Admito que soy demasiado miedosa y por el título de esta película no me había dado o oportunidad de verla, en especial porque siento que las películas de “terror” o suspenso con niños me da mucha ansiedad jajaja pero luego de ver un poco de que trataba si o si tenía que verla, así que hoy les cuento un poco de: A Monster Calls
Vemos cómo Conor, un niño de 12 años, tiene una extraña pesadilla en la sostiene a su madre en un risco y ella termina cayendo al vacío, Conor todas las mañanas se despierta y se atiende solo, es decir, de alista para ir al colegio, se hace el desayuno, es el encargado de la casa, ya que vemos que su mamá está bastante enferma, ella tiene cancer y se la vive agotada por un nuevo tratamiento, a demás que en su colegio sufre de abusos por sus compañeros y recibe burlas por la condición de su mamá.
Una noche mientras dibuja un “paisaje” como el de su pesadilla, a la misma hora que tiene las pesadillas, comienza a ver en frente de la ventana como desde ese árbol gigante se convierte en un monstruo y se comienza a acercar a Conor, el monstruo lo intenta asustar y le dice que ha venido por el, Conor parece no tener miedo, pero el monstruo le dice que volverá y le contará tres historias, luego de eso, Conor tendrá que contarle una historia, esta debe ser su verdad más profunda, eso que lo atormenta todas las noches.
Al día siguiente Conor tiene que lidiar con su abuela, este la verdad no esta feliz de que ella esté en la casa, él siente que puede ayudar a su madre el solo y que pronto mejorará, pero todo apunta a que la madre no va a mejorar y por eso en algún momento le tocará vivir solo con su abuela.
Esa noche viene el monstruo a contarle la primera historia, en la que nos enseña que no todo tiene un final feliz, que no todo lo que aparenta ser bueno lo es, ni todo lo que aparenta ser malo lo es, las personas somos una infinidad de pensamiento y acciones, que una sola no nos distingue como estamos acostumbrados a ver en otro tipo de historias.
Sus tres historias tienen el mismo transfondo, y aunque para Conor a veces es solo un sueño, causa que tenga algunas “malas actitudes” en la realidad, pero no suele ser castigado, ya que saben por lo que él está pasando, pero a su vez, él quiere ser castigado para de alguna forma ser reprendido por sus pensamientos más profundos y es que el monstruo aseguró venir a ayudarlo, pero eso no quiere decir que va a salvar a su mamá, sino a ayudarlo a soltarla sin sentir culpa y es que Conor desea que su madre deje de sufrir, prefiere verla morir que ver como sufre cada día, pero nada más de pensar y sentir esto, se castiga, piensa que es de lo peor por querer que si madre muera, cuando lo único que desea, es que deje de sufrir.
Él se sentía culpable por eso, quería ser castigado, pero nadie lo hacía, porque sabían que así no se solucionaba la situación que él pasaba, así que “monstruo” vino a ayudarlo a sanar y a hacerle entender todo lo que él está viviendo.
Esta película es preciosa, nunca me había dado la oportunidad de verla, pero si había visto muchos reviews, muchas reseñas que te dejaban llorando y es que si, amar también es dejar ir, amar tanto a alguien que prefieres que ya no esté a tu lado con tal y esa persona no sufra más, es el amor más puro y como los niños frente a esta situación sufren más porque no entienden eso que sienten, y es que si a uno le da impotencia no poder hacer nada, imagínate como se siente un niño, se que yo soy muy sensible con algunos temas, pero se que está película los hará llorar, si no la han visto, háganlo, verán todo desde otra perspectiva.

Conor wakes up every morning and takes care of himself, that is, getting ready to go to school. , he makes breakfast, he is in charge of the house, since we see that his mother is quite sick, she has cancer and is exhausted by a new treatment, in addition to the fact that at school he suffers abuse from his classmates and receives teasing about his mother's condition.
One night while drawing a “landscape” like the one in his nightmare, at the same time he has the nightmares, he begins to see in front of the window how from that giant tree he turns into a monster and begins to approach Conor, the The monster tries to scare him and tells him that he has come for him, Conor seems not to be afraid, but the monster tells him that he will come back and tell him three stories, after that, Conor will have to tell him a story, this must be his deepest truth , that which torments him every night.
The next day Conor has to deal with his grandmother, the truth is he is not happy that she is in the house, he feels that he can help his mother on his own and that she will soon get better, but everything indicates that the mother is not going to improve and that is why at some point he will have to live alone with his grandmother.
That night the monster comes to tell the first story, in which he teaches us that not everything has a happy ending, that not everything that appears to be good is, nor is everything that appears to be bad, people are infinite. of thought and actions, that one does not distinguish us as we are used to seeing in other types of stories.
Their three stories have the same background, and although for Conor sometimes it is just a dream, it causes him to have some “bad attitudes” in reality, but he is not usually punished, since they know what he is going through, but at the same time Maybe, he wants to be punished to somehow be reprimanded for his deepest thoughts and the monster claimed to come to help him, but that does not mean that he is going to save his mother, but rather to help him let go of her without feeling guilty and it is that Conor wants his mother to stop suffering, he prefers to see her die than to see how she suffers every day, but as soon as he thinks and feels this, he punishes himself, he thinks that he is the worst for wanting his mother to die, when all he wants is , is to stop suffering.
He felt guilty for that, he wanted to be punished, but no one did, because they knew that this would not solve the situation he was going through, so “monster” came to help him heal and make him understand everything he is experiencing.
This movie is beautiful, I had never had the opportunity to see it, but I had seen many reviews, many reviews that left you crying and yes, loving is also letting go, loving someone so much that you prefer that they are no longer around you. side with someone and that person does not suffer anymore, it is the purest love and how children in this situation suffer more because they do not understand what they feel, and if one feels helpless at not being able to do anything, imagine how it feels. a child, I know that I am very sensitive about some topics, but I know that this movie will make you cry, if you have not seen it, do so, you will see everything from another perspective.
