Looking for a film that met the requirements of the contest I came across this film called El Hijo (The Son), a real life film that had such an impact on me because I met a person who is living this harsh reality.

It is about a marriage where the wife is from another nation, where a neighbor, according to her words, denounces the mother for abuse because she observed her dragging her seven year old son through the street and that is very serious in that nation. Immediately the police arrive and take the child under the protection of the state to an orphanage, while the investigations are carried out.

However, the imposition of extremely strict rules required of the parents when visiting their child borders on the absurd. Such a cold and indifferent treatment of the children as if they were not people, bringing to light economic interests that generate so much money that only a small percentage of four percent of children are returned to their parents.

The father of the child is in the middle of the campaign for the parliamentary elections which adds more pressure to the point that he falls into a kind of conspiracy between his lawyer and the director of the campaign where the latter tells him that he should get a divorce making him believe that this would be the way to recover his son, further aggravating the anguish of his wife who must deal with the fact of not having her child, a real change in the lives of the characters.

One of those moments when the adrenaline kicks in is when the mother agrees to use the services of an organization to help her use illegal means to get the child out of the country, using disguises of nuns, achieving the goal, demonstrating once again what a real mother is capable of for her children. The actors are not as well known as the big celebrities; but they give an exciting performance giving the plot the essence it needs to hook the viewer.
