Creo que esta es la época del año perfecta para hablar de una de mis pelÃculas favoritas,El Cadáver de la Novia. Dirigida en el 2005 por el genio Tim Burton, se ha convertido en un clásico de la animación stop motion, con una historia rara y un tanto perturbadora digna de su director.
En este post les compartiré mi opinión sin spoilers de esta pelÃcula que definitivamente es una de mis favoritas
I think this is the perfect time of year to talk about one of my favorite movies, Corpse Bride. Directed in 2005 by the genius Tim Burton, it has become a classic of stop motion animation, with a strange and somewhat disturbing story worthy of its director.
In this post I will share my opinion without spoilers of this movie that is definitely one of my favorites
Sinopsis | Synopsis
Nos encontramos en una lúgubre ciudad en la época victoriana, donde está apunto de celebrarse una boda entre el joven Victor Van Dort y la joven Victoria Everglot. Pocos saben que éste es un matrimonio arreglado, pues la familia aristócrata Everglot está en bancarrota y solo pretenden aprovecharse del dinero de los nuevos ricos Van Dort.
Realmente esto les importa poco a Victor y Victoria porque ambos quedan perdidamente enamorados el uno del otro. Fue amor a primera vista. Se concreta la boda a pesar de todo y comienzan los preparativos. En los ensayos, Victor se pone demasiado nervioso, haciendo un desastre al momento de decir sus votos que realmente no se ha aprendido. El padre lo regaña fuertemente, diciéndole que no vuelva hasta que se los sepa de memoria.
Victor se aleja hacia un bosque donde recita los votos una y otra vez hasta finalmente decirlos correctamente. En un impulso, coloca el anillo en una «rama», simulando un dedo, pero lo que jamás imaginó era que realmente era un dedo, del cual emergió el cadáver de una mujer vestida de novia, quien además decÃa que ahora él era su esposo y vivirÃan juntos para la eternidad...
We find ourselves in a gloomy town in the Victorian era, where a wedding is about to take place between the young Victor Van Dort and the young Victoria Everglot. Few people know that this is an arranged marriage, since the aristocratic Everglot family is bankrupt and they only want to take advantage of the money of the newly rich Van Dorts.
This really matters very little to Victor and Victoria because they both fall madly in love with each other. It was love at first sight. The wedding takes place despite everything and preparations begin. During the rehearsals, Victor gets too nervous, making a mess when saying his vows that he hasn't really learned yet. The father scolds him strongly, telling him not to come back until he knows them by heart.
Victor walks away into a forest where he recites the vows over and over again until he finally says them correctly. On impulse, he placed the ring on a "branch" simulating a finger, but what he never imagined was that it was actually a finger, from which emerged the corpse of a woman dressed as a bride, who also said that he was now her husband and they would live together for eternity...
Un cadáver que de repente le dice a un hombre vivo que ahora es su esposo probablemente sea algo que solo Tim Burton pudiera escribir. Me encanta la trama extraña y perturbadora porque está tan bien narrada que lejos de dar miedo, genera mucha curiosidad. Durante toda la pelÃcula solo te preguntas qué le pasó a Emily, qué será de Victor y Victoria, y cómo terminará todo.
Además hacen un excelente trabajo en hacerte empatizar con los personajes, puesto que entiendes las motivaciones de cada uno, sus angustias y anhelos, sus deseos y acciones. Está escrita para ser bastante sentimental, lo logra perfectamente. En mi caso, quien más sentimientos despertó en mi fue Emily, con quien empaticé bastante puesto que su historia es bastante trágica.
A corpse suddenly telling a living man that he is now her husband is probably something only Tim Burton could write. I love the strange and disturbing plot because it is so well narrated that far from being scary, it generates a lot of curiosity. Throughout the movie you just wonder what happened to Emily, what will become of Victor and Victoria, and how it will all end.
They also do an excellent job of making you empathize with the characters, since you understand each one's motivations, their anxieties and longings, their desires and actions. It is written to be quite sentimental, and it achieves this perfectly. In my case, the one who aroused the most feelings in me was Emily, with whom I empathized quite a bit since her story is quite tragic.
