I must confess that I see very few Spanish productions. I can't tell you why (even though there are excellent recommendations of this type), but they have not been my favorite when choosing what to watch. I love watching series and movies, it is one of my favorite pastimes and, from time to time, I review how I found them.
Netflix is my number one platform of choice, for its variety and quality on the visual side. Browsing through the suggestions, I came across a movie that I had read was going to be released soon and, perhaps, because of the nostalgia it revisits from a very nice time in my life and in the lives of many my age, I was encouraged to watch it as soon as I saw it in the catalog.
Debo confesar que veo muy pocas producciones españolas. No sabría decirles el porqué (y aun cuando hay excelentes recomendaciones de este tipo), pero no han sido de mis favoritas a la hora de escoger que voy a ver. Me encanta ver series y películas, de hecho, es uno de mis pasatiempos favoritos y, de vez en cuando, reseñar por aquí como me parecieron.
Netflix es mi plataforma de elección número uno, por su variedad y la calidad en la parte visual. Navegando por las sugerencias, me encontré con una película que había leído que iba a ser estrenada pronto y, quizás, por la nostalgia que reviste de un tiempo muy bonito en mi vida y en la de muchos de mi edad, me animé a verla en lo que la vi en el catálogo.
This is the film inspired by the lives and careers of the musical group Locomía. A Spanish group that was very popular in the late eighties and early nineties, and with whom we danced in many nights of Disco and Youth. Today, you can still listen to their songs on some popular social networks like TikTok, as part of the challenges and dynamics of the same, which, take you to the evocation of that beautiful time as will always be the memories of youth.
This production is dated May 2024. The film recreates the origins of this group, walking through its beginnings (difficult as almost all of this type) and the friendship that arises between a group of people, who are at times rejected and seek to emerge by their efforts, from the feeling of friendship.
As in every musical career, there is a discoverer who leads them to fame and, on that road, they all experience complicated situations and emotions, from the fact of the rise of fame to the head, by the success, as the failure of others who, at times do not fit into that success because they did not have the talent that was needed for it.
Se trata del film inspirado en las vidas y carrera del Grupo musical Locomía. Un grupo español que fue muy popular a finales de los años ochenta y principio de los noventa, y con el que bailamos en muchas noches de Disco y Juventud. Hoy día, aún se pueden escuchar sus canciones en algunas redes sociales populares como TikTok, como parte de retos y dinámicas propias de las mismas, las cuales, te llevan a la evocación de ese tiempo bonito como siempre serán los recuerdos de la juventud.
Esta producción es de Mayo del 2024. La película recrea los orígenes de este grupo, paseándose por sus comienzos (difíciles como casi todos los de este tipo) y la amistad que surge entre un grupo de personas, quienes son en momentos rechazados y que buscan surgir por su propio esfuerzo, desde el sentimiento de la amistad.
Cómo en toda carrera musical, hay un descubridor que los lleva a la fama y, en ese camino, todos experimentan situaciones y emociones complicadas, desde el hecho de la subida de la fama a la cabeza, por el éxito, como el fracaso de otros que, en momentos no encajan en dicho éxito porque no tenían realmente el talento que se necesitaba para ello.
The main character, creator of the group, Xavi Font, played by Javier Lorente (from La Casa de Papel), is excellent in his interpretation. As well as the rest of the actors, I must emphasize, I liked the fact that they were chosen with a lot of physical similarities to the original members of the group.
Many went through emotional crises due to the criticism of their sexual orientation, as well as the unrestrained nature of a world that is sometimes difficult to control, such as that of show business. There between excesses and arrogance of believing themselves better, there was affectation of that initial union when they began to walk the difficult road to fame.
And I say difficult because it is the challenge of facing so many things that can divert you from your essence and the goal you want to achieve. A world where they got both flatterers and detractors.
El personaje principal, creador del grupo, Xavi Font, interpretado por Javier Lorente (de La casa de papel), excelente en su interpretación. Al igual que el resto de los actores que, debo resaltar, me gustó el hecho de que los escogieron con mucha similitud física a los integrantes originales del grupo.
Muchos atravesaron crisis emocionales por las críticas tanto de su orientación sexual, como el desenfreno de un mundo que a veces es difícil de controlar, como es el del espectáculo. Allí entre excesos y arrogancia de creerse mejores, hubo afectación de esa unión inicial cuando comenzaron a transitar el difícil camino hacia la fama.
Y digo difícil porque es el reto de enfrentarte a tantas cosas que pueden desviarte de tu esencia y la meta que deseas alcanzar. Un mundo donde consiguieron tanto aduladores, como detractores.
The scenery and costumes, appropriate for the time in which the film takes place, recreate beautifully the fashion and atmosphere of the eighties and nineties. I liked how they approached the story because they did it as it was the trajectory of this group.
I enjoyed the songs and the fans hahaha which are an icon of identification of this group. Nobody did or does it like them (the dancing with the fans) and the catchy and popular melody.
I found it a light and pleasant film, especially the fact that it evoked an era that was beautiful for me and many others. I highlight the message of the value of group friendship, which prevails at the end of everything lived and makes it worthwhile that knowing how to live life as we want, doing what makes us happy, is the most important thing.

Los escenarios y vestimentas, adecuados para el tiempo en que se realiza el filme, pues, recrean estupendamente, la moda y ambiente de los años ochenta y noventa. Me gustó como enfocaron la historia, pues lo hicieron tal cual fue la trayectoria de este grupo.
De verdad me agradó mucho volver a disfrutar las canciones y los abanicos jajaja los cuales son un icono de identificación de este grupo. Nadie lo hacía ni hace como ellos (el baile con los abanicos) y la melodía pegajosa y popular.
Me pareció un film ligero y agradable, sobre todo por el hecho de evocación de una época que fue bonita para mí y para muchos. Resalto el mensaje del valor de la amistad grupal, el cual prevalece al final de todo lo vivido y hace que valga la pena que saber vivir la vida como queramos, haciendo aquello que nos haga realmente felices, es lo más importante.

A mí me pasa igual con las series o películas españolas, no soy muy fans de ellas, pero no se puede negar que últimamente han salido algunas buenas, yo ame la casa de papel, una de mis series favoritas., no he visto esta película pero quizás me anime a verla con mi mamá, gracias por compartir su opinión sobre esta película, saludos.
Si, a mi tampoco me llaman mucho la atención, pero esta sí, por la temática de los años 80 y 99 y los recuerdos de baile y noches de Disco con esas canciones. The truth is, I never like to give spoilers in my reviews. I try, as much as possible, to capture the essence and what the film or series left me. I speak in general terms about the details and the central theme but, mainly, my experience watching it.
This film, even though the Spanish productions are not my favorites, I loved watching it because it also brought back memories of a beautiful time in my life, such as the 80s and 90s, times of youth with which we danced to their music.
