Probablemente esta sea una de las películas más difíciles de analizar, pues volviéndola a ver, la verdad lo único que puede concluir es que en este mundo hay dos clases de personas, hombres y mujeres, tal cual dice el mismo Tom. Muchos buscan siempre el malvado de la película, y realmente ambos tienen bastantes cosas a favor para ser encasillados allí, pues la idealización de Tom le tapó los ojos, mientras que Summer sólo jugó su juego, sin importarle más que ella.

La dirección de la cinta por parte de Marc Webb fue excelente, mezclando escenas del pasado con el presente, permite un desarrollo adecuado de la historia, pues finalmente, vemos es la historia desde el punto de vista de Tom, idealización cada recuerdo, para finalmente entregarnos esos recuerdos más amargos, que nos muestran un fragmento de la realidad, y como el mismo protagonista fue el que no quiso comprender la realidad, al pensar que estaba con el amor de su vida.