A pesar de que la historia sea una inspiración en un cuento mÃstico del siglo XVI, lo cierto es que Burton le agrega su toque, por ejemplo en el desarrollo de personajes que es más amplio y llevado a la realidad, y por supuesto en la incorporación de números musicales que hacen de la historia algo mucho más cautivante. Las canciones son oscuras, sentimentales y hermosas, definitivamente pegadizas asà que estarás cantándolas todo el rato.
No superan a las del Extraño Mundo de Jack, pero sà son bastante buenas y memorables. La banda sonora de Danny Elfman es simplemente espectacular.
Even though the story is inspired by a 16th century mystic tale, Burton certainly adds his own touch, for example in the character development that is broader and more realistic, and of course in the incorporation of musical numbers that make the story much more captivating. The songs are dark, sentimental and beautiful, definitely catchy so you'll be singing them all the time.
They don't surpass those from The Nightmare Before Christmas, but they are quite good and memorable. Danny Elfman's soundtrack is simply spectacular.
Por otro lado, el mensaje en esta pelÃcula es mucho más profundo de lo que parece a simple vista, puesto que nos habla de trauma, duelo, el apego y la búsqueda de identidad. Todos estos factores son cuestiones que pueden generar infinidad de conflictos en cualquier persona, son situacioes difÃciles de afrontar y que pueden estancarnos. Sin embargo, con esfuerzo se puede mejorar, se pueden superar e incluso puedes encontrarte a ti mismo, tu razón de ser, tu propia identidad.
Esto es reflejado en cada personaje especÃfico de manera perfecta, puesto que el mensaje es claro desde el inicio. Al final nos dejan con una lección de compasión, simpatÃa y superación.
On the other hand, the message in this film is much deeper than it seems at first glance, since it talks about trauma, grief, attachment and the search for identity. All of these factors are issues that can generate countless conflicts in any person, they are difficult situations to face and that can stagnate us. However, with effort, you can improve, you can overcome them and you can even find yourself, your reason for being, your own identity.
This is reflected in each specific character in a perfect way, since the message is clear from the beginning. In the end, they leave us with a lesson about compassion, sympathy and overcoming.
Por otro lado, la animación es sencillamente preciosa. Está meticulosamente bien hecha, con detalles precisos y manteniendo una simplicidad en el diseño que simplemente funciona bien. A veces menos es más y con lo simple pero bien ejecutado, lograron cautivar al espectador.
También creo que es el tipo de animación que se complementa perfectamente con el tipo de historia, ya que el movimiento calza con la rareza general de la trama de la pelÃcula.
On the other hand, the animation is simply gorgeous. It's meticulously well done, with precise details and maintaining a simplicity in the design that just works well. Sometimes less is more and with the simple but well executed, they managed to captivate the viewer.
I also think it's the kind of animation that perfectly complements the type of story, as the movement fits with the overall weirdness of the movie's plot.
Siempre recomendaré esta pelÃcula como una de las mejores jamás hecha. Es emocionante, sentimental, con un mensaje importante, una excelente banda sonora y visualmente preciosa. Si aún no la has visto, deberÃas correr a verla. No te arrepentirás.
I will always recommend this movie as one of the best ever made. It is exciting, sentimental, with an important message, an excellent soundtrack and visually beautiful. If you haven't seen it yet, you should run and watch it. You won't regret it.

Es una hermosa pelicula, en el fondo queria que se quedara con ella, pero la realidad era otra y no seria un muy buen mensaje que él se haya ido con esa novia jaja y lo que le paso a ella, es la cruel realidad que se vive hoy en dia y desde siempre, lamentablemente 💔 hermosa pelicula con muchos sentimientos encontrados.
SÃii, hay demasiados sentimientos encontrados a pesar de que en el fondo sabemos que la decisión que tomó Victor fue la correcta.
Emily sufrió muchÃsimo, tal como muchas otras en la realidad también lo han hecho. Es triste pero cierto. Al menos esta novia pudo tener su descanso.

Me encanta esta pelÃcula! "El Cadáver de la Novia" es realmente una joya del stop motion. La forma en que Tim Burton logra mezclar lo raro con lo sentimental es simplemente brillante. La historia de Emily es tan trágica y conmovedora, y la animación es un deleite visual. ¡Definitivamente es una de mis favoritas también!
Estoy totalmente de acuerdo. Logra transmitir muchas emociones y las deja a flor de piel. Es simplemente preciosa en todos los sentidos.
