Weekly Recommendations from Namiks!

Oh boy, it's another week. And I'm a little late with this one. I took a sleeper train from Yerevan to Tbilisi. A ten hour trip that held no Internet connection and barely functional air conditioning. The train ran through the mountains, dense forestry untouched by man sat on their sides. Large rock formations, caves, and rivers of intense destruction were seen from the window. My ability to watch much else over the past two weeks has been almost impossible. Though here and there I have been attempting to watch some things to wind down. Trying to find some fun shows or films to check out briefly as the tiredness would hit from the chaotic, fast-paced life of Airbnbs and apartment searching. But don't worry, I didn't forget about you and the recommendations. So let's dive into some of those!

1. House Broken

This is a film that I'd describe as the equally silly cousin of the 2009 hit film Step Brothers. Two brothers abandoned by their father and told to figure out their lives or the power goes off at home, and the food supply ends. Somehow they figure things out, mixed with plenty of typical 'MTV' style humour and general idiocy. A fun laugh full of what I'd refer to as "dude humour".

2. Network

Network (1976) (1080p BluRay x265 afm72)-0002.png

We all know by now that the media is not our friend. It's an entity that thrives on spreading the fear and suffering of the world to those comfortable and content at home, who are also somewhat thrilled by the idea of finding something to get emotional over. We grow complacent and tired as a result, almost machines that consume and feel as we are told to feel, act as we are told to act. Network came out in the 70s, yet it's more relatable than ever with the spread of information at our fingertips. A terrifying story on our loss of humanity through the television.

3. A Quiet Place: Part 2

Now this is one I've been on the fence about quite a bit. It's not a bad film, but it's one that exists purely to create a sequel to something that didn't necessarily need one. Though it holds some great filmmaking, and is a flick you could put on without paying too much attention to in the evening, assuming you have seen the first title. Nothing too special, but nothing terrible either.

4. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

Probably the least offensive thing Netflix has thrown out in a while. This is a sequel to a franchise that was considered dead for the most part, with a failed spin-off television show, and Eddie Murphy reaching the youthful age of what I'd assume is 413. It's your typical reboot narrative, but one with some fun laughs and a bit of action. It's not all that bad, just don't expect anything major from it.

Well, that's it for this week! A few things here and there, but a busy time for me in which I just haven't had the time to really watch things. Hopefully once I settle down into the new apartment things will return to normal a little. But these recommendation posts aren't going anywhere! Have a good week, everyone!

A quiet place call my attention 😀

The new one is coming out soon!

'A Quiet Place: Day One'. Not the same director though, so I'm curious.

Axel F made me laugh and brought back the spirit of the original movies :) I was really happy about that one!

Yeah it really did have some of that charm that his character had in the first few titles. I was glad to see that. I was sceptical about Murphy, but I think he still has it with that performance. It didn't feel too much like the typical passing of the torch type of film.

Thank you very much for the recommendation, House Broken caught my attention, let's see how these brothers did.

Watched 'A quiet place part 2', wondered why they made it too.
Truly it wasn't bad but I wasn't over impressed 😂.

Haven't seen any of the other shows you've dropped.
I'll check em out.

Yeah it really doesn't need to exist. And now they're turning it into a franchise for some reason.
