"Secretly Greatly", "Killing Romance" - Korean Movies Review
I've seen way too many movies and series, all Korean, in a short while that I couldn't decide easily to review and recommend. But today, I felt the need to share my view on a once popular short Korean movie and one other I've had in my downloaded list for almost a year now. While one wasn't so satisfying to watch at the end, the other made me feel like I was wasting my time on it.
I try not to have my expectations too high when I decide to see a Korean short movie as I feel they could either bring in their best or their worst since it's only for an hour or two. The expectation level reduced drastically after I saw one that had me very annoyed for seeing it at all. But all together, I've seen more interesting short movies.
"Secretly Greatly" has been there on my movie list for more than a year and I can still remember the reason I had it downloaded, a scene from "Crash Landing On You" was a scene of it and I got curious to know about the movie itself. I downloaded it with high expectations and that influenced the manner I used to see the movie.
I saw the first few scenes and paused until after half a year to continue and finish it to the end, it was a very weird way to see a 2hr+ movie but I just couldn't help it. With "Kim Soo-Hyun" starred in it, I thought I was in for something worthwhile but that thought died in the first few scenes and I just completed it to get it out of my list.
It is about three agents sent to go undercover and later ordered to take their own lives, it was interesting to see how well they played their cover stories very well especially Kim Soo-hyun and I love the comedy, the twists but definitely not the ending but it was kinda expected and that's it, the movie wasn't worthwhile for me.
If you want some action, comedy and unexpected twists, you will find this short movie a good one but don't expect too much. I think I get the focus of the storyline and the message it is trying to send, that kinda makes my time on it worth it. I'll recommend it to you with my own rating of 7/10.
Killing Romance
I still don't get why I actually let myself see this movie "Killing Romance" from the start to finish even with the way I kept asking myself "What am I watching like this?" lol. The movie went from unrealistic to more unrealistic but I kept watching till the end, so I guess I could say, it still had me hooked with it's unrealistic storyline and scenes.
It's a musical movie considering the fact that they sang a lot of songs in it, although some were repeated and I actually have a favourite from all the songs sang. It's crazy, I enjoyed my time on it even though I kept getting surprised at myself for not stopping it half way because of some silly scenes lol. Talk of a light hearted story movie.
The movie is about a lady who got mocked for her acting skills, quits to get married to a wealthy man and the marriage turns out to be a prison for her. She meets a neighbor who is a huge fan of her during her star days and they both try to end the life of her husband to gain her freedom back. This didn't go well for them until the very end.
I honestly won't recommend this movie to anyone but for someone who wanted something very short away from long series or being bored, it was a good enough watch, I enjoyed the comedy, the unrealistic animal communication, the role of the husband to our female lead, all that got me laughing and mocking them for acting this kind of movie at all. I'll rate it 6/10 but it's not so bad.
I almost lost interest in watching movies when I started watching dramas. I feel movies are too short and finish early, which can't satisfy me now. I almost forgot when I last watched a movie. So, I am sure I won't see any of the movies here as you are also not satisfied with them.
Yeah, dramas make the stories fuller and more enjoyable, I must say. But I always like the short movie breaks I take.
