At A Distance, Spring Is Green: Korean Series Review
What to write today? Why not go the easy way instead of fighting writer's block? Lol. I thought to myself and here I am with a review of a series I saw recently that caught my attention from start to finish. I've had it in my watch list for weeks until I decided two days ago to download and watch it because of one reason... Just 12 episodes.
I got the recommendation randomly from a YouTube short I watched and I've kept it there until I finally saw, now I wish I had seen it much early than I did. First off, the title is perfect and it's a good one to binge watch for family and weekend rest time.
"At A Distance, Spring Is Green" is a 2021 released Korean series with the genre focused on "Coming of age" and romance. The series is starred by Kang Min-ah, the singer and actor Park Ji-hoon from "Love Song For Illusion" and Bae In-hyuk from "The Story Of Park's Marriage Contract".
Showing the lives of these three university students whose lives are more than what they seem to those around, as they struggle to be the youth that the world forces them to be, the series gives a good exploration of real life struggles, family problems and responsibilities people have to bear in life.
Yeo Jun is handsome, rich and popular in school, he has so many friends but only the kind that are there for his money and fame. Kim So-bin is an average student struggling to make good credits before she graduates, she is naive and beautiful. Nam Soo Hyun is great with his studies but does all kind of part-time work to take care of his family.
The rich and handsome Yeo Jun, tries all he can to become friends with Nam Soo Hyun as he seem cool and intriguing to him but with the constant rejection from him, Yeo Jun gets more intentional to make him his friend. In the midst of this, he meets and started to fall for Kim So-bin who has a long time crush on her childhood friend.
After tossing about with each other feelings and learning more about each other, they become friends and the dark side of their lives begin to surface. Yeo Jun has a sad story and the series takes through his relationship with his family and how hard things are for him even with the riches.
Nam Soo Hyun was able to open up and things didn't get easy for him but he could live his life while struggling for his mom and younger brother. Kim So-bin found happiness in the little things and was able to do something significant in her university days. But will there be a happy ending for all of them? You'll have to find out yourself.
I love the setting, the fashion and storyline of this series. The storyline is unique and full of lessons for people my age as it's about the life of youths. I also like the aspect of a guy trying to be friends with another guy because he has seen the positives of being friends with a person like him. Choosing one's own friend is one of the many things only few know how to.
I can't get the OST in the series out of my head, I had it downloaded immediately I was done with the series. It's a beautiful duet song played perfectly into the scenes, it kept viewers feeling good all through. It's a series you'll enjoy, I'll rate it 8/10.
