Street Photographs with film look and how to achieve it!
Yesterday, I went out with a specific photographic goal in mind: I wanted to take some photos with a film look, that classic feel of film roll photos.
I should clarify that I don't have a film camera; mine is a digital professional Canon RP, so I had to recreate that film look in the photo editing. However, not all photos work for this purpose, so I had to capture the right scenes.
El dia de ayer sali a la calle con un objetivo fotografico en mente, queria hacer algunas fotografias con un look de film, con ese toque clásico de las fotos de carrete.
Debo aclarar que no tengo camara de carrete, mi camara es una CANON RP digital asi que ese look de film lo tenia que crear en la edicion de la foto, mas sin embargo, no todas las fotos sirven para este proposito asi que tenia que capturar las escenas adecuadas.
To achieve this film look properly, I had to capture scenes with a wide tonal range, which translates to lots of colors. And what better way to do that than to take photos of houses with beautiful flowers?
Para obtener este look film de manera adecuada debí capturar escenas con un rango tonal amplio, lo que se traduce a muchos colore y que mejor manera de hacerlo que tomar fotos de casas con flores muy lindas.
And I was always very careful never to blow out the highlights, in this case, the sky.
Y siempre teniendo mucho cuidado de nunca llegar a quemar las altas luces, en este caso el cielo.
Another thing to keep in mind is contrast. Film photos generally have very good contrast, and that's achieved by preserving the shadows. So I had to find scenes with a good amount of shadow.
Otra cosa a tener en cuenta es el contraste, por lo general las fotos de carrete tienen un muy buen contraste y eso se logra preservando las sombras, asi que tuve que buscar capturar fotos donde buena cantidad de sombra:
Another characteristic of the film look is saturation, which means these photos are usually full of very vivid colors!
Otra caracteristica del film look es la saturacion lo que se traduce a que por lo general estas fotos estan llenas de colores muy vividos!
Oh, and don't forget to add a little of grain to all the photos!
I edited all these photos with Adobe Lightroom, and I ended up liking the look so much that I created a preset. So if anyone is interested, I can send it to you!

La edicion de todas estas fotografias la hice con adobe lightroom y al final me gustó tanto el look que creé un preset, asi que si alguno esta interesado puedo enviarselos!
