Saludos y bienvenidos a mi blog. El día de hoy quiero hablarles sobre una película que se estrenó este mes en Prime Video y que ya está en el top de las más vistas en Estados Unidos. Se trata de un filme de terror protagonizado por Kiernan Shipka y, aunque tiene todos los elementos típicos del Slasher cuenta con viajes en el tiempo.
Greetings and welcome to my blog. Today I want to talk to you about a movie that premiered this month on Prime Video and is already in the top of the most watched movies in the United States. It is a horror film starring Kiernan Shipka and, although it has all the typical Slasher elements, it has time travel.
De este tipo de películas no se puede esperar mucho más que un momento de entretenimiento en familia, quizá, y los 99 minutos que dura son más que suficientes para lograr esto con sus escenas de “miedo” y su toque de comedia.
From this type of film you can't expect much more than a moment of family entertainment, perhaps, and the 99-minute running time is more than enough to accomplish this with its "scary" scenes and touch of comedy.
¿De qué trata? 🎃 what it is about?
Jamie es una adolescente que ha vivido toda su vida bajo la sobreprotección de su madre, esto porque todas sus amigas, en el pasado, fueron asesinadas por un psicópata enmascarado. La muchacha no entiende por qué su madre reacciona de ese modo hasta que se convierte en la próxima víctima, reiniciando así la cadena de asesinatos que empezó 35 años atrás.
Jamie is a teenager who has lived her whole life under her mother's overprotection, because all her friends were killed by a masked psychopath in the past. The girl does not understand why her mother reacts that way until she becomes the next victim, thus restarting the chain of murders that began 35 years ago.
Cuando por un accidente viaja en el tiempo, justo al año donde empezaron los crímenes, Jamie ve su oportunidad de descubrir la identidad de este asesino y detenerlo para de este modo salvar a su madre. ¿Podrá lograrlo?
When he accidentally travels back in time to the year where the crimes began, Jamie sees his chance to discover the identity of this murderer and stop him to save his mother. Will he be able to do it?

En su elenco podemos encontrar a actores súper jóvenes como Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Charlie Gillespie, Liana Liberato entre muchos otros que si menciono acá se haría gigante esta lista, y otros no tan jóvenes pero conocidos como lo es Lochlyn Munro, que mi hermano juraba iba a terminar siendo el malo simplemente porque en varias películas lo es.
In its cast we can find super young actors like Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Charlie Gillespie, Liana Liberato among many others that if I mention here this list would become gigantic, and others not so young but well known like Lochlyn Munro, who my brother swore was going to end up being the bad guy simply because in several movies he is.
Su corta duración (99 minutos) hace que resulte fácil y entretenida de ver, así que es una buena idea para este mes en el que el Halloween se hace presente.
Its short running time (99 minutes) makes it easy and entertaining to watch, so it's a good idea for this month when Halloween rolls around.
Mi opinión 🎃 My opinion
Este tipo de películas son de las que se inicia a ver sin expectativas, ya que sabemos que no van a revolucionar el género ni nada por el estilo. No es de sorprender que te encuentres, entonces, con los típicos personajes, la típica ambientación de Halloween, las típicas escenas de comedia y en cierto modo, la típica trama.
This kind of movies are the kind you start watching without expectations, since you know they are not going to revolutionize the genre or anything like that. It is not surprising that you will find, then, the typical characters, the typical Halloween setting, the typical comedy scenes and, in a way, the typical plot.
Lo divertido para mí de todo esto es tratar de descubrir quién es el asesino y sus motivaciones. Claro que en esta ocasión hay viajes en el tiempo que, aunque no te los tomas nada en serio, te diviertes un poco viendo cómo una adolescente del 2023 viaja a los años 80 donde todo es completamente diferente.
The fun for me in all of this is trying to figure out who the killer is and his motivations. Of course, this time there is time travel which, although you don't take it seriously at all, you have a bit of fun watching a teenage girl from 2023 travel back to the 1980s where everything is completely different.
Es un poco gracioso verla esperando que todo sea más burocrático y complejo de resolver y en cambio se encuentra con que todo es descuidado, ofensivo e insensible. Porque sí, hay una sutil crítica de todo lo que era aceptable en aquella época y que hoy en día ya no está bien visto.
It's kind of funny to see her expecting everything to be more bureaucratic and complex to resolve and instead she finds everything to be sloppy, offensive and insensitive. Because yes, there is a subtle critique of everything that was acceptable at the time and is no longer acceptable today.
Los más cinéfilos podrán encontrar referencias a unas cuantas películas, entre ellas destacan las ya reconocidas Volver al futuro o incluso Endgame. La verdad es que, al viajar en el tiempo, pensé que cualquier cosa podía pasar, que tenían cierto material para jugar un poco con el espectador con una trama un poco enrevesada y sorprenderlo, pero como que no pasó.
The most movie buffs will find references to a few movies, among them the already recognized Back to the future or even Endgame. The truth is that, when traveling in time, I thought that anything could happen, that they had some material to play a little with the viewer with a slightly convoluted plot and surprise him, but it didn't happen.
Tiene sus fallos argumentales, pero bueno, no vale la pena criticarlos, porque si una adolescente construye una máquina del tiempo como si nada, claramente va a tener ciertos errores, pero como no es la prioridad en sí de la película, resulta pasable.
It has its plot flaws, but well, it's not worth criticizing them, because if a teenage girl builds a time machine like that, it's clearly going to have certain errors, but since it's not the priority of the film itself, it's passable.
La encontré un poco más seriecita que otras películas, tal vez con todo esto de las críticas, y hasta algo optimista en cuanto al final (mi hermano dijo que parecía una película de Disney) pero estuvo bien. Cumplió su cometido de entretener, y por esta parte, llegó a agradarme. La protagonista también hizo un buen trabajo en ese papel de la chica valiente que quiere salvarlos a todos.
I found it a bit more serialized than other movies, maybe with all the reviews, and even a bit optimistic about the ending (my brother said it looked like a Disney movie) but it was okay. It did its job of entertaining, and for this part, I came to like it. The leading lady also did
a good job in the role of the brave girl who wants to save them all.

A mi me entretuvo, pero sé que pudo ser mejor, creo que lo referente al asesino y el viaje en el tiempo se puso desarrollar de mejor manera, todo se soluciona muy convenientemente, por ejemplo lo de las adolescentes que fabrican la máquina del tiempo; ahora no todo es malo porque hay un uso correcto a las reglas de películas de viajes en el tiempo y los asesinatos son muy buenos, son buenas escenas.
Si quiere ver un film muy parecido a este, le recomiendo The Final Girls, no es muy nueva, pero es mejor que está película.
Si, la verdad pido ser mejor, pero que se puede esperar de estas pelis. Ah, de esa escuché también que era como similar. La vere, saludos y gracias 💜
Parece una película interesante, saber que todas sus amigas fueron asesinadas debe ser horrible, terror y comedía, sí, le daré una oportunidad, en algún momento.

No, no es ese tipo de comedia, pero tiene escenas "comicas" solo que a un estilo muy... estadounidense. No vi Sabrina así que no la había visto antes pero sí hizo un buen papel. Me agradó. Si la ves, me dices qué te pareció, o bueno, capaz lea alguna publicación si la haces... Saludos :)
