Phool meet and Jaya goes to fulfill her dream. What I said sums up the movie.

There are many different stories, the story of Deepak and Jaya, the story of Phool and the woman at the station, the story of a bribe-taking cop. You don't have to think anything not to see it. Very simple. There are no bloody fight scenes, no sexual scenes, no abuse, no overacting.

Lapata Ladies is a must watch for anyone looking for heartwarming comedy with a social bite. This is a film that will make you laugh, think and even question some social norms. However, this story is told in 2001. Which may seem illegal in 2024. But it shows the real picture of the society.
