𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒀𝒆𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝑰𝒏 "The Tale Of Nokdu" - Series Review

You know those familiar storylines but somehow you get surprised by how it is acted out in the movie... I came across this series, read it's short storyline and was like, that's predictable because of the part where a guy disguises as a lady to execute a mission. It's an interesting feature in a storyline for me anytime so I still decided to see it.

I've seen a lot of kdrama series where a lady disguises a guy and somehow falls for a guy who thinks they are falling for a fellow man until the secret is revealed, that is the usual storyline until I saw this series about a guy disguising as a lady... The Tale Of Nokdu.

This historical Korean series was released in 2019 and it's actually surprising I didn't get any recommendation about it until a week ago, it's a really unique storyline that should have trend at the time of release, maybe it did since I'm only finding out about it now. Most of the characters are new to me but they did really well in their various roles to get searching more from them.

What's unique about this series storyline? A family got attacked by masked swords women, Nokdu decides to find out who is after his family and in order to do that, he has to disguise as a widow to enter into a village filled with widows. There he meets a girl who disguises as a guy but is also being trained to become a gisaeng.

The series also shows a palace where a king killed his son years back after hearing a prophecy that his son would take the throne from him, a guy who has his eyes on the throne and is planning a revolt. A villain that is hard to hate as usual.

It's unique that a guy is disguising as a lady, it's shockingly refreshing that a father tries to kill his own son for a throne another must succeed. The scenes around all this is thrilling as I've said but a lot of encounters seem predictable.

The title is perfect especially the with name Nokdu which is the male lead's name because he was literally in every scene whether he is present or he is being talked about lol. I'm surprised I haven't seen any other series of him before, talk of a character that's just perfect for the disguise role, he looks so much like a lady lol. I'm sure you'd agree with me if you decide to see the series.

I like the constant lessons the series taught about being totally loyal, trusting and what it means to be betrayed. The romance aspect of the series wasn't as much as I expected but not so bad as it isn't the focus of the storyline. I'm familiar with female lead and her role in this series seem very unfamiliar and that made it a good watch for me.

A child character had me laughing a lot in this series, right from the beginning. I won't say much about her, you'll be fascinated when check out the series. There are other interesting characters that made it worth my watch though but I can't start writing on each of them.
