The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
The movie I want to post about is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - it is not so famous but it does have an uncommon story and storytelling style.
The movie stars Ben Stiller-who also directed it-and tells the story of Walter Mitty, the very ordinary man who leads a terribly boring life far away from adventure. All that he has is a broad imagination. Once in a while, he dreams of things out of the ordinary, he dreams of his life if it were different and full of adventures. As the story starts to come together, he recognizes that life is never only about dreaming; it's about daring himself to really go out and have an adventure.
Ben Stiller's portrayal, however, came as quite a surprise; for in this film he departed from his usual comedic self and instead brought forth depth in a new character. Just a series of breathtaking images extends to how you view your life-they teach you that you should not merely live in your dreams but also get out and try things and take on challenges.
The best thing about this movie, to my mind, is that the whole story has such deep messages about life and self-discovery. Essentially, at the end, you feel that nothing is impossible if you have the courage to change your life. If you like movies with messages, hope, and stories, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty will awaken something in you.
